Landscape architecture has a direct dialogue with our daily life. I sensed how much minorities want their history to be recognized in a touching way, and also saw their strong will to find their own cultural identity as new constructions and economic development took place everywhere.
There is a burning desire for me to find how to evoke the memory in urban landscapes, evoke public empathy and even force the world to focus on minority group.

Introduction : Yangjinggang Dock is located on the south bank of the lower reaches of Huangpu River, with a shoreline of about 235 meters long. It is used to be a caol dock buildt by Japanese and was severely polluted. Nowadays, in Shanghai, there is great evolution of waterfront space and de-industrialization. Based on the history of the site, this project aims at building a memorial urban waterfront park which could also add to the vitality of the region.
HISTORY OF YANGJINGGANG DOCK
CURRENT SITUATION
By the end of 1990, the wharfs on both sides of the Pujiang River in the area were divided into three loading and unloading companies. Yangjinggang Matou belongs to Minsheng loading and unloading company located on the South Bank of Huangpu River. The company has many machinery. The throughput in 1990 was 7.04 million tons.
On August 16, 1937, Japanese planes dropped multiple bombs in Pudong area. On November 10, the Japanese invaders plundered the goods stored in the factory stack in various districts of Hudong. On the 11th, Japanese ships and sand ships transported most of the coal stored in the coal stack of Mitsui wharf.
In 2002, the comprehensive development plan on both sides of the Pujiang River was officially launched, which is considered to be the second milestone in Shanghai since the development of Pudong. Yangjing port wharf is located in the middle of the core area and mainly develops business tourism.
EVOLUTION OF WATERFRONT SPACE
POWER INVASION (1843-1949)
INDUSTRIALIZATION (1949-1990)
As the center of industrial development of new China, the berth capacity had been enhanced, and intermodal transport facilities had been built.
DE-INDUSTRIALIZATION (1990-2002)
Overall function of the city had changed from industry to finance, and the docks had become capital-intensive rather than labor-intensive. The space was desired to shift from productionoriented shoreline to comprehensive serviceoriented shoreline.
URBAN COMBINATION (2002-2010)
Coal still plays an important role in modern industry. There has been mature precedures which show the wisdom.
The dredging of lakes or ports will inevitably produced a large amount of sediment deposition.
As coal dust is acidic, it polluted soil resources.
Water pollution also caused by sediment deposition should not be underestimated.
The process of coal storage, transportation and stevedoring will be accompanied by serious dust pollution, endangering the atmosphere and surrounding environment, and there are potential safety hazards at the same time. Combustible dust has the risk of fire and explosion; The visibility of high concentration dust is poor, which affects the line of sight.
Most factories there had no treatment equipment for wastewater, and discharged wastewater into Yangjing port in large quantities which greatly exceeded the self purification capacity of Yangjing port.
In order to ventilate and store, coals are always stacked like 'mountain' on the dock. Based on the shape of coal piles, create the terrain of the park to refresh the memory about coal.
Use the underground space to realize the integration of artificial wharf and natural water body, and strengthen the interaction between tourists and water body.

Deform the basic shape to form bulges and depressions as the terrain.
Then, form terrain on the basis of vertical design.
Firstly, create several circles of different sizes.
Extrude curves and form the steps.
Rectify the site including vegetation, road planning, etc park design.
This
Use of steps to adapt to different water levels and create different landscapes, and on the upper bridge people can always overlook the scene.
The stepped slopes planted with grass and trees form shade for people, allowing rest between the steps and leaving more open space for recreation at the top of the 'mountain'.
The bowl-shaped skateboarding ground allows for roller skating, skateboarding and fancy riding and other activities that different people enjoy, adding a fresh touch to city life.
People here have rich viewing experience and different levels of vision. The eye view rendering shows one of the possibilities.

