Music and Band Camp

Camp Arnes offers an excellent facility for band or choir camp. Thirteen convenient sectional spaces, music equipment, and the opportunity to enjoy great activities between sessions make it a hit with students and directors alike!

Outdoor Education

It’s here where students learn skills like fire and shelter building, how to shoot a bow, and the value of working together. Fun and learning are so interwoven that students can’t tell where one begins and the other ends!

Fall at Camp Arnes is a great way to start out the school year. Your students will enjoy the beauty of changing leaves as they fly through the air on the Giant Swing, ride down the Zipline, and work together to finish the Initiatives Task Course.

Enjoy Manitoba’s winter wonderland with outdoor activities like snowshoeing, ice fishing, and cross-country skiing. Once all the fun is done for the day, spend some time in front of our cozy fireplaces warming up with a mug of hot chocolate!

Sunny days and crisp air are the perfect environment to wrap up the school year. Climb up on our High Ropes Course, try for a bullseye at Archery, or enjoy the peaceful sound of bird calls as you walk one of our nature paths.

What Schools are Saying:

“Great balance between educating students and allowing them to be active and have fun”

“They are activities we cannot re create in the classroom”

“Camp Arnes continues to be one of the most rewarding experiences I have with my kids!”

“Staff was great and enthusiastic. An amazing experience overall. ”

Fort Dauphin Museum

Fort Dauphin Museum was established in 1975. It is located in the west end of Dauphin near the Vermillion River. Complete with a pioneer home, trading post, blacksmith shop, trapper’s cabin, church, and oneroom schoolhouse, the museum contains a vast array of artifacts and is an ideal source of information about Manitoba’s past.

The Fort itself is a replica of a fur-trading post that was established in 1741. Fort Dauphin Museum is also the home of the Parkland Archaeological Laboratory, a facility that stores information on more than 1,000 archaeological sites in the Parkland Region.

Our goal is to communicate knowledge and to provide activities that allow the community and visitors to experience the past.

Nestled in the Turtle Mountains is a garden.

A celebration of peace, a living monument to the ideals of friendship and cooperation among nations. Acres of uninterrupted prairie, forests and radiant floral gardens are defined by nature, not borders. The newly expanded Conservatory, home to 6,000 unique and rare species of cacti and succulents from every corner of the world, will reopen in late 2023.

Planning a School Ski & Snowboard Trip has never been easier!

Here at Holiday, we strive to keep things as simple as possible for busy teachers.

• Pick a date, any date. We’ll find a place for you.

• Adults can Ski too! The Resort offers 1 complimentary supervisor lift & rental package for every 10 students. Additional adults are offered the student price.

• Need a bus? Let us help! Ask our Office Team, we’ll make the Bus Booking for you.

That’s it. Just show up and let us do the rest.

Upon Arrival your group will be greeted by a member of the Snow School and given a short safety briefing on the bus. You will then be taken to a designated area where you can store your belongings, eat, and gather.

Students are then led as a group into the rental shop. A short rental form is filled out with the student’s name, height & weight. Lift tickets are then applied to the student’s jackets, boots are fitted, skis & snowboards are set and helmets are sized. Members of our Snow School Team will be on hand to assist with all these steps.

Once ready to go, these budding young athletes are sent right to the Bunny Hill! Never – Evers go immediately into a lesson. Self-proclaimed “Pros” head up the Carpet Lift to show off their skills to our Nationally-Certified Instructors. Their Helmets will be marking accordingly and them it’s off to the big hills!

Beginner = Green Circle. Intermediate = Blue Square. Advanced = Black Diamond. Orange Pill = Expert, Terrain Park Features. These markings correspond with the run ratings. Students are required to stay on only the runs that they are rated for. This ensures that they do not attempt to navigate a run that is beyond their current ability level. Upgrade Lessons are available at 11:30, 1:00 & 2:00 daily.

At the end of the day, we simply ask that the Students drop off their equipment in the rental shop. That’s it, we’ll do the rest.

When the kids fall in love with our Favorite Sports – we’ve got them covered. Every student who visits on a school trip is eligible for a Season Pass for only $20! That’s unlimited Skiing & Snowboarding for the rest of the winter.

