In 2016, Deloitte Vietnam is proud to be marking our 25th Anniversary – a significant milestone of our firm. Over the past 25 years, thanks to the effort and dedication of all the generations of Deloitte colleagues, we have built the shared values that make us differentiate and stand out in market. What we are doing today here at Deloitte is to continue strengthening and developing these values to create new success and achieve new milestones in 2016 and the years to come.

Welcome FY16 New Interns On 14 December 2015, we welcomed new interns in Hanoi Office and Ho Chi Minh Office. After overcoming thousands other applicants in Breaking the Limit competition, they were trained for a month by our internal facilitators before official joining Deloitte Vietnam as FY 16 Interns to be ready for the busy season. We do believe that FY16 New Interns will bring their passion and enthusiasm to contribute to the firm as their performance in Breaking The Limit competition.

Celebration party - 25th Anniversary of Deloitte Vietnam In 2016, we will celebrate 25th Anniversary of Deloitte Vietnam – a quarter-century milestone on our journey to excellence. D-Coffee and D-Hour Following the launch of 1st D-Coffee: Innovation Day in September, Deloitte Vietnam had successfully organized two more sessions of D-Coffee in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City offices before the busy season officially started in December. D-Coffee brings our colleagues an opportunity to start a working day in a totally new way: having breakfast and a cup of coffee with other colleagues when enjoying inspiring talks and sharing of DCoffee guest speakers. The topics may vary from tips on how to stay motivated at work to the tips for a healthy life, or even the topic about the TPP and the impact of the TPP on Deloitte people, but all of D-Coffee sessions

attracted many colleagues from different levels and functions to attend and participate in discussions.

This busy season, our colleagues have something new and exciting to look forward to every Tuesday: D-Hour.

The idea of D-Hour started with a desire to bring our colleagues a chance to get away from all papers during the busy season, leave their tables and release the stress having some great time with good food and relaxing conversations. We hope that with the slogan ‘We don’t do happy hour. We do Deloitte happy hours.’ D-Hour will help our colleagues work more effectively and overcome the busy season in the most successful way.

Updates on Deloitte Interactions with students In November, Deloitte Vietnam participated in various activities for students to promote the image of Deloitte Vietnam not only to students currently living in Vietnam, but also to Vietnamese students studying overseas. On 14/11 and 15/11 in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi respectively, representatives from audit and tax functions of Deloitte Vietnam attended Career Expo hosted by CPA Australia. Later in November, Ms. Trang Tran, Human Resources Director was invited to be a judge in ICAEW Business Challenge for SVUK held in London. Following these events, Deloitte Vietnam also participated in “Tour de Job” – a job fair model organized for the first time for Vietnamese students in the UK.

Travel allowance – News & Experience With the desire to enhance rewards and benefits program for Deloitte colleagues, Travel allowance policy for Managers & Above was launched in November 2015

by Human Resources Team. Mai Linh Taxi cards and F-Cards (Gasoline cards) with detailed instructions have been delivered to managerial levels to make their daily traveling to work become more comfortable. After one month of implementation, the feedback received about this policy is very positive: “Even though sometimes there are still some problems in process of using Mai Linh Taxi Card due to the problems with POS system of the taxi group, in overall, travel allowance policy is a great benefit that Deloitte brings to our colleagues. Personally, I am much more motivated during this busy season. Some Managers & above have already sold their cars to utilize the benefits of the program :)”, - Mr. Son Le - Audit Manager – Hanoi Office “With the travel allowance granted to Manager, I felt that the employee life is really in a good care and consideration of the Company management. Thanks for a great added up offer!”

We do hope that this program will bring much motivation to Managers & above, and also encourage younger levels to step up into a higher level in the next financial years.

SEA Audit Mobility Program Stories While we are starting the busy season with increasing workload here in Vietnam, some of our colleagues are working hard this busy season but maybe with even more pressure, because this year they are experiencing not only the pressure of the busy season, but also the pressure of new work environment and culture. This season Deloitte Vietnam is proud to have 8 colleagues accepted to Audit Mobility Program: 6 in Deloitte Malaysia and 2 in Deloitte Philippines.

AMP brings to our colleagues many opportunities to grow and develop in international environment, but this also means than they have many challenges to overcome. Ms. Thuy Vu shared that she found language barrier most challenging when working with Malaysian and Chinese colleagues, but from the positive side, this created a motivation for her and others to improve their English and learn Chinese. For Mr. Ha Phan, the first job in Deloitte

Malaysia Office was assigned after only 2 days of training and that was also his first job with a role of senior in charge. The first steps are never easy, but with the support of Manager and other team members, Ha still completed the engagement with joy and excitement.

This year, these colleagues are going to celebrate holiday season far from their families. But living together in another country, they found for them another family: Deloitte family. Deloitte Vietnam wish these Deloitters joy, happiness and success in upcoming new year, and we do believe that they will overcome all the challenges and take the most with them to bring back home to Deloitte Vietnam very soon.

Cardinal Rules of Carry-ons The holiday season is coming and you may already have some plans to escape from the city. Packing for a holiday is pivotal. Forget an essential item and you’re left disappointed and scrambling to find the nearest store in your destination. Pack too much and you end up disorganized, burdened with heavy bags, and hemorrhaging money to pay for pricey airline baggage fees. So we thought it best to revisit the most basic – and most useful – packing rules. Here are some packing tips that every traveler should learn.

1. Have yourself a packing list to ensure that you never, ever forget to bring something important.

2. Roll your clothes instead of folding them – it minimizes wrinkles and maximizes space.

3. Limit yourself to two pairs of shoes and two pairs of pants, and wear the heavier items on the plane. (Bonus points if you can pull your trip off with just one.)

4. Don’t pack more than a week’s worth of clothes. For longer trips, plan to do laundry along the way.

5. Pack only garments that can be color-coordinated with everything else in your travel wardrobe. If it doesn’t work in multiple outfits, leave it at home.

6. Every little bit of space helps. Clean all those old grocery store receipts out of your wallet, swap your pile of paperbacks for an e-reader and forget about those ‘just in case’ items you could easily buy in your destination.

7. Maximize your personal item. In addition to a carry-on bag, airlines allow you to bring a personal item such as a purse or laptop bag. Forget about wasting your personal item with a tiny purse. Bring a backpack or a tote bag, which can give you an extra space but will still fit easily under the seat in front of you. If you need a purse during your trip, fold it up inside a larger bag.

Handy Health Tips It’s inevitable that you’ll be going to at least a few parties this holiday season, whether it’s the office holiday party or your friend’s family dinners. Here are a few tips could help you welcome a Healthy New Year.

Sip Smartly A single shot of vodka, gin, or rum mixed with club or diet soda and a squeeze of lime will set you back only about 100 calories. Try to fill your glass only halfway each time to keep your total intake down. Champagne or pink Prosecco are both great options. Not only are they low on the calorie chart – around 80 to 120 per glass – but they’re also more likely to be sipped rather than guzzled.

Be active Walk to parties/functions, and stand as often as you can. Play is exercise, and exercise saves lives.

Keep the focus on fun, not food Most holidays are associated with certain foods. That doesn’t mean food has to be the main focus. You can plan around holiday activities to keep snacking to a minimum.

Get enough sleep With many commitments and events over be Christmas and New Year period, regular sleeping patterns can be interrupted. In order to help with sleep, try to stop drinking well before bed time and allow yourself a sleep-in whenever you can to catch up on lost sleep.
