Big Apple Circus welcomed back to LG

thom@denpubs.com LAKE GEORGE Ñ Local residents and area visitors welcomed the Big Apple Circus back to Lake George this week with standing ovations at the conclusion of early performances of their second annual engagement here. This yearÕ s new show, a production entitled Legendarium thatÕ s been lauded by critics, explores historic aspects of circuses while presenting an array of acts with compelling contemporary appeal. The Big Apple Circus has dazzled spectators and reviewers during its run in various cities this year. Its two-week run in Charles Wood Park on the southern side of Lake George Village began Saturday July 13 and features 24 performances through July 28 in its air-conditioned big top. The acclaimed circus features world-class aerialists and acrobats, a dancing duo that juggles while performing a fast-paced tango, and a contortionist whose moves defy description. Cuomo ready for rafting challenge By Andy Flynn andy@denpubs.com INDIAN LAKE Ñ The governorÕ s coming to town, and heÕ s invited everyone to his party — the first-ever Adirondack Challenge Festival July 20-22. It began as a light-hearted challenge to fellow politicians during the State of the State address in January. It was accompanied by a promise to help boost tourism

in the Adirondack region of upstate New York. Seven months later, it has blossomed into a bona fide communitywide event, one that has regionwide implications and, thanks to Empire State Development/I Love NY, has drawn plenty of media attention to our neck of the woods.