Holiday Mountain is fully compliant with all the guidelines and recommendations set out by the Manitoba School boards in their Planning Ski and Snowboard Education Programs Guide.

Students get hands-on learning at the Farm and Food Discovery Centre

Located 15 minutes south of Winnipeg on Highway 75, the Bruce D. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre offers an interactive and educational environment to explore modern farming and food production.

From the moment students walk through the doors, they’ll be greeted by sights and sounds of agriculture all around them. Colourful exhibits take them through a farmer’s field, from planting to harvest, allowing them to learn about the many factors that influence crop production, from soil to climate.

Students can explore livestock production practices through the viewing windows into the hog, dairy and egg layer barns. In the dairy facility featuring robotic milkers, students learn about milk production and follow the steps milk takes to get to the store. In our new egg layer barn, they will see

how egg farmers care for their hens and watch how the eggs are packed before heading to market. Food processing, food safety, and human nutrition are highlighted in the demonstration kitchen where students prepare foods to bring the food production journey full circle.

Educators can select from 10 curriculum-focused programs, including the popular Farm to Fork, Life in a Handful of Soil, and Discovering Dairy. Our newest program, Nutrition Necessities, lets students make their own lunch from foods we farm, while learning about the importance of nutrients on our health. All activities connect curricular themes found in social studies, science, geography, health, and nutrition to the food we eat.

Open Tuesday-Saturday - 10:00 am – 4:00 pm — (February to mid-December)

Contact 204-883-2524 or visit www.ffdc.ca for admission costs and more information.

Come explore the Farm and Food Discovery Centre!

Where does our food come from? How do we take care of the environment and the animals? What is the connection between nutrition and health? Through our curriculumbased, hands- on workshops, your students will explore the science behind how food is made, learn about sustainable agricultural practices, and turn locally produced, nutritious ingredients into tasty treats in the kitchen.

DESTINATIONS

Bringing Curriculum to Life

Educating middle school students can be a challenge. But what if you can bring the curriculum to life? Springfield Middle School teacher Samantha Luczenczyn-Lane did just that when she booked the Folklorama at School program.

“I wanted to offer my students something that was more hands-on,” said Luczenczyn-Lane. “Experiencing cultures is a part of the grade seven curriculum, and having artists perform, and talk about their heritage hits a lot of the curriculum points.”

During their experience, Luczenczyn-Lane’s grade seven students were introduced to two distinct cultures through The McConnell Irish Dancers and Mittal Joshi, an Indian classical dancer. Both groups teamed up to help students gain insight into different cultural communities and traditions.

“When reading my students’ reflections after our Folklorama at School experience, I was really able to see what students personally took away from it,” said Luczenczyn-Lane. “ We’ve read a lot of stories and watched videos, but this experience was so much more personal and was able to connect with students in a different way.”

Folklorama at School is designed to help students appreciate and respect cultural differences and motivate students to take pride in their own cultural heritage, all while meeting with the Manitoba curriculum.

“They really pay attention when it’s right there in front of them and they get a chance to participate,” said Luczenczyn-Lane. “ I would recommend Folklorama at School to any educator looking to get real experience for students. The process to book was easy and I really saw my students become engaged.”

Book your experience today by contacting Folklorama at bookings@folklorama.ca.

21st century Joséphine-Marie, through a grandmother’s story, is transported to 1870s Montana where she encounters an ancestor, the sharpshooter Josette. There she falls in love with the young Louis Riel, in disguise and on the run from assassins. The pair confront jealousy, destiny, deprivation, and torment but are comforted by ghost choruses of ancestors, the bison brigades, and the women of their peoples, as they try to salvage a nation and save themselves in the burning heart of the continent of the 1870s.

Li Keur: Riel’s Heart of the North is the world premiere of the first Indigenous-led opera to appear on a Canadian main stage

Confident, strong, beautiful – Carmen steals the heart of almost every man she meets, but what she values most is the freedom to live life on her own terms.

