and the wind. We use them for shelter and even the smallest piece of fabric may spark our imagination and become an unforgettable sight when brought to life by light and wind. Released from the context of interiors, fabrics surprise us and awaken our creativity. We build, cover, decorate – just like little children. The same pieces of fabric may become different objects every time we use them. Wouldn’t it be great to preserve this energy? DEKOMA’s collection of summer fabrics neatly captured by photographer Boris Miller at the beaches of Long Beach NY and in the streets of New York is an attempt to reproduce this creative atmosphere, encouraging the search for new combinations of fabrics and their new applications. Fabrics are an inexhaustible mine of stylistic, scenography and design-related possibilities. The context in which they appear decides about their role and impact on our senses. Contrary to popular belief, even something as mundane as laundry at the seaside may be a source of inspiration. You just have to use your imagination and reach for new, very simple means. Faded linen, printed or melange cotton, blends with viscose – all of them share some common features: their quality is high, they can be put to almost universal use and they retain their properties irrespective of the circumstances. You can play and experiment with them as much as you like.
