“Spent my working life previously mainly in finearts paint manufacturing & exporting, before a fairly radical career change to QS in 2015 I’ve since enjoyed working in a variety of construction environments, from roadmarking to facilities maintenance, to volume housebuilding.

My most recent experience has been gained with Creagh Concrete as Scottish surveyor for approximately 40+ ongoing subcontract projects, and Avant Homes where I was project surveyor for 200 units across two developments in Dundee and Penicuik.

I am excited to be joining Deeside at Throsk, and look forward to getting to know my new colleagues, and learning more about the business & ST industry, and contributing positively to our commercial team.

My hobbies are pottery, travel, and renovation.“

OUR FUNDRAISING

Harry Tremain, Steven Murray, Alan Kammer, David Crawford, and Derek Wann are to go for a 10k run in Banchory on the 27th of August at 11am. The 10k is part of the Run Banchory 2023 event. Deeside Dream Team, good luck!

The team are attempting to raise £1000.00 for the Mates in Mind charity. This target is combined with other Bancon staff participating. We would love DTL folk to show as much support as possible to our dream team.

Please do leave a note on the page to inspire them!

Be a mate and donate. Every penny counts and if you can, come along on the day as your support would be most welcome.

DTL invited suppliers and customers to take part in a round of golf at Trump Aberdeen golf course in aid of the Archie Foundation. Unfortunately, we didn’t win, but the charity managed to raise a considerable amount of donations on the day.

Remember if you have any charitable ideas as an individual or group, DTL may possibly look at matching your sponsored donations.

Get in touch with David Crawford with your charitable ambitions.

As part of our holistic approach to tackling mental ill-health and stigma within the construction, transport and related industries, they have begun rolling out a new text support service to reach individuals who may be struggling.

They’re proud to partner with Shout to offer a free and confidential mental health support service to anyone in distress.

To use the service, simply text “BeAMate” to 85258 and trained volunteers can help with issues including anxiety, stress, loneliness or depression and are available 24/7.

While Mates in Mind will always emphasise a preventative approach for organisations, we hope that this measure will allow people to seek much-needed support if they are at the point of crisis.

Kirsten has successfully transitioned into the Financial Director role at Deeside.

In addition to running the accounts department and reporting on the financial position of Deeside, she concurrently works to streamline the processes within and surrounding the department. This is by looking for efficiencies with the current procedures and looking at compatible software that could reduce administration time and reduce any potential errors.

We look forward to seeing the business ready to handle the potential increase in sales as we move into the UK market.

NEW HORIZONS

Yes, the wee lad in the photo is John the fringe is long gone!

John commenced with DTL on the 15th May and has already made an impact on the business, meeting up with customers old and new in the Northwest of England. Expansion to the business is critical on success in the English market, currently the method of timberframe construction is only 20% in England (in comparison in Scotland its 90%), providing us with an ideal opportunity to convert and capture new business in this area

”I worked within the construction industry for over 25 years spending the last 15 years specialising in Timberframe During this time, I have covered the whole of the UK helping National House Builders, Main Contractors and Regional Developers on their timberframe journey.

Timberframe still excites me as much today as it did when I first started in the industry, no two projects or two days are ever the same, we are forever learning and passing this knowledge onto our clients

For many years I have competed against Deeside Timberframe Limited, I always respected their professional approach and quality of product. It is an absolute privilege to be a part of Deeside Timberframe as we continue to grow Away from being obsessed with Timber Frame, at least one day every weekend you will find me fishing a match somewhere in the North -West of England “

LOCAL BUSINESS

Small-business owners love what they do, and they play an important role in supporting their local communities. From providing a hometown feel for localities to working hard to know their neighbors, these small companies do a lot to help others who live nearby in many different ways

When it comes to showing your support for small businesses, its important to do so, and not just to help them gain revenue and stay operational

Everything from the local clothing boutique to the corner cupcake bakery relies on the support of loyal customers to keep its doors open, and when you spend money at a small business, you’ll gain plenty of wonderful benefits as well
