INSTRUCTORS

CHARLES KLEEMAN: Charlie Kleeman is a graduate of Drexel and Penn State in the Environmental Science field. He had a career with the Environmental Protection Agency in Philadelphia for five years. He has taught Environmental Science at DelVal University for about 15 years. And he has taught a variety of courses in CLR since that time.

ALAN FREEDMAN: Having been in the field for more than 60 years, Alan Freedman developed a “computer literacy” seminar for managers in the 1970s and has been involved with computer education ever since. He authors ComputerLanguage.com, the largest encyclopedia of technical definitions ever written by one person, which boils down to one thing... he is “totally nuts.”

JACK SILLERY: Jack Sillery has taught 5 literature courses for CLR. He is a retired Juvenile Probation Officer having served Bucks County for 20 years. He received a B. A. in English (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Scranton and an M.A. in Psychology (with distinction) from Rider University. Literature has remained a passion for him throughout the years, and he has enjoyed working with CLR members in the various courses he has instructed.

ROBERT BENCHER: Robert L Bencher has taught several business-related courses over the last 20+ years with an emphasis on value creation of early-stage companies. He’s worked over 40+ years in the healthcare related field in commercialization roles for large, midsize, and small organizations. He’s been involved with (3) start-up companies with varying levels of success with one leading to a $100M capital acquisition. Mr. Bencher holds a B.A. Degree (1983) from Michigan State University and a M.B.A. Degree (1987) from Loyola University of Chicago.

JIM KARTHAUS: Jim is a full-time assistant professor of financial planning and I teach fellow advisors the Certified Financial Planning Curriculum at The American College of Financial Planning, which is one of the leading financial plannings focused institutions in the US. I am a Doylestown resident and a practicing financial planner in the area.

NANCY MCELWEE: Nancy McElwee taught for 35 years in the Central Bucks School District. Two years after she retired, she took a tour of Pearl Buck’s home in Perkasie and was immediately hooked and greatly inspired by Miss Buck’s legacy. She gives tours, manages the volunteer gift shop and in the past has served as President of the Pearl S. Buck Volunteer Association.

INSTRUCTORS

DON TENENBLATT: Tenenblatt, Don is a composer and lyricist, was a member of the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop in NYC and has played piano and/or music directed for numerous dance, opera, and musical theatre productions in NYC, NJ, and PA including PA Ballet and Opera Theatre at TCNJ. He is pianist for Capital Philharmonic of NJ and Bucks County Symphony, accompanist and adjunct professor for the Chorus at Delaware Valley University and teaches voice and piano lessons privately in the Doylestown area. He holds degrees in music from Yale and Rutgers Universities. Be sure to tune into his YouTube playlist. You will not want to miss a beat!

SUZY MOORE: Forty years a lawyer with a passion and hobbies for acting, theatre, public speaking, choral music and flute. We have been retired for three years and finding ways to spend our time! DelVal CLR Classes including memoir writing and teaching a Virtual Improv Class. Also, pickleball; gardens through the Gardens of the Area Green passport book; art classes and trip to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville NC. I played in Temple University’s Night Owl Band; take tap dancing classes and enjoy singing and conducting with the DelVal Chorus in the Community Conductor’s Program and playing in the DelVal Symphonic Band.

ARNOLD FEINEMAN: Arnold Feineman is a retired Air Force Reserve Officer and a retired Chief Systems Engineer. His honors include the Air Force Systems Command Award for Scientific Achievement and election to the AOC Technology Hall of Fame. He holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Electrical Engineering and has been granted two US patents.

JOHN DEITZ: John has been endlessly entertained by how the earth and the universe work. Making his own telescopes, scuba diving and photography since an early age these passions came together in college, earning a BS, Marine Science-Biology, Southampton College, LIU.

SHARI O’ FLANAGAN: Shari O’Flanagan is a retired Spanish teacher. She received her B.A. in Spanish Literature from Muhlenberg College & her M.A. in Spanish Literature from Montclair State University where she was also an adjunct professor. She spent several summers at the Universities of Madrid, Alicante & Cadiz in Spain. She has traveled to many Spanish-speaking countries such as Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Spain & Colombia & looks forward to sharing her knowledge & experiences with her students.
