Lokpal panel finalises report, Team Anna rejects it

New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS) The Parliamentary Standing Committee examining the Lokpal bill finalised its draft report Wednesday amidst increased dissent from members, including those of the Congress, over various provisions but Anna Hazare rejected the proposed legislation as unlikely to check corruption. Panel chairman Abhishek Manu Singhvi said the report, carrying dissent notes, is likely to be presented in parliament Dec 9. “We have adopted the draft report. It is likely to be presented to parliament Friday,” Singhvi told IANS, adding that the final report will comprise the points of dissent. Singhvi said the panel examined around 25 issues and agreed on most of them. “But there are differences on some issues,” he said. Sources said of

around 15 dissent notes on various issues, most relate to exclusion of around 5.7 million Group C staff, the largest chunk of government employees, from the Lokpal’s ambit. While members from the Bharatiya Janata Party, Left parties and the Samajwadi Party have already submitted their dissent notes over the point, three Congress members -- Deepa Dasmunsi, P.T. Thomas and Meenakshi Natrajan -- joined them Wednesday. The three Congress members also want the Chief Vigilance Commissioner under the Lokpal. Another contentious issue was whether the prime minister should come under the purview of the ombudsman. Singhvi said the controversial issues have been left for parliament to debate and resolve.

New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS) The Congress Wednesday reacted cautiously to government moves for a code of conduct for social media , calling for larger debate, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was supportive but said Communications Minister Kapil Sibal’s way of approaching the issue is not right. Congress spokesman Manish Tewari hoped the government would hold threadbare consultations with all stakeholders before taking a decision. “The issue is very sensitive and it needs larger debate. We hope that the government will take any step

after this issue is discussed threadbare with all stakeholders,” Tewari said answering a query over the controversy involving content on social media such as Facebook and Google. BJP leader S.S. Ahluwalia supported the government’s view on objectionable content on the social networking sites but said Sibal’s way of approaching the issue is not right. “We condemn if some distortion has taken place on such sites. No political party would approve distortion of images of public figures on the social network sites,” Ahluwalia said.

But he said that “Sibal’s way of regulating them is not okay”. Ahluwalia compared the government’s move to ask the social networking sites to block objectionable content with the way it treated yoga guru Baba Ramdev when he protested the black money issue in Delhi earlier in the year and was asked to give a declaration on ending the agitation. The BJP leader said the government should instead bring the regulation that it planned for these social network sites to parliament for discussion. “We will give our views then,” he said.

Pakistan businesses want trade barriers to India cut

New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS): Pakistan's business leaders have called for minimization of tariff and non-tariff barriers with India and treating it as a "routine trade partner." "India and Pakistan are keen to start new trade regime and minimize non-tariff barriers," said Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, president of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, here. Greece approves 2012 budget amid austerity protests Athens, Dec 7 (IANS) The Greek parliament early Wednesday approved the country's 2012 budget designed to tackle a severe debt crisis, amid fresh anti-austerity protests that briefly turned violent Tuesday. With the support of the three parties backing the one-month-old interim government of Lucas Papademos, the budget, that includes further austerity measures, easily cleared the 300-member assembly in the roll-call vote, reported Xinhua. However, the implementation of the policies outlined in the budget, according to local analysts, is expected to be a difficult task for the administration of the technocrat premier, given the negative climate within Greece and across the euro zone as the crisis adds pressure on neighboring economies. Despite Wednesday's positive outcome, even parliamentarians who approved the budget expressed skepticism whether deficit cutting targets could be achieved. According to the draft budget, the Greek economy will shrink by 5.5 percent this year and the contraction will continue for a fifth consecutive year in 2012 with a rate of up to 2.8 percent.

Many important issues, including the need for a better mobile connectivity to improve communication for business and trade, relay of television channels and allowing Pakistani programmes to be telecast in India, opening up of bank branches on reciprocal basis, were discussed during a meeting of business leaders of the two countries, according to a statement released by PHD Chamber Wednesday.

New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS): Indian industry's euphoria over the government's decision to throw open the country's retail trade to foreign companies gave way to despair Wednesday after Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee announced suspension of the plans owing to political pressure from both within the ruling coalition and outside. India Inc, which had hailed the decision taken last month as one that signaled a movement forward in the reforms process and that would help farmers, consumers, and small and medium enterprises, felt let down and said it sent wrong signals overseas.

