Hockey Coach Bruce Shatel Earns His 400th Win
On Monday night, February 12, 2018, Hockey Head Coach Bruce Shatelβs Green Wave team defeated Pope John 4-1 in the Gordon Cup quarterfinals. The triumph was the 400th career victory for Shatel, who is in his 17th season as head coach for the Green Wave. Under his leadership, his team ultimately brought home the NJSIAA Non-Public A state title to cap another outstanding season for the Green Wave. Green Wave Hockey (23-6-1), coached by Bruce Shatel β who earned his 400th career win this season β continued the programβs illustrious tradition of excellence with a No. 1 finish in the statewide Top 20 rankings, NJ.com Hockey Team of the Year honors and its third consecutive state championship. Delbarton began its postseason run by defeating Don Bosco 2-1 in overtime to win its eighth Gordon Cup title. After defeating archrival CBA for the third time this season in the state semifinals, the Green Wave took to the ice at the Prudential Center for a showdown with Don Bosco in the NonPublic Championship. Two third-period goals secured the victory for the Green Wave, which defeated Don Bosco 4-2. Leading this team this season were goalie Kenny Burgess β18, who posted a .934 save percentage with seven shutouts, and team captain Nick Siffringer β18, who tallied 19 goals and 14 assists for 33 points. With its 13th NJSIAA state title in hand, the Delbarton Hockey program continues to build on its impressive legacy. Congratulations to the team and coaches
