Delirium appears as a slender, tall figure. One eye is deep crimson with a faint glow; the other constantly shifts hue flickering between violet, green, and opalescent pink, like a tear trapped in oil. It might not be an eye at all, but a memory filter. Hair waist length - asymmetrically cut. Clothing draped in IPC

Dellirium is not loud in his madness. He does not wail, or claw, or tremble. He curates his insanity. Each moment of dissonance is chosen like a wine, poured slowly over porcelain conversation. The crack in him is not wide, it's hairline, perfect, and it runs through everything he says. He is madness in lowercase. He let himself go soft in the middle to survive the weight of memory and meaning. He compliments your sorrow like it’s an art. He smiles when something beautiful ends not out of cruelty, but because he sees endings as art.

The IPC needed someone to distill emotions into currency, and so he let himself become porous, absorbing too much, until his mind no longer held form. He doesn’t forget things. He remembers too many versions of the same moment. He remembers standing in the rain on a planet he’s never visited, being kissed by a name no one gave him. He remembers dying, or watching someone else do it through his own eyes.

He is haunted by discarded selves. When something major is wrong he probably says things like “Oh. I think someone else was supposed to feel this.”

by Delirium of the Endless from Neil Gaiman’s Sandman Universe. The curator, who is me, is a fan of The Sandman and drew deep thematic and aesthetic influence from it. This character is not meant to replicate Delirium, but rather to explore how a similarly abstract persona might function in a science-fiction capitalist

TWO. Delirium is my love letter to Delirium

of the Endless, one of the most singular characters in fiction. The way Delirium speaks half-fractured logic, half soul-deep truth is something I find eternally compelling. He’s a character that repackages emotions. He’s terrifying because he understands people too well, but doesn’t feel with them anymore. Or maybe he does, and that’s what broke him.

He’s what happens when art is weaponized.
