The first six years of a child’s life are the most critical years for lifelong development as the foundation for their cognitive, physical, social and emotional skillsgetbuiltforholisticgrowth. Around 20 million children in this age bracket in Indiadonotattendpreschool,resultingin their missing out on educational opportunities at a critical stage of their development. Save the Children believes working towards provisioning of Early Childhood Education as one of the key strategies that will prepare children in the agegroup3-6yearswithschoolreadiness skillsandimprovetheirqualityoflearning.
The prime intent behind creating the digital flipbook is to capture the impact of the Save The Children project that strengthens early learning through a play-based learning approach for children aged 3-8 years. The flipbook will use illustrations and graphics to capture the work of the Anganwadi Workers/preschool teachers, teachers for Grade 1 and 2, and caregivers at homeastheyimpartlearningthroughplayduring regular household activities and using materials available in their immediate environment. The specially designed toolkit and calendar that have been prepared for the different stakeholders to underline their roles and responsibilities to ensure that the children experience a play based learning environment at home will be included in theflipbook.
