Supporting learners at Dell Medical School

TODAY’S STUDENTS, TOMORROW’S HEALTH LEADERS

CHANGING CARE STARTS WITH LEARNING IT

Boasting a first-of-its-kind curriculum and renowned faculty, Dell Medical School is uniquely positioned to prepare tomorrow’s physician leaders for tomorrow’s challenges. As vital partners in our work to transform health, Dell Med students possess not only the aptitude and ambition to succeed as doctors but also the vision, creativity and skills to become health care leaders.

The educational experience at Dell Medical School attracts thousands of applicants each year. But with higher education growing more expensive by the year, scholarship support is more important than ever. Most students who choose other schools after receiving an offer from Dell Med do so because of a better financial-aid package. And many in-state competitors have begun to offer full scholarships that cover both tuition and living expenses.

Why Scholarships Matter

Key in bringing standout students to Dell Med, scholarships:

Help us compete with top medical schools for the best applicants

Make medical school possible for the broadest range of students

Empower students to take full advantage of our signature curriculum

MEDICAL STUDENTS

THE POWER OF A DELL MED EDUCATION

Dell Medical School’s curriculum takes full advantage of The University of Texas at Austin’s reputation and resources. When you support education at Dell Med, you connect future doctors to groundbreaking coursework that prepares them to be as capable of taking on systemic challenges in health as they are caring for individual patients. Here, teaching medicine means:

• An accelerated basic-science curriculum that connects students with patients in their second year — a year sooner than most other medical schools.

• A third-year Innovation, Leadership and Discovery block allowing students to conduct research, lead projects, or earn a master’s degree in subjects such as business administration, health care transformation, biomedical engineering, design in health, public affairs, and more

• Courses in leadership, interprofessional education and clinical skills throughout students’ four years at Dell Med.

Dell Med needs competitive financial aid to attract applicants with the most potential to apply this transformative curriculum to the health care landscape. Undergraduate medical education* ensures that the innovations of today impact our community for generations, and that education is only possible with your support. Dell Med has the curriculum, the faculty, and the applicants — now

we

need the scholarships.

“ Your belief in the potential of students like me inspires us to push boundaries and create a brighter future for health care.”

RESIDENTS AND FELLOWS

PROVIDING CARE, LEADING CHANGE

Medicine never stops growing, and neither should doctors. Part of what sets graduate medical education at Dell Med apart is a curriculum focused not just on specialties but on health systems science: Advancing Care Transformation, or ACT*. This unique approach to education focuses on equipping graduate students to tackle systemic challenges in health care and direct the evolution of our health landscape.

Dell Med offers invaluable clinical experiences across a range of specialties taught by nationally recognized leaders in their fields. With the development of the UT Medical Center, the resources available to residents and fellows will continue to grow, further establishing Dell Medical School as a premier destination for learning innovative and effective care

*ACT: a core requirement for residents emphasizing valuebased care, quality improvement, equity and leadership. Residents or fellows may also pursue a Distinction in Care Transformation, which requires completing an individual scholarly health systems project, either within Dell Med or within other colleges across The University of Texas at Austin campus.

Graduate medical education students previously earned a medical degree and are completing specialty training.

“ I hope to contribute to emergency medicine by uplifting the underserved and continually paving the way for an innovative and integrative structure to connect patients to appropriate long-term care.”

At Dell Med, I had the unique opportunity to work with the Texas Health Catalyst innovation program, which put me in touch with engineers, investors and more — even more reason to stay here for a fellowship and, hopefully, continue to be a part of Dell Med and its service to Travis County.”