The smitten young soldier Don José lets his desire for Carmen spiral into obsession. Their destinies are intertwined in George Bizet’s timeless tragedy, renowned as one of the greatest stories that opera has ever told. One of the world’s most popular operas!

WISE Kid-Netic Energy offers hands-on, curriculum-based science, engineering and technology deliverables for youth K-12. We deliver workshops and host summer camps in locations across Manitoba, and offer extracurricular clubs and events year-round! We aim to inspire & empower youth in the sciences by providing access to quality resources and activities, enriching STEM education for all Manitoba youth.

WORKSHOPS

Our workshops are fun and hands-on STEM sessions designed to be brought right in to school classes or community centres. Each workshop links to the K-12 Manitoba science curriculum, and is delivered by a university student studying in a STEM or educationrelated field. When you book a workshop with us, we bring all the materials to your location (up to 1.5 hours from Winnipeg during the school year, and even further during the spring/summer). We have a catalogue of over 20 workshops to choose from, which is updated for each new school year!

Who: Classes grades K-12 | Where: Locations up to 1.5 hours from Winnipeg | When: Sept – June

CLUBS

Our clubs are for students interested in exploring specific STEM topics and sharing their interests with other kids outside of their school classrooms! Clubs meet on a weekly basis throughout the school year. Our clubs include a Girls** Club that meets on the University of Manitoba campus on Saturdays, an Inner-City STEM Club that meets after school, a Dissection Program that meets after school, and a Robot Fight Club that meets on the University of Manitoba campus.

CAMPS

Our week-long summer day camps are full of messy and interactive STEM activities. Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum:

A Pillar of Francophone and Métis Heritage in Manitoba

Along the beautiful streets of historic St. Boniface, stands the “little white house” along the Red River, at 494 Taché Avenue. Come visit Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum, housed within the original Grey Nuns’ convent, which has stood the test of time to become the oldest building in the city of Winnipeg.

Here, you’ll discover magnificent architecture, artfully curated exhibits, and a charming gift shop. The Museum aims to provide visitor experiences that encourage greater awareness, appreciation and understanding of the French-Canadian and Métis cultures in Manitoba. The Museum’s exhibits explore topics relating to Métis and Indigenous Peoples, early French-Canadian settlers of Manitoba, the fur trade, the Métis bison hunt, Louis Riel, the province of Manitoba, and the Grey Nuns. Led by our welcoming and engaging interpreters, our family-friendly and school programs for all ages allow visitors to engage, interact, and connect with Manitoba’s rich history. For example, relive the stories and experiences of Métis families through hands-on programs such as Uprooted Nation and The Métis Bison Hunt. In the gift shop, you’ll find educational materials to help support course curriculums, as well as a little something for everyone from our wide selection of local, handcrafted, and Indigenous-made gifts.

Make Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum your next destination, and take part in one of our many experiences, whether it be a museum tour, our neighbourhood walking tours, or an interactive program.

Discover magnificent architecture, artfully curated exhibits, and a charming gift shop.

48 MANITOBA SCHOOL DESTINATIONS

We offer 16, 36, 40, and 54/56-passenger luxury motorcoaches, driven by professional and courteous drivers. Our motorcoaches come equipped with reclining seats, USB/110 volt outlets, CD/DVD, interior overhead compartments, large under-bus luggage compartments, and washrooms. We pride ourselves in providing safe, luxury group transportation to all points in Canada and the USA at a competitive price. We are large enough to handle your needs, as well as small enough to provide the “personal touch.” Whether you have to get your group across the country or across town, we’re at your service.

Fehr-Way Educational Tours is proud to have earned the reputation of being the industry leader, specializing exclusively in Student Group Travel. We take great care in each of our student tours. Our experience has shown that every successful student tour must be educational, economically priced, and exciting!

Educational travel is an important aspect of learning as schools prepare students to compete in a more complex world. Travel brings curriculum alive for many students who learn best when experiencing concepts their teachers present, and can motivate students to apply themselves in the classroom. Additionally, travel teaches young people communication skills which will help them succeed as adults in a global society.

We would be happy to help you discover the tour that perfectly fits you. Call Dave Robinson at (204) 981-6828.
