The Georgia Center for the Book is the state affiliate of the Center for the Book at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. The Center was chartered in early 1998 with the DeKalb County Public Library serving as its host and sponsor. The Center’s mission is the support of libraries, literary programs, and literature, particularly Georgia’s rich literary heritage.

Howard Fishman: To Anyone Who Ever Asks: The Life, Music, and Mystery of Connie Converse

The Georgia Center for the Book is pleased to welcome author and producer Howard Fishman. Fishman is the current recipient of the Carson McCullers Center’s Marguerite and Lamar Smith Fellowship for Writers. Fishman’s latest work, To Anyone Who Ever Asks: The Life, Music, and Mystery of Connie Converse, examines the life and the bizarre legend about Connie Converse that had become the prevailing narrative of her life: that in 1974, at the age of fifty, she simply drove off one day and was never heard from again.
