Dear Sparta Area School District team,

Like you, we believe a well-designed learning environment is one of the most powerful tools for student engagement, academic success, and well-being. Spaces that adapt to changing needs, support collaboration, and reflect the values of the community can shape how students learn for years to come. We understand that bringing this vision to life requires a coordinated, thoughtful process that blends design expertise, logistical precision, and genuine partnership.

Proven expertise, tailored to SASD

With 120 years of experience and a history of successful projects in Wisconsin — including with Building Solutions and Bray Architects — we are ready to step seamlessly into your process. Our team brings a proven methodology for understanding instructional priorities, engaging staff for input, and translating those insights into layouts, product selections, and finish choices that fit both your goals and your budget. We manage each detail, from early planning to final punch list items, so you can focus on the broader success of your project.

Balancing vision, budget, and performance

We understand the responsibility of delivering excellent value to your community. Our recommendations will blend function, durability, and style, ensuring selections are built to withstand daily use in high-traffic educational settings. We monitor costs throughout the process and align every choice with both your budget and the features you need.

Smooth execution through coordinated planning

We partner with your architects and owner’s representative to ensure your built spaces and furniture work in tandem, from power sources to colors and materials. We coordinate manufacturing, delivery, and installation to match your construction milestones, including off-site storage if needed. And our right-sized installation crews deliver clean, clutter-free spaces with minimal disruption to school operations.

A commitment that extends beyond installation

We measure our success by how well your new spaces serve students and staff long after the ribbon is cut. Our warranty management, responsive maintenance solutions, and clear care documentation keep each environment functioning at its best. You’ll also have access to professional development from experts like Dr. Robert Dillon, Amy Uelmen, and Katie Grundahl, equipping educators to connect environment to instructional practice.

We invite you to review the following information about our services and see why so many schools in Wisconsin and nationwide partner with Demco to optimize their learning environments. We look forward to discussing how we can help you create inspiring spaces of your own. You are in capable hands with Shawna Ley and Brandon Blanke.

Sincerely,

Briefly describe how this Project is similar to the District's Project. Identify any challenges you encountered on the Project and briefly describe how these issues were resolved.

The Viroqua Area School District needed to provide more modern, flexible learning environments and encourage academic growth. With emphasis on Career and Technical Education, this meant updating tech ed spaces as well as classrooms to support high-quality programs and hands-on learning opportunities.

The district interviewed two companies and selected Demco as their partner. They appreciated Demco’s thorough needs assessment and design process, especially since they started the process late in the game.

Because of this tight timeline, the district needed to be particularly vigilant about staying on schedule to ensure everything was ready for students to return. They needed a partner who was equally committed to their success. Demco was on-site multiple times to expedite the needs assessment process, quickly identifying their needs to have everything there on schedule. VASD was also working with a tight budget, which our team addressed with value streaming — maximizing function while minimizing cost and pivoting as needed to deliver a complete, cost-conscious solution.

In their classrooms and tech spaces, Demco provided a variety of flexible and adjustable seating designed to adapt to individual users and provide options for rearranging the learning environments quickly and easily. FLEXplore tables (Gem, Kidney, Bite, Trapezoid and more) are also featured throughout the district’s learning spaces to support different learning activities. Demco incorporated school colors into the spaces as well to help support the district’s strong sense of community.

Students now not only have updated, flexible learning spaces, but also have enhanced areas for hands-on learning opportunities. The district is pleased with the results.

Briefly describe how this Project is similar to the District's Project. Identify any challenges you encountered on the Project and briefly describe how these issues were resolved.

Demco partnered with Monroe High School to design and furnish their new state-of-the-art campus, combining select existing pieces with carefully chosen new furniture. Our team worked closely with Plunkett Raysich Architects to ensure every furniture finish complemented the school’s architectural design. From the earliest stages, we collaborated with district leaders, staff, and students to understand their vision — focusing on how each space could best support teaching, learning, and community engagement.

We met with each teacher and student group to learn about their instructional styles and determine the furniture that would best enhance learning. To refine these selections, we installed pilot classrooms, gathering real-world feedback on what students liked and what could be improved. These pilot spaces provided valuable insights, ensuring every choice supports learning, flexibility, and long-term durability.