"The government decision to hold back up to 51 percent FDI in multibrand retail and 100 percent in single brand retail is deeply disappointing," said Harsh Mariwala, president, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). "It is a highly regressive move. For the growth of this vital sector of the economy which is likely to result in strong linkages with the farm sector and for the economy as a whole, it is imperative that the reforms like these should take place," Mariwala said. Indian economy in a difficult situation: Pranab

New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS): Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee Wednesday said India's economy is in a "difficult situation" because of slowing growth, stubborn inflation and a widening fiscal deficit, but its basic fundamentals are strong. "The economy is in a difficult situation but that does not mean that we shall have to start eating lizards," Mukherjee said in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of parliament. India's economic growth slumped to 6.9 percent in the July-September quarter against the budgetary tar-

get of 9 percent growth for 2011-12. During the first half of the fiscal, the economy grew by 7.3 percent. Mukherjee said the projection of 9 percent growth during the budget was not a pipe dream, but the unexpected high prices of oil and other commodities coupled with a slowdown in global economies, notably in Europe and the US, had hit the Indian economy hard. "The hard fact is there are certain situation on which you do not have a control but you have to face the consequences," he said.

Apple in price-fixing probe

The European Commission is probing claims that Apple and the five publishing houses -- HarperCollins, Penguin, Hachette Livre, Simon & Schuster and Germany's Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck -- have worked together to keep eBook prices artificially high. "Holding back the cabinet decision on foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail due to political opposition is a clear case of missed opportunity that will dent the country's image as a global investment destination," leading industry lobby Assocham said. "It is a clear case of missed opportunity that would have created over 10 million of new jobs in three years, curbed agricultural wastage, benefited farmers with better prices for their produce and brought down prices of many commodities for consumers."

T

he carbon trading market may be headed for a crash if negotiations at the climate change conference are any indication, according to experts at the ongoing . This is likely to impact China and India the most, as the two make up almost three-fourths of the trade on carbon exchanges. "India is likely to be most affected if the second round of Kyoto Protocol is not signed. China is already taking steps to tackle the issue; India is not," said Axel Michaelowa, who advises corporates on carbon trading.

India to be hit by collapse of carbon trading market

"The carbon markets will crash if Durban fails to send a strong signal that the next round of Kyoto Protocol negotiations are on track," concurred Remi Gruet of the European Wind Energy Association, an industry body. Wind energy projects are major contributors to the carbon trading regime known as the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) under the Kyoto Protocol with wind projects worth $75 billion expected to be set up next year. The protocol, signed and ratified by most developed countries, legally binds them to cut human-induced carbon dioxide emissions, which are said by the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to be responsible for global warming. Under the Protocol, each developed country is given a quota on how much emission it can produce -- in turn, the countries limit the emissions of each company or project. But such companies can offset their obligation of cutting emissions by buying Certified Emission Reductions or CERs on carbon exchanges.

CERs are sold by companies and institutions in third world countries who have taken steps to go green or set up environmental friendly projects. The CERs are awarded to them by the CDM's executive board. This is a way to bring in market mechanism and the incentive system to overall reduce emissions. According to Arun Bharat Ram, chairman of SRF, one of the leading companies in India benefiting from CERs, said as an industry, they have told the government that it should take steps to negotiate the continuation of carbon trading with the European Union, even if the Kyoto Protocol is not extended. The price of CERs in Europe has slipped sharply to Euro 6.18 now, from its peak of Euro 30 in 2008. India has been the second highest beneficiary of the CDM, touching 60.5 million CERs in 2010. China touched 346 million. The leading companies in India dealing in the certificates, apart from SRF, are Torrent Power, Gujarat Fluro Chemicals, Navin Flourine International and Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers. According to a recent report by research firm Crisil, Indian projects are estimated to receive 246 million CERs by December 2012, an almost four-fold increase. But with the Kyoto Protocol doubtful, companies dealing with the certificates, or those who want to get into this, would be looking very nervously at Durban. According to Margaret Mukha-

She said that an agreement on the principles of setting up a second protocol were "farfetched in light of the position taken by major countries". the developing world and some developed countries. Another threat on the horizon is that under UN rules, after December 2012, new CDM projects would be approved only for the least developed countries (which do not include either India or China), although projects already awarded carbon certificates can keep on trading them on the exchanges. The market may be headed for further slide, even though experts say some amount of discounting on what is expected in Durban is already discernible. Hardev Sanotra (IANS)

Authority figures prefer people who know their ‘place’ and ‘tow the line’. Authority figures tend to dislike people who feel compelled to step forward with ideas about how established systems might be improved. This makes them appear inept. You appear to be dealing with an authority figure that isn’t over the moon with your keenness to highlight a flaw in their system. When the drama dies down, you will have made a permanent difference.