Introduction: Tatsuno is one of sacred places to watch fireflies in Japan, located in the outskirts of Nagano Prefecture. It is famous for its fireflies and also one of the best places to enjoy the firefly festival in summer. However, the Firefly Sanctuary also faced challenges when fireflies need extremely pure environment to exist. This project aims to create a more pleasant environment for both fireflies and people.
Tatsuno is one of sacred places to watch fireflies in Japan, located in the outskirts of Nagano Prefecture. It is famous for its fireflies and also one of the best places to enjoy the firefly
Traditional Japanese novel 'Tale of Genji' describes a scene: in order to let the prince see one beauty, Guangyuan hid fireflies in the bag and released them in the dark room. Under the glimmering light of fireflies, he saw the graceful beauty.
Firefly is a very delicate and fragile creature. Each aquatic firefly has a different ecological habitat. Tatsuno is very suitable for Fireflies to live and famous of Genji Firefly (a kind of aquatic firefly).
2. Larvae late July
Fireflies only like the natural environment with lush vegetation, clean water and fresh air. Aquatic Fireflies have even higher requirements for the environment. Tatsuno is very suitable for Fireflies to live. In the middle of June every year, Firefly Festival held here is deeply loved by people. Since the 1955s, however, with the increase in various kinds of pollution, the number of fireflies has gradually decreased.
The natural environment and the water of the Tenryu River could provide fireflies good habitats and sufficient food.
Clear, ample river
Pollutions including Factory wastewater, domestic wastewater, and pesticides damage living environment of
At different life stage, fireflies in Tatsuno require different habitats. The basic types include the following three.
Adults - moist trees or grass
Snail, earthworm,etc.
Larvae - grass near rivers, ponds and paddy fields
Pupae - moist soil
In order to satisfy people's curiosity about nature and cherish nature at the same time, it is very important to create a comfortable and less disturbing viewing space for tourists and a good living environment for fireflies.
The space plans to use the form of paper cutting to form a wave shape and also form a height difference, so that the building can integrate into the terrain, minimize the impact on fireflies, and create more possibilities for people to interact with fireflies. Setting multi-layer elevation difference also can achieve the purpose of filtering water layer by layer and enriching the landscape.
Step1: Split the plane
Preliminarily separate the space from the plane and confirm the elevation difference classification.
Step2: Adjust the plane Adjust the size and shape of the space to meet space and streamline requirements and smooth wavy shape.
Step3: Determine the height Determine the height difference of each layer to form the basic terrain.
For this site, there are several different modes of interaction between people and fireflies. People can watch fireflies flying through the windows in earth covered buildings, or they can watch them closely in the outdoor space on the basis of observing the rules of sightseeing that do not harm fireflies.

The model shows the general state of the water strategy, including flood management and water purification.
When the tide comes in, the terrain with layers of height difference functions as natural water filtration system. When polluted water flows from high to low, the terrain with ditches can functions as natural water filtration system, filtering sewage layer by layer. At the end, the relatively clean water flows into the river.
In the daytime, fireflies are seldom active, and people can't see them. And because of its good natural environment and rich terrain, it can also become a place for people to take a daily walk.
On summer nights, fireflies become active, and this place becomes an excellent place to watch fireflies. You can get close contact with fireflies outdoors, and also have indoor space for people to rest and watch fireflies

Introduction: River channelization is to transform the natural river into a nearly parallel and regular channel on both banks by taking some engineering measures. Nanchang River was channelized in 19th century because of demand for flood control, irrigation. Based on study of natural river, this design has a proposal to restore ecosystems capability to respond to changing environment.
In the past centuries, because of increasing demand for irrigation and flood control, rivers in Beijing were seriously channelized.

More plentiful and legible circulation brings more fummy experience to people when they are staying here.
Various activities would happen in the different space and structures of the site, part of which would provide a better life to the citizens, and others would bring more vitality to the nature.

Introduction: The site is located in the south bank art district of Melbourne, with complex traffic flow lines. On a closed expressway ramp roundabout, the government has built a sculpture installation and animal shelter, which can be used as an art installation and provide a temporary shelter for wild animals, but the evaluation is mixed. The project focuses on the urban environment. Considering the potential threat of urban development and human activities to urban animal habitats, our goal is to make full use of the gray space of the city, so that human beings can live in harmony with nature.
Memory of Habitat Filter
I will pass this landmark on a daily basis, but not know its purpose or even its name. It's a little ugly, I don't like it.
The new sculpture Habitat-Filter was too intrusive and just a road with some stuff that you look at.
Critic
With the development of city, the habitat of animals is squeezed. There is mutual repulsion between animals and residents.

Southbank is a comprehensive community integrating catering, entertainment, commerce and residence in the center of Melbourne. Since 1990, there has been transformed from an industrial type into a residential and office type downtown community. Habitat Filter, located in Southbank, is not only an art installation, but also a temporary shelter for wild animals.
Bats usually live in dense vegetation and close to water. According to research, their diet mainly includes eucalyptus flowers, and they are considered to be the main pollinators of eucalyptus. The rewilding viaduct can provide them with daytime rest conditions.
There is a more ecological possibility for the complex urban transportation system, weakens the negative part of urban space, not only provides a more comfortable environment for urban residents who commute daily, but also reduces traffic noise, purifies exhaust pollution, and provides more possible habitats for urban wildlife.
This construction is not only an art installation, but also a temporary shelter for wild animals. The solar panel on the device can provide power for lighting, while the hollow box can provide shelter for wild animals.
The spiral terrain is used here to reshape the terrain of the central sculpture device, increase the water system, and provide more abundant and excellent habitats for urban animals. At the same time, the pedestrian overpass is also used to communicate urban residents and wild animals, which not only solves the problem of mixed traffic, but also improves the accessibility of urban residents.