Additionally, we were challenged to work within a very limited budget. To deliver on their vision while maintaining a cost-conscious approach, we collaborated closely with the district to repurpose some of the existing furniture, ensuring it complemented the new pieces in the updated space.

The result is a furniture plan that balances budget with innovative, adaptable solutions. The design of Monroe’s new classrooms, STEM labs, art rooms, commons areas, offices, and support spaces emphasizes flexibility and warmth. The new high school accommodates varied teaching styles, encourages collaboration, and fosters a cohesive, student-centered atmosphere — all while carefully maximizing referendum dollars.

Both

The School District of Howards Grove faced declining enrollment, reduced state funding, and significant investments needed to address major challenges like safety, accessibility, and aging facilities. Following a failed referendum in April 2021 for building a new middle school, the school district prioritized community involvement and developed a plan for addressing their most significant needs. The next referendum passed, offering the perfect opportunity to modernize and focus on student engagement.

Demco first collaborated with the administration to customize their office spaces, making the hub more functional, efficient, and welcoming. Next, Demco implemented pilot classrooms to test a variety of furniture, gathering feedback from students and staff to refine the design, product selection, and make sure the spaces supported different teaching methods and learning activities. Updates included a small class library with easy resource access, stand-up and sit-down seating options for different preferences and needs, breakout spaces for post-lesson work, and a commons area with mobile seats and tables with the school’s logo to promote school pride.

We faced two issues with product during the course of this project. First, one product had a manufacturing defect; the manufacturer could not confirm when the issue would be resolved, so Demco proactively replaced all defective wobble stools with the updated version. Second, the color of the cafeteria table seats did not match expectations; Demco coordinated with the manufacturer to provide an alternative at no additional cost.

In addition, Demco’s Dr. Robert Dillon worked together with Howards Grove Middle School Principal Angie Houston to help staff think about their new spaces and utilize them, covering the impact of clutter and visual noise, voice and choice, and more.

We choose to partner with a broad range of manufacturers and suppliers whose commitment to quality matches our own, and who understand the furniture needs of modern learning spaces.

Through Demco, you will have access to 1,000+ high-quality furniture collections — all designed for flexibility, durability, and safety in educational spaces. We’ll guide you through assessing your current furnishings and selecting complementary solutions from a library of over 30,000 pieces.

Because we have such a broad network of trusted suppliers and a variety of options for installation partners, we can easily pivot to accommodate selection changes, busy summer install schedules, and external challenges like supply chain issues or product discontinuations.

We will leverage our long-standing relationships with vendors (some of whom have Demco as their largest customer) to negotiate the best possible prices, and we will help you make full use of available warranties as needed.

“I don’t think this would have been possible or as amazing as it is without the support of Demco. They had everything we needed and their expertise in design helped take an idea and turn it into a reality.”

Project fees/costs

VOLUME PRICING & DISCOUNTING

We strive to keep the manufacturer list for your project narrow in order to maximize volume discounting. The price we quote you is the price we will invoice you. If you add, remove, or change products, we will produce an updated quote to reflect those changes, including any price changes. Whenever possible, we’ll work with our suppliers to offer discounted pricing, and we’ll clearly communicate any related timing (e.g., purchase before EOY, prior to any pricing increases, etc.).

COMPLIMENTARY SERVICES

With Demco as your furniture provider, you’ll receive consultation, design, and project management services at no cost. This allows you to save on design fees and invest those savings into your project by purchasing additional furniture, increasing the specification of the furniture within your spaces, or enhancing another area within the project.

Consultation: Consultation is a standard part of the Demco process.

Interior Design: In addition to the consultation, Demco will provide interior design services. These services include 2D, 3D, and virtual reality renderings. Design services for a project of this size and scope are provided at no cost and are a standard part of the Demco process.

Project Management: Demco will oversee quotation, ordering, procurement, coordination, and installation of your project.

FEE STRUCTURE & ADDITIONAL FEES

For this project, we will not ask for any pre-payment, deposits, or down payments. We will ask for our standard Net-30 payment terms after each phase of installation.

Your project would be subject to installation fees based on the needs of the project and products installed. Demco will work with local installers and will provide a separate line item on the project quote for installation.