In courts, people are asked to swear to tell nothing but the truth. Apart from connecting the person taking the oath to a lie detector, this is the easiest way for individuals in courtrooms to be reassured that statements taken will be truthful. You appear to want reassurance that what you’re being told by a certain person is real, honest and right. Soon, information will come to light to reassure you.

A partnership of some kind is becoming a priority now. You might be focused on strengthening an existing one or a new alliance could be taking up much of your thinking time but you and another are moving what has been a predictable and safe arrangement up a notch or two. The sky insists there is some degree of longevity attached to this. Both you and this other person can only benefit from what is being agreed now.

No need to be such a drama queen!

Honesty is the best policy only when you aren’t the one lying!

Everyone is happy! What else can you ask for?

If an offer of help is available, is it not worth taking? Where a difficult or tense situation is concerned, you could use a helping hand and that is precisely what’s being offered to you. Your refusal of help has more to do with stubbornness than anything else. Nobody is expecting you to swallow pride or make grand apologetic gestures but life would be considerably easier if you would accept at least person truly wants what’s best for you and can provide it!

Do you care what others think? Perhaps you’ve had one or two close companions speak their minds about ways in which you’re progressing a goal close to your heart but do you believe their comments or suggestions are valid? That’s what you need to decide now. You think you’re doing no wrong where your pursuit of something is concerned but others think differently. If the words ‘self respect’ haven’t been said to you already, then they will be soon.

Word processors try to be helpful. Sometimes, they are not. They think they know best about how some words and phrases should appear. They even auto-correct as we type and still get it wrong. The software is only capable of doing what it has been programmed to do. Help of some kind is being provided to you now but is a long way from how you wish you were being helped. Soon, precisely the kind of help you require will become available.

Just suck it up and admit you need help!

Words are meant to be spoken and not always forgotten!

Either way help is on the way!

Somewhere in your world, you’re making an assumption. Elsewhere, a certain person is doing the same. If you were able somehow to put these two assumptions together, both you and you-know-who would probably be startled at how inaccurate a picture would be created. You believe a certain situation to be true. Someone else thinks they have a firm grasp on the truth about something. Building tension can be lessened if you’re willing to open a line of communication before it gets worse.

An invisible clock is ticking. You are painfully aware of this and an imminent deadline. You appear anxious to see a real and tangible result where you have invested much time, energy and resources. You could be forgiven for thinking your efforts have been in vain or that others have benefited in ways you’ve yet to benefit from. The key to getting the response you want lies with willingness on your part to ask for help. It really is available to you, so ask for it.

Slam! That’s the unmistakable sound of a door closing. Slam! There’s another one. It appears that, no matter how much effort you give toward pursuing something or polite, courteous and helpful you’re willing to be, you encounter resistance and obstacles in the form of people who don’t share your concern. You’re having to deal with systems, protocols and a need to ‘wait your turn’ in some way. Trust that this frustrating process won’t last much longer.

Communication is the clear path to understanding!

Most disputes and arguments can be sorted swiftly if people would show willingness to be open and honest with each other. Sometimes though, it is best to say nothing. Sometimes, it helps to stand back and let a process unfold further on its own before deciding to intervene. You would be wise now to say nothing and keep a card or two close to your chest, just for the time being, where an important discussion is concerned!

Have you grown a bit too comfortable with someone’s preparedness to sort something for you? What a certain person may have taken under their wing originally as a favor could be a bone of contention on their part now and, although nothing may be said, there is probably plenty they are thinking. Try to identify something someone else is doing on your behalf that you could be doing yourself. If you can, then you will avoid an unnecessary and potentially tense discussion later.

