BIBLE STUDY METHOD Find a quiet spot to study and be sure to grab: A Bible, Notebook/Journal, Pen/Pencil/Highlighter

Ask God for guidance and focus as the Holy Spirit works on your heart through this special time with Him. The length of time you dedicate to studying the Word daily is up to you.

SCRIPTURE Open your Bible to the scripture for today. Take your time to read over the words, allowing God to speak to you through the text. Once you’re done reading, look for a verse that particularly speaks to you and write it in your journal. You will be amazed at what God can reveal to you when you take the time to slow down, reflect, and write it out.

O B S E R VAT I O N Who is speaking in the text and who is the audience? Is there a repetition of words or do any stand out to you? Are there words you do not understand that need to be looked up? What do you think God is saying to you through this scripture?

Write down answers to some of these questions in your journal. If you need to underline or highlight sections of your Bible, go for it! If you feel the need to do a little research to find some answers or definitions, do it. But do not allow yourself to become distracted. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide and reveal Jesus to you.

A P P L I C AT I O N This is when God’s Word becomes personal. Personalize what you have read by asking, “How does this apply to my life right now?” Perhaps it is instruction, encouragement, a new promise, or change for a particular area of your life that does not align with scripture. Write down what God is speaking to you today.

P R AY E R Ask God to help you use this scripture within your life so that you can be transformed in Him! Or, pray for more understanding on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation so be sure to listen to what God has to say! Now, write it out. Praise God for His many blessings and that your eyes have been opened to His truth!

Did you know we have a Benevolence Fund at DCCC that is used to help those in our church and in our community when times are tough? Sometimes you want to help but writing a huge check is impossible, or taking time off work to help build a ramp to someone’s porch is not probable. There is a way you can help. Even a donation of $5 to the Benevolence Fund can make all the difference in the world. And right now, you can have your cake and eat it too!!!! *NOTE: If you have a clear cake display you could loan us, we could really use a few to display cakes in the foyer. They will not be sold with the cake.
