Hello, and thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Derek Rowley, and I’m a 21+ year veteran of the luxury real estate industry. I have been specializing in selling properties at The Lodges at Eagles Nest here in Banner Elk almost exclusively for the past 16+years, and I would like to offer my services and expertise to sell your beautiful Eagles Nest home.
In this presentation, I will detail my long history of success here on the mountain and the significant advantages of listing your Eagles Nest home with me and Elevate Land and Realty. I will also detail my proven track record, which speaks for itself, and why I am the most qualified agent in the High Country to sell your home.
First, I would like to share more about myself and some of my career achievements to date. Entering into a listing agreement with a real estate professional to sell your home requires a significant amount of trust. Here’s a little of my personal story and why I’ve earned the trust and confidence of so many of my clients here at The Lodges at Eagles Nest.
I was born in Louisville, KY, and instilled with a Midwesterner’s tenacity and strong work ethic. My family moved to North Carolina when I was very young, and I was raised just outside Chapel Hill. I studied at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and began my real estate career immediately after college in 2004. Starting as a broker assistant for a top developer of amenity-rich private communities, learned the fundamentals of both luxury home and land sales. After two years of rigorous and invaluable training, I became a fully licensed real estate broker. During my first few years in the business, I contributed to numerous successful development releases and became a consistent multi-million-dollar producer year over year.
During the summer of 2009, joined the sales and marketing team here at The Lodges at Eagles Nest. From the moment I drove through the front gate, I felt a personal connection to the mountain and the next-generation vision for Eagles Nest. I knew immediately just how special this project was and what an incredibly unique community it had the potential to be.
Over the past 16+ years here on the mountain, I’ve experienced and achieved a great deal. I’ve witnessed Eagles Nest’s evolution from a bold new idea to a fully realized master-planned development. From artist/developer John Turchin’s dream for an alternative to the traditional country club, to the vibrant community we’ve all come to love. I’ve been the one constant sales presence in the development throughout almost its entire history. Therefore, I have a comprehensive 360-degree understanding of the project’s history, the original concept that continues to drive its immense success, and our property owner’s experiences over the years. Prospective buyers want the whole story of where they are investing, and can tell that story better than anyone.

The Lodges at Eagles Nest offers a thriving, world-class luxury vacation rental experience, which I personally helped to create from the beginning. Due to the onset of the Great Recession back in 2008, the original Eagles Nest covenants were amended to allow for short-term rentals, enabling homeowners to generate some income during those challenging economic times. As the Director of Sales and Operations at the time, it was my responsibility to help create and refine the Luxury Vacation Rental program on the mountain. From 2009 through 2021, I operated and eventually co-owned Mountain Realty & Rentals, specializing in White Glove service and managing some of the most impressive homes Eagles Nest has to offer.
