From the CEO Dear Friends, I asked Jeremy Quattlebaum to share a few words with you this month: Webster defines dignity as “the quality of being worthy of honor and respect.” This is the thought process we aput into each meal that we serve here at Denver Rescue Mission.

I like to think that we not only serve three meals a day, but that we also treat with dignity each guest who comes through our doors.

As one of the chefs at the Mission, I love providing good food to those who are struggling. I am honored by the opportunity to give them a safe place to come and enjoy a satisfying meal, and I find joy as I walk the dining room and thank our guests for joining us. To me, the meal is an important means of serving them, but I want them to leave having experienced a sense of dignity.

This kind of service is not possible without the generous contributions we receive on a daily basis. As a Mission supporter, you continue to provide us with the tools we need to offer three square meals a day to those in need. As a Denver Rescue Mission chef, I want to thank you for your donations, and I want to thank you for allowing us to bring honor to our dining room guests.

The Lawrence Street Shelter serves nearly 850 meals each day.

Men, women and children can rely on the Mission for three meals a day, finding a small piece of comfort during a chaotic time of life.

The act of eating is habitual, necessary and constant.

Meal

It’s something most of us do three or more times each day. We prepare food for ourselves, have someone else prepare it for us, pick it up and bring it home, or go to a restaurant to eat there.

But for someone who doesn’t know where their next meal is coming from, something immensely routine becomes a source of anxiety. How will I get it? What will it be? Will it be enough?

Our Lawrence Street Shelter provides answers to these questions, serving three meals a day, 365 days a year to anyone who needs it. The shelter is a symbol of safety, cleanliness and hope to people seeking refuge from the streets. Everyone who enters our doors has the chance to wash their hands, receive a warm plate of food, sit at a dining table, and enjoy their meal with others.

The Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability is committed to helping Christ-centered organizations earn the public’s trust through developing and maintaining standards of accountability that convey God-honoring ethical practices. Member since February 1991.

(ECFA.org) The Association of Gospel Rescue Missions is an association of rescue missions and other rescue ministries which (1) serves local rescue ministries through education, training, consultation, conferences, conventions, and networking; (2) starts new rescue ministries; (3) shares the message of rescue; (4) promotes prayer, spiritual values and growth in the rescue family. Over 300 affiliates in US, Canada, India, Australia, South America, and Africa. Member since August 1962. (AGRM.org) The Denver/Boulder Better Business Bureau is dedicated to promoting and fostering the highest ethical relationships between businesses and the public through voluntary self-regulation, consumer and business education and service excellence. Member since November 1991. (DenverBBB.org) Caring Connection of Colorado aims to offer a recognized choice for giving in the workplace, and provides local organizations and individual donors with the opportunity to support the human service agencies they know, trust and believe in. The Crossing: Long-term New Life rehabilitation program, transitional program for New Life graduates and homeless families, temporary housing for interns and visitors.

Ministry Outreach Center: Warehouse facilities; food, clothing and household goods distribution.
