FOUNDATION OF DE HEUS De Heus was founded 1911 in Barneveld, The Netherlands. Until 1987, we flourished by autonomous growth. In the 1990s, the Dutch market was consolidating. We grew autonomously as well as by acquisitions to one of the leading feed companies in The Netherlands. FIRST INTERNATIONAL STEPS In 1998, De Heus took its first international steps by acquiring Koudijs, a company specialized in the export of nutritional products. With Koudijs, De Heus acquired international knowledge and experience that enabled further international development and growth. That same year, De Heus acquired a small factory in the Polish town of Łęczyca. This acquisition enabled De Heus to combine its nutritional and technical knowledge with the in-depth knowledge of local management and specialists. FURTHER INTERNATIONALGROWTH Based on the model of building local organisations, De Heus became active in many other countries over the years, for example in the Czech Republic (2006), South Africa (2007), Vietnam (2008) and Brazil (2012). Besides building own organisations in those countries, De Heus also established joint ventures in Egypt (2003), China (2005), Ethiopia (2009) and Russia (2009). Moreover, De Heus kept on exporting nutritional products to their customers worldwide through their export department Koudijs. ROYAL DE HEUS In 2011, the designation ‘Royal’ was awarded to De Heus by the Dutch Royal family. From this point on, De Heus was allowed to use the word Royal in its name and incorporate the Royal Crown into its logo.
