UP FOR THE CHALLENGE 2021 EVENT RECAP

THANK YOU FROM CEO + PRESIDENT

CARA VALENTINO

Dear Dempsey Challenge participants, sponsors, partners, volunteers and donors: I can't adequately express how grateful all of us at the Dempsey Center are for your support of the Dempsey Challenge. I was drawn to the Dempsey Center work because of its emphasis on supporting the whole human as well as their families and care partners in the experience of living with cancer. I so appreciate each and all of you for your relentless pursuit to make life better for people impacted by cancer. There were many changes to the Challenge this year and I can’t thank you enough for rallying together to support these efforts as we planned the best way forward in an ever-changing environment. Those who participated in the Local Challenge helped keep your community safe by following the health and safety guidelines, and stayed positive through the changes in order to come together in person. From open start times and looped courses, to grab-and-go food and masks in the park, the smiles continued to shine (even under the masks) and the spirit of the Challenge was as powerful as ever! The energy of Challenge weekend grew even stronger as our global community came together from around the world. Over 600 people from 41 states and 15 countries participated virtually. Two-thousand people participated in this year’s Dempsey Challenge, and thanks to your tireless efforts, together we raised $1.5M to help provide a haven of support to cancer patients, their loved ones, and care partners--all at no cost. On behalf of our staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors, thank you again. We are honored to have you all as part of the Dempsey Center family. Gratefully,

Cara Valentino

FUNDRAISING STATISTICS + ANALYTICS DOUBLE THE DONATION DAYS Dempsey Challenge 2021 was once again fortunate to have a number of generous donors and partners who helped rally our participants to raise funds in new and unique ways. With the use of Double the Donation days, Dempsey Challenge participants were inspired and motivated to raise even more money to support the Dempsey Center on these very special incentive days. Thanks to the kindness of Michael & Ruby Simonds, UNUM, and three anonymous donors, over $145,000 was fundraised on those three days. This is a fantastic example of the way generosity inspires, and we’re so grateful to each of the donors who offered their gifts to be used for Double the Donation Days.
