‘Children’s House’ is a space intended to prevent child malnutrition by providing nutritional material, the development of hygiene and healthcare awareness raising programmes, the organisation of paediatric and social care appointments, housing for at-risk patients, and the training of community nurses, who will guide local families on best practice in relation to prevention and nutrition.

This task refers to an architecture competition by Kaira Looro. The Children's House aimed to be built in Senegal, Africa. The building only has one floor which consists of administration, recreation, medical examination rooms, storage for storing food and medicines and also toilets.

DESIGN CONCEPT

The Children's House strives to provide a secure environment for both moms and their children. Two buildings facing one other with a semi-outdoor area between that may be used as a gathering spot and for kids to play together provide a safe environment. In order to separate the children's house's outside and interior spaces and to give a safe impression, an earth brick wall was also constructed around the outside space.

Buildings must prioritize the usage of locally sourced materials and be as sustainable as feasible in order to meet the requirements of this assignment. As a result, wood was selected for construction and earth brick for the walls.

Citatah Stone Garden is located approximately 26 kilometers away and is used as both a research and tourist destination. The garden's karst surroundings provide proof that, 25 million years ago, the region was a shallow seabed. This karst, which is situated in Padalarang, Bandung, hopes to draw more visitors and karst education facilities. However, there isn't a visitor center where visitors can learn more about Citatah Karst.

The contoured area was chosen as a new learning medium for this semester. The Visitor Center typology was also chosen to train students to integrate buildings with their environment by paying attention to topography and certain natural features. The space program for this assignment needs to include outdoor and indoor galleries, cafes and restaurants, the Citatah karst counter, as well as public facilities related to the place.

DESIGN CONCEPT

The mass of buildings arranged in a semi-U-shape is used to respond to the surrounding valleys and hills. The first mass has the function of serving as an office and cafe, overlooking the hill on the south side of the site. The second mass is made in the form of an L-shape, with the restaurant section having a view of the Citatah karst and the lobby section having a view of the western hill of the site.

One of a section of Bandung City's downtown is known as Banda Street. The possibility to build a hotel that can accommodate the demands of guests and be affordable for all groups exists because this route is bordered by a variety of public spaces, including culinary area, workplaces, retail centers, and medical centers.

The low-cost hotel type was selected as the highrise building learning medium for this endeavor. The selected site is located on an elongated shape, and is on hook ground. This budget hotel consists of three basements, two podium floors, and six typical floors, for a total of 156 rooms.

DESIGN CONCEPT

The building's east and west orientation, which meant that the bedrooms would get a lot of sunlight, was one of the tasks' problems. In response, the facade's windows are outfitted with screens that will reduce the amount of excessive light that enters the space. To prevent too much light, the bed is positioned in the room back to back with the window.

This assignment's primary goal is to give students an understanding of the technologies used in wide-span structure timber construction. The wood that is discussed in this assignment is engineered wood, or wood that has been combined with other materials (composite timber construction) or processed in a way that increases its strength.

This project is part of the construction project of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) office complex in East Kalimantan, which is being carried out by PT. Maratama Cipta Mandiri along with several other companies. The project is located on a site with a total area of 123,803 square meters and is equipped with natural disaster management training facilities as well as other facilities and infrastructure.

THE SHARD

AR2210 Shape Editing Studio 4th Semester, 2021

The course AR2210 covers the creation of mockups and the integration of spatial modifications with users. Students examine spatial compositions for multiple masses in this project.

MASSING DEVELOPMENT

The Shard is a massing with a function that aims to be a co-working space and library and consists of six building masses. The middle of the surrounding masses is an open space for a gathering point and pedestrian access to the buildings around it.