When emerging into daylight from darkness, it takes time to adjust to the change. We need a moment or two to determine our surroundings. You’re in a similar situation now, particularly regarding something that has shown no signs of movement of late and now appears to be moving forward. It’s natural you should be cautious but don’t apply too much caution. You can’t afford to stand still for too long. Moving slowly is better than not moving at all.

Right now keep everything to yourself…shhh!

Sounds Drastic, But Cut the Plastic

W

e drop the vegetables in one bag, and the detergent in the other. We do not hesitate to take an extra bag ‘for support’; just in case a bag gives way. We marvel at the colorful bag given at the cloth showroom and decide to take another one. And, at super markets, all our purchases are dutifully put in bags and handed over to us. Ever wondered, what is it that makes plastic bags so ‘useful’? Plastic bags are cheap to produce, durable, water-resistant, and come in a variety of sizes to suit our needs. They are versatile. Most of us use them because they are handy. So, why would anyone ever have a problem with it right? Wrong! Plastic bags are made from polyethylene. Ethylene is derived from petroleum and natural gas. Plastic bags are one of the many products refined from crude oil. Scientists estimate that we will see an increasingly limited supply of crude oil within the next few decades. The more we use plastic bags, the more we are wasting a non-renewable energy source – oil. Plastic bags are also non-biodegradable and take eons to breakdown, making them omnipresent. Some plastic bags can be recycled. However, the process of recycling involves shredding and melting them; producing carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrous oxides and other toxic gases. We would not want to see toxic cemeteries on top of all our environmental woes. Neither is this an economically viable option. So, while recycling has its place, it cannot provide the sole answer to the threat of using plastic bags. Today, there is a universal consensus to limit the use of plastic bags due to the detrimental effects it has on our environment. Plastic bags tend to clog up our streets, gutters, and harm marine life. Lack of civic sense and responsibility among us results in plastic bags causing imbalance in the ecosystem. While it is incorrect to blame plastic for all the harmful effects on the environment, one cannot turn a blind eye to the harmful effects caused by it. Hence, decreasing their usage becomes imperative.

The dramatic increase in plastic bag usage has prompted states such as Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and West `Bengal to impose bans on certain types of plastic bags. We too can make a difference by making a responsible choice. Remember, we are not trying to achieve zero tolerance to plastic bags. Most of the items on store shelves are packaged in plastic. While we cannot completely eliminate the use of plastic bags, we can surely reduce their use significantly. Here’s what you can do. Keep a couple of reusable bags (example: cloth bags) handy, so that you can use them when you go shopping. It may be difficult to remember to have one always, but over a period of time, it will become a habit. Reuse the plastic bags already at home. Take them to the grocery store, the next time you go. That way you can politely refuse the new plastic bags given by the vendors. And by doing so, you would have contributed to a ‘clean and green’ environment.

- Adarsh Rao The Viewspaper

Let us meet Mr. Bal Krishna Pandey at his home. Like many new age dads, he is bullied by his environmentally conscious teenage daughter to save water, conserve electricity, avoid wastage of paper and recycle waste. Since the day he was ambushed by his daughter for leaving the tap running, he has made it a point to follow the green rules. But as soon as he enters the confines of his office building, Mr. BKP becomes a different man. The green becomes the mean. Without him realizing this, he turns into a triplicate-printing, paper-cup-squashing, runs-hiscomputers-all-night-so-the-bossthinks-he’s-working earth befouler. But in this crime, everyone stands guilty. For all the “Save the planet” activities we preach and engage in daily, the moment we step into our offices, our “Care for the environment” drive gets reformatted. It’s not so difficult to look for the probable causes. “Its freeeeeeee”, “The Company pays for it” and “If they don’t care, why should I?” Let’s look at some facts. An office worker can use a quarter ton of materials in one year–which includes thousands pieces of copier paper. The common office buildings are ordinary glass-fronted structures, which let in heat and consequently use up more energy in cooling its interiors. Cooling, heating and powering office space are responsible not only for high amounts of carbon emissions but also for gobbling up electricity usage. Office commuters spew tons of CO2 every year. Office computers burn money worth lakhs of rupees on electricity annually and that’s when they’re not producing even, a byte of work. But in today’s Al Gore inhabited environmentally conscious world, more and more companies are making a green attempt to reverse the process of wastage. The concept of environment-friendly buildings– commonly known as green buildings

