olitical history is being made in Harris County as a record 19 Black women are running for judge in the upcoming Nov. 6 election. It also marks the first time in history that 19 Black women are running for judicial seats in one county, which happens to be the third largest county in the United States. “These are 19 qualified and intelligent African-American women running for various judicial seats in this November’s election,” said Odus Evbagharu with the Harris County Democratic Party. “To celebrate this historical moment and to bring awareness to the candidates, the party created the Black Girl Magic Texas campaign. It’s imperative for our community to vote.”Evbagharu says the party is 110 percent behind these candidates. “We understand that it’s the year of the woman, especially women of color,” he added. “Women of color have been the base of the party for generations now.
