Founded in 1980, the Georgetown University Orchestra is a large ensemble devoted to the study and performance of orchestral music, including repertoire composed for full orchestra and chamber orchestra. Literature is selected from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern periods.
The Georgetown University Concert Choir is a mixed-voice ensemble that performs choral masterworks from all periods of music history. The ensemble gave the world premiere of Margaret Bond’s cantata “Simon Bore the Cross” at the Kennedy Center and one of the first premieres of her “Credo.” The group also performs Handel’s Messiah every December, with proceeds benefiting the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
