LAKE GEORGE Ñ As soon as next year, visitors to Lake George may, in daytime, experience an innovative interactive walking tour that presents local history, and by night see the downtown streetscape illuminated with a colorful, shimmering array of multicolored lights. Village officials decided this week to move ahead with plans to pursue a proposal by Dunham Studios of Pottersville to create a trail of historical figures through the village that portray the rich history of Lake George, and perhaps the theatrical lighting, if the project budget permits. Initial plans call for a dozen or more “marquettes” of influential historical figures. Using their smartphones, tablets or cell phones, visitors could be instantly drawn into dramatic audio and video historical videos or narratives on their electronic devices, Clarke Dunham of Dunham Studios CONTINUED ON PAGE 13

L.G. hotel plans to be revealed By Thom Randall thom@denpubs.com LAKE GEORGE Ñ Architectural designs for the six-story Marriott Hotel that area developer Dave Kenny is seeking to build are likely to be revealed Monday Aug. 12 in a press conference, local officials said this week. Village Mayor Robert Blais told Lake George Village board members Aug. 5

that Kenny is planning to unveil designs of the hotelÕ s exterior, which he heard were being developed in the spirit of the villageÕ s new architectural standards. Adopted in late July, these regulations prohibit long flat blank walls and rooflines, and call for the use of dormers, parapets, stepped roofs, balconies, cornices,wall offsets and recesses to create visual appeal and historical aesthetic value. At the public hearing when these rules were adopted, Kenny talked about how

He said he appreciated the aesthetics of the buildings of the early 1900s. Ò The hotel will have nice architectural features, to dovetail nicely with the past and the future of Lake George,Ó Kenny said.

Acoustic show draws crowd

Fairgrounds in Warrensburg. This community festival explores and celebrates the areaÕ s rural traditions in work and play from the early days of Warren County through the mid-20th century. This year, the event will celebrate Warren CountyÕ s 200th birthday with displays and programs by local historical societies, museums, and military re-enactors.

The festival will also feature displays and programs by area not-for-profits and clubs, including farm-to-table Community Supported Agriculture programs, the Adirondack Museum, Toastmasters International and the Adirondack Folk School of Lake Luzerne which is reviving many of the rural skills and crafts of the region.
