The Power of One Day Delta Sigma Phi’s 2015 Day of Giving In 2014, Delta Sig Nation set a new record for one-day participation and proceeds from its inaugural Day of Giving challenge on Dec. 10—the Fraternity’s Founders’ Day. During a 24-hour period, Delta Sig raised $38,308 from 384 donors, beating initial goals by more than 255 percent. The early goal was to reach at least 115 donors to capture a $50,000 challenge match from six alumni donors. That goal was met at 11:34 a.m., with an additional 269 donors making gifts throughout the day. The largest single gift received was for $5,000 (not counting the challenge donors). During the peak of the day, Delta Sig was receiving around one new gift per minute! “I chose to participate in the 2014 Day of Giving because I saw it as a great way to start repaying the debt while still in school. I love Delta Sig and wanted to do what I could to help others have the best possible experience as a member of this great Fraternity,” said Chuck Terch, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse ’13. Delta Sig’s 2014 Day of Giving was an inspiring and overwhelming show of support by our brotherhood. The comments received throughout the day reinforced what the Foundation has long known: Delta Sig brothers are proud of their membership, want to give back, and want Delta Sig’s unique blend of excellence and values to thrive for years to come. Delta Sig’s 2015 Day of Giving will again harness the power of social media to create a national moment dedicated to giving. Members are invited to support any area that they are passionate about, from the Leadership Institute to the LAMP or student scholarships to the Leadership and Innovation Fund (General Fund). Brothers can even make a gift in honor or in memory of someone important in their life. The goal for 2015 is 233 percent higher than last year, and if successful, will be the most money ever raised in the United States by a fraternal-

organized giving day. Five generous alumni will again match every dollar you donate. “I am taking part in the Day of Giving because I believe in the Foundation’s goals of making better men for our Fraternity and our society. Delta Sigma Phi played a strong and important role in my college years, and I want to do my part to make sure others have the same experience,” said Rodney Gould, Eureka College ‘84, one of this year’s matching donors. 5 Reasons to Participate in the Day of Giving 1. You’ll live longer. New data shows those who are generous, charitable and altruistic, live longer. You feel more fulfilled, more expressive of who you are, and likely, more control and freedom in your life. 2. You can give the gift of life-changing education and get a tax write-off while you’re at it. 3. You don’t have to be as rich as Bill Gates to make a difference. A gift of $35 buys a student workbook for Presidents’ Academy! 4. You can turn your $35 donation into a $70 donation. Donations are being matched on the Day of Giving, dollar for dollar. Every bit helps! 5. Because you can! The most important reason to participate in the Day of Giving is because you can. It is our duty to Pay the Debt and help those in need. It is the only way we can make our Fraternity better not just for ourselves, but also for the future generations.
