PHYSICAL EDUCATION – WHOLE-SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT  Tailored INSET/ whole-school professional learning including appropriate resources Delivered by a PE Specialist, we can offer a variety of tailored in-school training to meet your school’s needs and address challenges about teaching PE. - Whole day INSET £800 - Half day INSET £500 - Twilight INSET/ staff meeting £250  Mentoring Programme Our PE Specialist can provide regular ongoing support for schools to develop teachers’ skills and confidence. Typically we run the mentoring programme over a 6 week block either to cover a unit of work or tailor a programme to suit your needs.

- 1 hour per week for 6 weeks £450 (e.g. to mentor a teacher to improve confidence and skills) - ½ day per week for 6 weeks £900 (e.g. to work with 2-3 teachers to team teach a unit of work) - ½ day per week for 3 terms £3,600 (e.g. to mentor and team teach a variety of units of work such as gymnastics, dance, games and outdoor and adventurous activities)  PE Lesson Modelling £200 An experienced PE Teacher can help you to shape your PE lessons to enable high quality teaching and learning. This can be done through observation of teaching and/or demonstration of an example lesson. Within this session we will share with you what good and outstanding practice in PE can look like.  Curriculum Planning Support £200 PE Co-ordinators and schools can benefit from support with their curriculum mapping in order to ensure it fulfils the requirements of the new National Curriculum whilst meeting the needs of your school. Through an individual meeting we can: - Develop your purpose and aims for PE - Explore what will be developed, embedded or removed from your PE curriculum - Share ideas and practice - Shape your PE curriculum map - Plan the next steps of your PE curriculum development

PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROFESSIONAL LEARNING  Unlimited access to SSP Training Workshops £250 For schools wishing to access more than 5 places on SSP workshops during the year you can pay a one-off fee to enable you to gain unlimited access (subject to availability).  Professional Learning Days £50 per day Delivered by the Association for PE, Derby City schools can benefit from national updates and leading experts to ensure we are leading the way and delivering outstanding PE and School Sport. Examples of workshops include: - Assessment for Learning - Lesson Observation - From Good to Outstanding Physical Education  Early Years Training Days £50 per day Delivered by a national expert these workshops will ensure children in Derby are getting the best possible start in their PE experience. Through a termly workshop we will cover child development, fundamental movement skills, physical literacy and delivering high quality PE in line with the EYFS & National Curriculum.  NQT & Introduction to PE courses £40 per workshop or £200 for all six workshops These modules will run throughout the year and will be tailored for NQTs and those with little or no experience of delivering PE. Aiming to increase skills and confidence in PE, the training will include; an overview of the PE Curriculum, planning a high quality PE lesson, starter and plenary activities, assessment for learning, differentiation and putting units of work into action.  ASA Certificate for Teaching School Swimming Module 1 £50 & Module 2 £100 Module 1 will equip an adult to actively assist and/ or support a more qualified teacher in the teaching of a range of core aquatic skills to a small group of similar ability within the context of a school swimming programme. Module 2 equips an adult to plan and evaluate the swimming component of the National Curriculum and to teach, without supervision, a range of skills to groups within a school swimming programme.

GOVERNMENT ACCREDITED QUALIFICATIONS (OfQual) Both of these qualifications have been identified as an effective use of some of the physical education and school sport premium funding.  Level 3 Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport (1st 4 Sport) £750 (one year course) Developed in partnership with the Association for Physical Education and 1st4sport this qualification is ideal for Teaching Assistants, Higher Level Teaching Assistants and Coaches and will provide them with a greater understanding of programmes of study for physical education, the national curriculum and the environment in which they will be operating. The course modules run over the year cover: - Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults - Understanding Child and Young Person Development - Schools as organisations - Understanding How to Safeguard the Wellbeing of Children and Young People - Supporting assessment for learning - Planning Physical Education and School Sport Programmes - Delivering Physical Education and School Sport Programmes - Reviewing the Delivery of a Physical Education and School Sport Programme This course will take one year to complete and will involve attending a training session delivered half termly (some will be a half-day, some will be a full day). Delegates will need to attend all tutor led days. In addition Derby City SSP will provide distance learning support (telephone and e-mail support), a termly Level 3 clinic and a personalised individual meeting/ school visit.  Level 5&6 Professional Qualifications in Primary School Physical Education Specialism and Subject Leadership (Sports Leaders UK) £1,300 (two year course) Developed by the Association for PE and Sports Leaders UK, this qualification aims to up skill primary school teachers and higher level teaching assistants through a recognised qualification to improve the overall delivery of the physical education curriculum within primary schools. The training includes tutored hours and independent learning hours. As delegates will have QTS or be HLTA qualified there is no exam or dissertation requirement to complete this qualification.

Units delivered are: - Understanding primary school physical education - Principles of pedagogy in primary school physical education - Planning for continuity and progression in primary school physical education - Using assessment to impact on learning and progress in primary school physical education - Teaching primary school physical education This course will take up to two years to complete and will involve attending a training session delivered half termly (some will be a half-day, some will be a full day). Delegates will need to attend all tutor led days. In addition Derby City SSP will provide distance learning support (telephone and email support), a termly Level 5 clinic and personalised individual meetings/ school visits.

HEALTH & PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROGRAMMES  Physical Literacy ‘Strengthening Muscles: Strengthening Minds’ Programme £200 The Strengthening Muscles: Strengthening Minds toolkit has been developed by the Derby City Physical Literacy Partnership to raise levels of physical development in Nurseries and Schools in Derby. The training, toolkit and personalised support will enable your school and/ or nursery to: - Raise awareness and knowledge of children’s physical development and what normal development looks like - Accurately assess the physical development of children using age appropriate checklists - Provide an appropriate programme of activity to improve children’s gross motor skills - Measure the physical development progress of children taking part in the programme  Active Lunchtimes We can provide training. mentoring and resources to enable schools to manage their lunchtimes and encourage more young people to be physically active - Mini Sports Leader Award £200 - Daily Physical Activity £150 - FUNdamentals and Multi-skill Clubs £150

INSPIRATIONAL SCHOOL VISITS  Sports Day Event Organisation and Delivery £500 We can organise and run your sports day which can be tailored to suit your requirements. This could be a competitive or non-competitive festival designed to engage all children and celebrate their participation.  Sports Road Show £150 Delivered in your school setting we can plan and run a tailored multi-sport session. This could include our successful ‘Mini-Lympic’ programme or be based around a particular theme for your school.
