Eshna Sharma is the recipient of Wingword Poetry Prize 2019. She is an eighteen year old poet from Lucknow, India. Eshna's work traces her personal growth as she matures, crossing the threshold from teenager to adult. In the book Girlhood, she expresses her disillusionment and disorientation of growing up, of finding out that the world has never been rosy. Eshna hopes that her poetry will strike a chord with teenage readers. She seeks to help them in developing their own perspectives and coping with a plethora of changes in order to make a healthy transition to adulthood.
