Delgado Community College Today • Delgado Community College has an enrollment of 16,715 as of Fall 2009. • Delgado is growing. Enrollment saw a yearover-year increase of 15.7% from Fall 2008.
Delgado Fulfilling Needs on the Northshore Delgado has been offering courses on the Northshore for more than 30 years and established the Slidell Learning Center in 1988 Delgado Covington initially offered 4 courses to 23 students at the Greater Covington Center in spring 2002. •
Today, Delgado Northshore occupies 6 buildings, offers more than 150 classes and serves more than 2,300 Northshore students – 3 locations in downtown Covington – Slidell Learning Center – 2 locations in Mandeville: Maritime, Fire, Radar and Industrial Training Facility (in partnership with Florida Marine Transporters); EMT/ Paramedic training facility (in partnership with Mandeville Fire District 4)
Delgado is Growing with St. Tammany Parish • Delgado Northshore enrollment reached an historic high of 2,315 in fall 2009 – Covington and Slidell locations’ enrollment outpaced all other Delgado sites, rising 30.5% over fall 2008 – Northshore enrollment has grown by double-digit percentages every semester since Katrina

Healthcare Partnerships • In 2006, Delgado partnered with St. Tammany Healthcare Alliance to create Careers That Heal allied health/nursing training program • In 2007, Careers That Heal expanded to 10-parish, multi-partner healthcare workforce development initiative – Funded by $6 million CDBG/ Louisiana Recovery Authority grant – As of June 30, 2009, 266 students have completed training and 251 are currently in training
Training St. Tammany Employees • Since 2000, Delgado has served Florida Marine Transporter’s training needs through the Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) • Received 5th grant for $1.3 million in October 2009 to purchase equipment for Mandeville facility, training 390 employees • IWTP has funded the purchase of state-of-the-art dual wheelhouse ship simulators at Mandeville facility

Impact is Significant The impact of all Delgado graduates contributes substantially to the economy— and that impact grows more significant with each successive year. Delgado students earned 1,063 training certificates and associate degrees in the 2007 – 2008 academic year, according to Institutional Research. 895 students earned awards in Technical Competency Areas in 2008, preparing them for work in a skilled trade.

Value of a Delgado Education The impact of a Delgado education for our graduates and the regional economy is significant. • 5 years of Delgado graduates fill an estimated 6,796 job openings in the New Orleans Metropolitan Area in 2009. • Delgado graduates earned an additional $86.2 million in wages in 2009. • Delgado graduates had an economic impact that generated an additional $81.1 million in wages for a cumulative benefit of $167.3 million in the broader metropolitan economy.

2,315 Northshore students in Fall 2009 – 51% full-time, 49% parttime – An increase of 58% over 5 years, despite disruption from Hurricane Katrina – 30% increase between 2008 and 2009 alone – 119 full time and part time faculty and staff are employed at Delgado’s Northshore location.

The economic impact of the Delgado system is generated by its spending throughout the metropolitan area. With record enrollment & student spending, the economic impact to the region & St. Tammany Parish will continue to increase.

Five years of Delgado graduates from all over the New Orleans region will fill an estimated 1,016 of the 75,117 (Q1 2009) jobs in St. Tammany Parish.
