Tennis and Entertainment Take Over Atlantic Ave The Delray Beach Open by the Venetian® Las Vegas February 13-22

Tennis lovers from near and far and those looking for a good time will head to Atlantic Ave. on Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day weekend for the Delray Beach Open by The Venetian® Las Vegas. The 23-year-old tennis tournament, which has been held at The Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis Center for 17-years, is the only ATP tournament featuring an ATP World Tour event and an ATP Champions Tour event in the same week at the same venue. The inaugural ATP Champions Tour event in 2010 was the first-ever played on US soil, and the event features tennis professionals who have retired from the ATP World Tour. The 2015 event pits a US team with Michael Chang, James Blake and Justin Gimelstob against an International team of Goran Ivanisevic, Emilio Sanchez and Mark Philippoussis. The first team to win five of the nine matches wins the team competition and event’s trophy. A highlight to opening weekend will be Super Sunday when all six legends will be in action. The Delray Beach Open’s ATP World Tour event is one of 10 events in the United States on the global ATP World Tour and one of 60 in 30 countries worldwide. The reigning US Open doubles champions and ATP “Fan Favorite” award winners for 10 years, the Bryan Brothers, will join reigning US Open singles champion Marin Cilic as well as 2009 US Continued on page 15

16th Annual Delray Beach Garlic Fest . . . Best Stinkin’ Party in Town

N

ow in its 16th year, the Internationally Award Winning Event “Delray Beach Garlic Fest” is THE signature food and entertainment event in the city. The Garlic Fest is focused on community involvement and participation and is produced by a dedicated team of 500 volunteers. The festivities include live national act entertainment, artists & crafters, and garlic-infused cuisine that permeate the air. The 3-day event will be held Friday through Sunday, February 6 - 8, 2015. Festival hours are Friday: 5PM-11PM, Saturday: 11AM-11PM, Sunday: 11AM-7PM.

Savor the Avenue

Reservations open February 1st

I

t is time to make your reservations for the 7th annual Savor the Avenue on March 26th! Tickets go on sale February 1st for an evening of dining under the stars – and down the double yellow line of famed Atlantic Avenue – at the food and wine event of the year. Join hundreds of guests – and 18 of Downtown Delray’s finest restaurants – at Florida’s longest dining table, one that runs more than five blocks and 1,300 feet long stretching from Swinton Avenue east to Fifth Avenue (U.S. 1). This is the event you don’t want to miss! This year‘s participating restaurants are: 32 East, 50 Ocean, Cabana Nuevo Latino , Caffe Luna Rosa, City Oyster & Sushi Bar, Cut 432, D.I.G., Lemongrass, Max’s Harvest, Max’s Social House, Prime, Rack’s Fish House & Oyster Bar, Salt 7, Solita Delray, Taverna Opa, The Office, Tryst, and Vic & Angelo’s. Each 4-course dinner is paired with select wines that are donated by local beverage distributors to each restaurant. The DDA is also proud to announce that a portion of the proceeds from Savor the Avenue will be donated to Delray’s Campaign for Grade Level Reading. Restaurants will donate $3.00 of each reservation to this non-profit to assist in funding books and tutoring programs that will prepare children for life. Over 45% of the children in Delray Beach do not read on a grade level in 3rd Grade. We are thrilled to be able to support this program, “said Laura Simon, Associate Director, DDA.