is quickly catching up in India. This movement has been around since the 1970’s globally, but it’s only now that the Indian corporate world have woken up to it in the past couple of years. So what exactly is a green workplace anyways? A green building essentially uses better design and construction material to minimize the consumption of power and water within the building. Such buildings are eco-friendly and energy-efficient. Now do not go around trying to spot green colored buildings because on the outside they look just like their normal cousins. They just: Have systems for automatic shut-off for lighting. Have systems for setting computers to power down automatically after few minutes of idle time (which cuts the machine’s energy use by 70%). Have installed solar systems. Use less air conditioning during summers. Have a system for recycling water. Use sunlight instead of artificial lights for illumination. Use central air conditioning instead of the split or window air conditioners. Apart from its physical footprint, a company has the best opportunity to have an environmental

impact through green policies that change the attitudes and behaviors of its workers. Take commuting for example. It presents employers with a major incentive: Congestion created by people getting to and from work results in lost productivity in terms of wasted time and fuel. Constructing new buildings within walking distances from bus stops and metro stations thus encourages use of public transport by the employees. All this increases the construction and system installation costs by about 4-% to 10 % but the energy saved over the years more than not compensates for the initial investment. The company benefits in many ways by turning green. It gives them a chance to earn carbon credits. Surplus credits (collected by overshooting the emission reduction target) can be sold in the global market. One credit is equivalent to one ton of carbon dioxide emission reduced. As green buildings use less power and water, the cost of running the building is less. It helps them develop a “friend-ofthe-environment” image which helps them get an edge in the competition for talent. Generation X has grown up in an environmentally conscious world and very few of them want to work for a big fat polluter. The first green building in India was the CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre in Hyderabad. Kolkata’s Technopolis lays claim to be the country’s first green building for Information Technology. An increase from 6,000 sq. m of green space in the year 2003 to 304,800 sq. m at the end of 2008(according to the Indian Green Building Council, which is promoting the green building movement in India), reaffirms the fact that Green offices are steadily increasing their footprint in India Let us hope that this trend is here to stay. And that Mr. Bal Krishna Pandey would continue to make his daughter proud-at home and in office. - Sonal Bhadoria The Viewspaper

“Sitara” by Manjaree Sitara by Manjaree is a testament to passion, hard work and the love of all things beautiful.

S

tarting in a small studio, where all garments were cut and hand sewn by the designer herself, in a space of three years the brand has grown and is being endorsed by buyers and celebrities alike. Sitara does at least three collections a year. Extreme attention is given to details. Cut and fit are foremost, as are the innovations in surface technique, pattern and drapery. Sitara stands for personal style and elegance and at the same time there’s a quirky and fantastical element to everything they do. When asked about her source of inspiration Manjaree replied saying “My inspirations are many and varied, depending on my moods. I find inspiration in nearly everything. Much like myself, my designs are a bag of contradictions. Sometimes I’m inspired by fluid sweeping movement and sometimes by constricting rigid form. Each design is very well thought out with a lot of attention to detail. The form and fit of the garment are extremely important, as is the relationship between the garment and the wearer. My designs are emotional and passionate and there’s a lot I borrow from our rich arts and crafts tradition. Strong women always inspire me and will continue to do so."

Her latest collection is about exploring contrasting elements: Fragility and strength, fluidity and severity, Black and White. The overall look is very classy, elegant and dramatic and currently she is obsessed with the Lumiere brothers. Manjaree thinks that Indian fashion is growing in leaps and bounds but is not organized as yet. As per her, the journey to the top can sometimes be long and tiresome as there is nothing but your own notions of how the industry works to guide you. “You may be the most

talented designer but that doesn’t mean you also have a head for business. Design schools don’t prepare you for the business of fashion” said Manjaree. On being questioned about the most difficult aspect of running one’s own label she wittily replied saying “Being the masterji and the CEO all rolled

into one! What I mean is that one has to handle everything on one’s own”. Sitara retails at 12 stores across the country. They also retail through multi brand designer outlets in Melbourne, Australia, Dubai and Mauritius. Their clients include celebrities such as Sonam Kapoor,

Priyanka Chopra, Minissha Lamba, Kangana Ranaut etc and prominent personalities such as Queenie Singh and Nisha Jamvwal among others.

Regarding the target consumers she said “Any woman who wants to look and feel better than she does is my ideal client. Any woman who understands how magically the right outfit can play up your strengths and make you feel completely beautiful is my target customer”. As far as the prices are concerned the range starts at Rs.7, 000 and goes up to about Rs.25,000 for prêt-a-porter.

