“I wanted this to be a humble piece, but very centering, calming, peaceful… with a universal gesture of meditative thought. The surface of the dress is carved with textures and patterns of living natural forms. Even though this is a quiet piece, I wanted the imagery to be alive with movement – to have an inner energy of life.”

A Healing Wish

“Healing is a very individual process. My own experience is that nature heals. So, I draw upon elements found in the natural world — wildlife, plant forms, water, sunlight. It’s the seasonal cycles and changes that make us so aware — spring rains, bird song, opening seed heads. To me, they are an affirmation of hope, rebirth, renewal. On this box, the gestures of giving and receiving suggest a story about healing. I hope that viewers can find meaning in the symbols and discover what is healing to them.”

A gift to support those in the healing process; a beautiful place to keep jewelry and keepsakes. Bottom of box has a velvety soft finish. Detached lid, with sentiment printed on back, can be hung on wall as a decorative plaque.

“Music transports us—it can be absorbed quietly, evoking strong memories, or move us in powerful ways. It has a way of directly speaking to the soul. As I was contemplating sculpting a piece that is an expression of music, I wanted to etch a pattern that tells a story. The interlocking carvings of dancers and musical instruments flow in a continuous narrative around the figure. She could be the listener, or she could be the performer, sharing her gift with others.”

A gift for people who are musicians, actors, singers, dancers… who share their talent with others through teaching or performance. And, for those who ENJOY the performing arts!
