First Adirondack Bucks Christmas Market WARRENSBURG — On Thursday, Nov. 29, from 6-9 p.m., the Adirondack Cooperative Economy will host the first-ever Adirondack Bucks Christmas Market at the Free Methodist Church on River Street. The event will include a potluck buffet, music and vendors who will accept both Adirondack Bucks and U.S. dollars.

Santa at the fire house WARRENSBURG — Bring the kids to Santa Claus at the Warrensburg firehouse on Saturday, Dec. 8 from noon until 2 p.m.

Holiday Dinner at Lizzie Keays The Warrensburg Historical Society will host a holiday dinner at Lizzie Keays Dec. 7. The price of the meal is $27.95, which includes tax and gratuity. The dinner selections include a choice of soup or salad, and the meal choices are Italian stuffed chicken, grilled bistro steak with choice of side and vegetable of the day, or seafood sampler platter with choice of side and vegetable of the day. The dessert choices are ginger streusel pumpkin pie, homemade bread pudding with vanilla topping or chocolate ring cake. All meals come with homemade bread and honey butter. Attendees are asked to meet at Lizzie Keays at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will start at 6 p.m. For information, call 504-4043.

Light up Lake George LAKE GEORGE — This year ’s 15th annual “Lite Up the Village” celebration, scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, will be bigger and better than ever. “There will be hundreds and thousands of red, green, blue and white lights adorning the trees,” said Michael Consuelo of the Lake George Chamber of Commerce. The event’s theme this year is Go Green, and the village will have displays of a power generating bicycle and will be selling reusable grocery bags. National Grid’s mascot, Socket Boy, will also be on hand to delight attendees of all ages. The event is hosted by the Village of Lake George in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce and will take place in Sheppard Park. Pony rides and petting zoo will go from 3:30-5:30 p.m., carols sung by Cyndie Wade-Wood will begin at 4:30, a magic show will follow at 5, the trees will light up at 5:35 and Santa will make his appearance at 5:40. There will be fireworks over Lake George following his appearance. Santa will make his way to the Lake George Town Hall, where children can sit on his lap while the Lake George Chamber and the Auxillary of the Volunteer Firemen hand out treats and refreshments. The Lake George Community Band will also do sing-alongs of Christmas classics from 6-7 p.m. at the town hall.

There are plenty of opportunities for children to meet Santa Claus this year.

It’s a Christmas party in Thurman! THURMAN — The Christmas party at the Thurman Town Hall will be held Dec. 15 from 1 to 3 pm. Santa will be arriving by fire truck and will have gifts for everyone from infants to 12 year olds. There will games, prizes and food.

Thurman Country Christmas Bazaar ATHOL — The Thurman Country Christmas Bazaar will open for seasonal shopping from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24 at Thurman Town Hall, 311 Athol Road, Athol. Find an amazing array of handiwork by local craftsmen, who offer wares such as knitted mittens, socks and other items; fleece blankets; baked goods; hand painted Adirondack items; paintings from nature, as well as miniature Adirondack rustic furniture. One booth will offer Avon, and another photos taken by the late Stan Cranker, along with odds and ends of glassware and decorative items. Gift shoppers will find jewelry made from handmade and dyed paper beads, stained glass stepping stones, and pure Thurman maple products. The bazaar booth fees provide funds for Thurman’s Christmas Basket Fund, an annual project to share holiday cheer with those living alone. Holiday Treasures exhibit CHESTERTOWN — The Art in Chestertown Gallery will its free Holiday Treasures exhibit from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thurs. through Sun. The exhibit, which will include paintings, drawings, jewelry and woodworking, runs through Jan. 5, is free and is open to the public. The gallery is located at 6378 Route 9 in Chestertown.