Visionary Manjaree thinks draped dresses would be strong for 2012, although a relaxed elegance rather than the hyper draping of 2011 will be seen. As for her own designs, “I think Watermelon and sorbet pink will be huge in my collection for spring 2012.”

FENG SHUI & VAASTU

To welcome happiness & prosperity in the house we need to take care of the main entrance area , as it is the ‘face’ of the house, and the front door is the ‘mouth’ through which your house breathes in nature’s auspicious and inauspicious energies. The orientation of the door should be auspicious, and nothing should be allowed to harm the main door and secondly the solid front door can make a huge difference to your life, everything will be much stronger and more stable. If you arrange your house according to the principles of Feng Shui & Vaastu, one will be embraced by an aura of success that will also bring huge prosperity and happiness. Being surrounded by an air of achievement produces a strong aura of confidence that in turns creates a positive attitude. This brings in more success. Some basic rules to be observed with respect to your main door to improve the Health, Wealth and Prosperity Luck and enhance your opportunities in life.

GET PROSPERITY IN YOUR HOUSE

Suggestions: A single front door is better if it faces north or east, with steps leading up to it. However the main door should not be placed in the centre of a wall. Ideally, it should be placed towards the north – east corner. If the front door faces south or west, it is better to have it at ground level. The front door should feel solid and be made of good quality material, preferably wood, not metal – metal creates a saturnine influence and may feel confined and weighed down by it. The door frame should be rectangular and any arch should be set above the door frame. Square doors should be avoided. No two doors to different houses or apartment should be directly opposite one another, the combination of cosmic energy may create uneasiness between the neighbors. Toran or bandhanwar if fixed on the main door is very effective as it invites good luck. Rangoli at the entrance using colored powder mixed with rock salt, is invitation to Goddess Lakshmi .

String of marigolds flowers and mango leaves tied to the frame of the main door represent nature’s abundance and attracts good luck. The main door that opens in a clockwise direction is more fortunate than one which opens anticlockwise. If , upon opening the front door, you see out the back door or back windows, the Ch’i instead of flowing calming throughout the entire space of your house, shoots out like an arrow through the back door or window. The main door should not open directly facing a toilet. If it does, then any good fortune entering your home will get flushed away. The best way to handle it is to keep the toilet closed at all times. If the toilet door is not face to face with the main door, you may fix a mirror on the toilet door. This symbolically makes the toilet disappear. The direction of the main door in the house brings in untold wealth, depending upon where each door is placed. i.e. South – fame and prosperity, East – wealth and finance, West – children getting fame, North – good business, South east- wealth and finance, North east- educational success, North west – new venture and travel , South west – peace and happiness. Make sure that the main entrance creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for those coming in front of your house. Avoid these features in front of your main door – tree, well, temple, pole or pillar, garbage yard, graveyard, large wall, large building or large structures.

Ranji Trophy: Delhi take slender lead against MP

New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS) Delhi took a crucial two-run lead against Madhya Pradesh while Saurashtra were in complete control against formidable Mumbai on day two of the Ranji Trophy Elite Division matches on Wednesday. Delhi, who collapsed to 158 all out Tuesday, got Madhya Pradesh out for 156 at Emerald High School High Ground in Indore. The hosts, resuming at 86 for six, could last for only 12 overs on a bowling friendly wicket. Ashish Nehra and Parvinder Awana continued with their good form, taking three wickets each. Delhi was 62 for two in their second innings with Shikhar Dhawan batting on 26 and Puneet Bisht the last man dismissed on 25. Saurashtra declared their first innings at an imposing 580 for nine in a match played in Rajkot. Bhushan Chauhan became the second centurion of the innings after Chirag Pathak's 116 on the opening

day. Chauhan scored 157 off 366 balls on a day when the Mumbai bowlers had to toil hard. Zaheer Khan bowled 21 overs for his three wickets and conceded 82 runs. In reply, Mumbai were struggling at 19 for 2 with in-form Abhishek Nayar back in the hut for 6 runs. "Then of course, as we went to film it, right when I went to dip her, a huge piece of confetti went straight into my mouth. I didn't want to finish the kiss like that, so I spit and went for it.
