BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND ALL THAT YOU ARE, KNOW THAT THERE IS SOMETHING

INSIDE YOU THAT IS GREATER THAN ANY OBSTACLE

Kevin W. Notis, II

(June 10, 1999 - August 19, 2023)

Kevin was born June 10, 1999 in Newark, NJ to the late Sharie Y. Walker and the late Kevin Notis, Sr., and graduated from KIPP Schools-Newark Collegiate Academy (NCA). Kevin was enrolled at Rider University at the time of his death and was employed as a paraprofessional at KIPP-Newark Lab High School, and was also an assistant basketball coach there. The students, players, and staff at Newark Lab High School loved and admired Kevin.

Kevin started playing basketball at a very young age, coming up as a skilled player with Coach JJ and the Next Level Basketball team. He was well known in Newark's basketball circles, playing in Central Ward's summer leagues and then going on to play for NCA as a guard wearing jersey No. 2. Kevin had always been an honor student in the KIPP Schools and was a math wiz, just like his mom. He maintained a core group of close friends since childhood and enjoyed discussing pop culture, sports, stocks and a host of other topics on the Sound Podcast, which he formed with his friend Kyerre. He had recently gained an interest in financial investing with stocks and was just starting to venture down that path. Kevin started his own basketball training camp, called Small Guard Big Guard (SGBG)

Kevin was naturally funny, even though at times you could barely hear what he was saying with the smooth and unique way he talked. Kevin also loved to travel and dance. He was as cool as a fan, always wearing his Versace shades; and was very fashion savvy, just like his parents. Kevin was loved deeply by his family, friends and those who knew him. I don't think there's one bad thing that anyone would say about Kevin; he was an all-around good and genuine guy. Nothing will ever be the same.

Kevin is predeceased in death by both his loving mother, Sharie Y. Walker, and father Kevin Notis Sr., his grandfather William H. Walker, and his uncle Mark A. Walker.

Kevin will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his grandmother, Isabel H. Wilson, sisters Takisha M. Walker-Jackson (Rahim), Porsche Walker, Saniyyah Notis-McAllister, and Danyell Lewis; his auntie Nadine R. Walker, aunt Shawn Notis, uncles Ronnie Walker, Byron Hargrove (Sura), Kenneth Hargrove, Ronald Notis, and James Notis, his nieces Fajr Beyah, Asr Fideen, and nephews Amin Fideen, Bryce Crawford, and Tyrone Townes, Jr. (DJ), cousins Ashley Hunter (Dominic), Tiffany Hannah, Olivia Hargrove, Alana Herran, Byron Hargrove, Jr., India Hargrove, Ma’isah Wise, and a number of other cousins; his special friend Nakyah Moore, his Day 1's Kyerre, Zahir, Ree Ree, Zo, Mazayah and a host of dear friends.

We love you, Kevin!

His mother’s love for him and for you. you were a part of his crew. and he made you smile. Those conversations that only lasted a little while. The joke that only you and he got, oh, and his 3-point shot. His random smiling. He was too cool to ever actually be wildin’ The way he handled loss, but stayed undefeated. His special and unique ways can never be repeated. That handsome look from head to toe. How proud he made his family, though. He made my sister’s life complete. how much he will be missed.

When this day is over and another comes a Please be sure to remember..my nephew

You were the center of our world, we are shattered that you are no longer here I want you to know how much joy you've brought us and everyone you were around. You were loved tremendously from the day you were born and we never imagined such a dreadful day would come. The memories we've had with you are wonderful, sometimes it brings us pain but gives us hope and keeps us strong. Until we meet again.

To those I love and those that love me, When I am gone, release me, let me go I have so many things to see and do. You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears Be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love, you can only guess How much you gave me in happiness I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it’s time I travel alone, So grieve for a while for me if you must Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only for a while that we must part So bless the memories within your heart I won’t be far away, for life goes on So if you need me, call and I will come,Though you can’t see me or touch me, I’ll be near And i f you listen with your heart you’ll hear,All my love around you so soft and clear, And then, when you must come this way aloneI’ll greet you with a smile and say,

Welcome Home.”

We thank everyone for their many acts of kindness during our time of bereavement. We are grateful for your love and concern in our time of great loss and sorrow. The Family of Kevin W. Notis, II