Contracts

Demco holds several nationwide furniture contracts, such as CESA Purchasing, the local agent of the Association of Educational Purchasing Agencies (AEPA); BuyBoard; OMNIA; and TIPS-USA. Our team will work with you to determine which contract terms will be most beneficial based on your district's needs and requirements.

“The School District of Wild Rose partnered with Demco for the design, selection, procurement, and installation of a complete furniture transformation of our educational spaces. Working with Lynne, Emily, and Dr. Robert Dillon made these projects a great success. They were very responsive and from the beginning had a passion for our project, which is evident in our outcomes. The Demco team utilized the power of CESA Purchasing to secure great prices, which were very transparent all the way through from design to installation.”

“Our collaboration with Demco allows Wisconsin schools to benefit from discounted pricing while having the assurance that they are working with a CESA Purchasing-recommended vendor partner. Demco’s exceptional products and services are complemented by their dynamic and dedicated team. We at CESA Purchasing wholeheartedly recommend Demco as a vendor, confident that any project they undertake will yield distinctive and superb results!”

Pilot classrooms

Located in Madison, Demco makes it easy for your team to evaluate products in-person. A pilot classroom is one of the best ways to include your whole school community in the process and to achieve exceptional results for all users. Demco will provide one pilot classroom with mock-up furniture free of charge. You will have the option to purchase the pieces at significantly discounted pricing at or below cost, or we can pick them up after the pilot period.

STEP 1: NEEDS

ASSESSMENT

The Demco team will gather information about your needs, goals, and preferences. Through key conversations and careful observation, we’ll build an understanding of:

• The pedagogy used in the spaces

• Other uses of the spaces

• Ages and special needs of student users

• Storage requirements

• Interest in testing complementary products (rugs, sound absorption, charging solutions, dry-erase boards, floor seating, shelving, etc.)

Demco also works with education experts Dr. Robert Dillon, Amy Uelmen, and Katie Grundahl to provide thought leadership throughout the process, if requested.

STEP 2: PRODUCT SELECTION & DESIGN

With help from our product experts, you’ll choose which products to test in-house. Visit our showroom as many times as you need to compare your options hands-on, or rely on our team to deliver samples to you. Once you’ve chosen your pieces, we’ll use what we learned during the needs assessment to develop a design for the pilot space.

STEP 3:

SET UP THE SPACE & START LEARNING

We’ll hand-deliver, assemble, and install the selected products, leaving the space clean, clutter-free, and ready to use. To ensure you get the most out of it, we also offer:

• Training upon completion of installation

• Reconfiguration guides for your space

• Care and cleaning guides

• Relevant insight from Demco’s expert partners (see p. 15)

STEP

4: PRODUCT EVALUATION

You’ll use the products in your space, evaluate their functionality, and share feedback. We will:

• Provide surveys to gather input from your staff and students

• Sit in and observe how the spaces are used

• Meet with your team regularly and discuss feedback

• Share our findings and highlight how they impact designs

• Update designs and swap products as needed

• Repeat this iterative process until you find the right solutions

STEP

5: POST-PILOT PURCHASING

Pilot classrooms offer a rich environment to test and refine exactly what your community needs. The process makes room for adjustments that better support your real-world use and remove unforeseen barriers to success.

If you’d like to keep any of the sample products, you can purchase them at a significant discount at or below cost. You’ll never be charged for unwanted pieces, which will be picked up in a timely manner.

“[The] team at Demco were fantastic to work with at each phase of our project. During the pilot phase, they made adjustments, were timely, and always had many ideas or ways to meet our needs both for our staff and students. It was fun to see the excitement of not only our staff and students but also the pride Demco took in providing this opportunity for our school. They knew the educational impact this would have on our learning environments and they worked tirelessly to be sure we were satisfied.”

Angie Houston , Middle School Principal, School District of Howards Grove (WI)

“We faced a multi-year referendum project involving nine schools. […] Demco was there for us from designing the space, making numerous changes and installing on time. Their communication is exceptional and attention to detail throughout the project was wonderful. I can’t say enough about their professionalism. They were a wonderful partner to work with.”

Area School District (WI)

The Demco space design process

We’ve designed learning environments across the country, from early learning spaces to higher education, and we understand that each community’s needs are unique. Our designs are responsive to current and future educational practices, diverse student voices, and personal teaching styles, resulting in learning spaces that promote authentic engagement and exploration — inside and outside of the classroom.

