All foundations are not created equally. They each have different finishes, coverages, and benefits. Just as you should change your foundation color to match your skin tone for each season, you should have a variety of foundations to choose from to match your lifestyle options. or wearing different foundations for different occasions. Typically, for a casual day spent outdoors, choose a sheer coverage BB cream, mineral powder, or tinted moisturizer with an SPF. For work or weekend daytime events, opt for a medium coverage liquid, powder, or cream depending on skin type. For special events or going out, you typically would do a more dramatic eye or lip look, so choose a fuller coverage foundation with more of a flawless finish to match the overall look. Oftentimes, we have an endless amount of makeup options for our lips, cheeks, or eyes.

Don’t forget to change up your foundation.

We made it! It’s summer and we can finally bust out our favorite open-toed shoes and dresses sans tights. Even more exciting -- pool and lake season has arrived. What better way to kick it all off than with a fresh new suit? From embracing the off-the-shoulder trend to flattering your curves with a flirty cut-out, there’s no way you won’t find your perfect suit for the summer here in Denver or travels abroad.

It’s all about mix & match this summer and this is a perfect meeting of bright colors and contrasting patterns. The added volume to the top gives a subtle hint of flirtiness while still providing coverage.

When your swim suit needs a sexy boost, cut-outs are the way to go. The halter style of this suit also gives way for a cold-shoulder, one of the hotter trends this season.

These board shorts will take you anywhere. Throw them on for your next camping trip or if you have plans after a pool day bring along a t-shirt and you’re ready for running around.

MEET THE PHOTOGRAPHER: CEDAR HOUSE PHOTOGRAPHY

MOLLY SEELING Written by Dustyn Deerman

When you get in front of a camera that Molly Seeling is holding, you’re stepping into her imaginative world. A world traveler, a singer, and an artist at heart—no one photo session with her is a like. Working with primarily high school senior girls, Molly wants to share her experiences with other free-spirited young women who are about to embark on adventures of their own, and she wants to capture their individuality with her lens.

— 18 —

Named one of the “Top 25 Up & Coming Senior Photographers” this year by The Twelfth Year Magazine, and with published work in several magazines and publications, everyone around Molly sees how special her work truly is. She doesn’t stop at portraits, either. Molly also loves the opportunity to participate in fashion shoots and the occasional head shot. Her greatest passion, though, are the photos she takes while travelling, “I started out shooting film during my travels. I would go through airport security with a giant Ziploc bag full of rolls of film that I’d make them hand-check.” From Tibet to the mountains of Mexico and the Russian countryside, Molly’s memories of those she’s encountered are all captured on film. When you look at her photos you’ll surely notice that Molly wants you to feel the emotion or mood she is creating with her image. She says she is a huge fan of color, and is always seeking that perfect combination of hues. “I love moody skies and storm clouds, shooting at night under the stars, and of course that amazing, buttery golden light that all photographers love.”

@dustdee

“I love images that feel like they’re a still from some great movie,” she says. Paintings and other mediums of art, as well as her natural surroundings, also play a huge role in what inspires her. You’ll see a lot of Molly’s personal fashion style reflected in her work; the unusual and creatively-styled draw her in, much like what you’d see in her personal wardrobe. When she’s behind the camera, it’s all about comfort, “I’m often lying on the ground or climbing rocks and trees to get the perfect shot—my clothes have to be low-maintenance to allow for a lot of movement and abuse,” she says. When she’s off-duty, you can find her in sporty activewear on a trail or in yoga pants at home. But don’t think she doesn’t enjoy a fun bold statement piece when she’s out on the town. Diesel, Free People, and thrift and vintage pieces are her favorite—a rather eclectic collection of style.

“I’m really not afraid to not conform.” Something we think perfectly applies to her work as well.

Molly’s laid-back and down to earth approach to her work shines through every photo. She makes a point of incorporating that into every Cedar House Photography www.cedarhousephotography.com shoot, making her clients feel more @cedarhousephoto comfortable and relaxed when working with her. And the name of her studio, Cedar House Photography, absolutely captures that feeling of being somewhere you can truly be yourself, even when you’re in front of the Another big influence on Molly’s photography are moving images—movies! camera.

Blank Canvas Fashion www.painttheblankcanvas.com

Fashion stylist and blogger Aaron Rodriguez is all about starting from the ground up when it comes to how he dresses himself or one of his clients. For him, every day he’s faced with an exciting new canvas, one that he uses to tell his story a little more each time. Aaron believes you can make something beautiful or new out of nothing and even more, something new out of everyone. He goes on, “That can be a new outfit or it can go deeper and you can start over and create a new you.” This belief and approach lead Aaron to create and manage his blog, Blank Canvas, and ultimately to branch out and share this with others. Aaron first started Blank Canvas when he was working at a bank.

“I can’t tell you how many of my conversations with customers and co-workers revolved around fashion,” he says. If he wasn’t talking about what he wore the past weekend, he was talking about what was trending, or browsing for clothes and even sketching designs. He decided he needed to pursue what he so clearly valued. He broke out of the mold, broke his own rules, and created new expectations for himself.

@blankcanvasfashion

This is a person with big dreams and ambitions. Wanting to be a professional stylist and eventually a published author, Aaron hasn’t looked back since the day he embarked into the world of fashion. He may not have all the answers, but he’s got the determination. “It might sound funny,” he says,

“It’s almost like this itch I can’t control; I simply can’t let life pass me by without trying to make my dreams come true.”

He sees people reaching their dreams that others may have thought impossible -- he wants that, something tell us that’s exactly what he’s going to get. In a city where the fashion is so incredibly diverse Aaron keeps his personal style aesthetic very dark, laid-back and casual. While fashion may not always be the first thing to come to mind for some people, Aaron uses it as an opportunity to challenge people’s perceptions, which in turn has pushed him to make bolder choices with his own wardrobe and how he may style one of his clients. Aaron has proven that no matter what your dreams are you should go for them. Create for yourself your own blank canvas and begin to tell your own story, just as he did. © Noah Berg

Crew necks and cleavage are disappearing to make room for the ever-alluring collarbone with summer’s off-the-shoulder trend. Heat up cool summer nights with these stylish local picks.

Imagine the year is 1969, a lot is changing in the world around you and you’ve decided to take a little trip to the Woodstock Music Festival. People of all backgrounds have joined to share their love of music and community. You are feeling carefree, alive, and basking under the golden sun. Your floral romper lets your shoulders roam free as if the sleeves slipped off from all the dancing. This bohemian and romantic look can be achieved with floral or bold prints, subtle ruffles, a wide brimmed hat, some big sunglasses, and layers of chunky jewelry that move with you as you dance. Channel your inner Spanish senorita with a touch of sultry exoticism. Subtle ruffles, girly details, and form flattering silhouettes bring this to life. You can acheive a similar look with a dress or top that has a slight ruffle along the neckline (or in this case the shoulder line) and shorts, a skirt, or a belt that comes in at the waist to bring attention to your marvelous curves.