We work as an extension of your project team to make this process as easy as possible, allowing you to focus on supporting your school district.

Here’s how we ensure your educational goals are met.

INSPIRING LEARNI N G ENVIRONMENTS

Step 3

Your spaces come to life! We render the designs in 3D based on your specific spaces, building finishes, and architectural elements, and we include students, accessories, and other elements to get as close to the real-life space as possible. We also include VR views and walk-throughs to immerse your team in the spaces they’ll be spending their time in.

Having realistic renderings gives your project stakeholders something to react to, helping them to provide good feedback and enabling our team to more quickly develop solutions that meet everyone’s needs. These renderings and walk-throughs are also great ways to keep your community engaged and excited about the new spaces as the buildings progress!

Step 1

We take the input from your team, pilot furniture or classroom feedback, and high-level vision and goals to lay the groundwork for our designs.

Step 2

We consider the different types of spaces and learning modes needed in each space, and the designs begin to take shape.

Delivery, installation, and maintenance

Bruce Hutchinson will be the lead installer on your projects. He will coordinate the assembly and installation of your furniture with your construction schedule. Whenever possible, Bruce employs 6–8 Demco coworkers from our DeForest manufacturing team to provide installation services. If needed, Bruce will supplement our internal team with other warehouse and installation services through the following contractors:

• Installnet

16901 Melford Blvd Suite #100, Bowie, MD 20715

• A&M Business Interior Services, LLC

4760 McFarland Court, McFarland, WI 53558

Our team can arrange for second-shift installation scheduling, but please note that it might include additional charges depending on the requirements. We’ll work with you to determine the best plan. Please note that our installation services do not cover work that requires a licensed construction tradesperson, such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or carpentry labor.

Terra Cortte will be the project coordinator, and she will coordinate all product shipping and tracking. Amanda will also work closely with Bruce and assist with punch list items.

If manufacturing or shipping delays occur for furniture that is critical to learning or dining functions, Amanda can help coordinate temporary furniture at no cost.

When you partner with Demco, you can expect:

• A smooth opening day with furniture available on the first day of school, guaranteed.

Punch list and follow-up

Following installation, we will document, track, and resolve all punch list items using our D23 system. We assign each item a unique ID number and a Demco coworker who will collaborate with Amanda and the supplier to resolve the issue. Punch list items are a high priority for our suppliers and your Demco project team, and we will meet weekly to review all open issues to ensure we resolve them as quickly as possible. We will provide updates along the way.

• Complimentary design services from a team that collaborates with you to create spaces that meet your goals.

• Full-service installation that ensures your space and staff are ready to open on schedule.

• Confidence in your investment thanks to a partner who stands behind our warranties.

• Follow-up support for as long as you need it.

In the 12–24 months following your project, we will conduct a survey with stakeholders. Our customer insights team will provide the raw data to you, as well as turning it into recommendations for continuous improvement. We’ll also conduct a postoccupancy review to better understand how the new spaces are used and to ensure they support learning as intended.

Many of our suppliers offer some level of limited lifetime warranty, although specific warranties vary by supplier and sometimes by product line. We’ll provide specific relevant warranties for your review. If a concern arises, you will contact us directly so we can find fair and reasonable solutions to any issues that arise — even outside of warranty.

We achieve 100% satisfaction with our D23 punch list system

Re: Letter of Endorsement for Demco

To Whom it May Concern:

The School District of Howards Grove passed a $42.7 million dollar referendum to build a new middle school addition to our current high school. This was a perfect opportunity to modernize our learning spaces and focus on student engagement.

The district went out for RFP and immediately Demco rose to the top. The professional presentation and thorough attention to detail made them our top pick for the furniture design in our new school. The Demco team has been outstanding by working with our teachers and students to provide them voice and choice in selecting pieces of furniture that meet our needs.

Their 3-D design visuals allowed us to see into our new spaces and the pilot furniture in our current classrooms allowed our students and staff to sit and live in their choices before having to make a final decision. Demco has been responsive and attentiv e to all of our needs and provided replacements to items that students didn't enjoy.

We look forward to continuing a long term relationship with Demco for all of our furniture needs.
