07/ U-Value of 0.3 W/m²K is further enhanced with The addition of both PV panels and a green roof brings down the UValue further down and eliminates the major heat gain of the envelope which is the roof.

We created a special parabolic light shelf to reflect sunlight on to the ceiling to give an evenly daylit space. This design has been inspired from movie making Reflector system.

• Meerut experiences a composite climate, with temperatures of 8 to 45 degrees Celsius. Thus, we created a strategically planned cooling system to dissipate heat and maintain a consistently comfortable average temperature.

Interior of the auditorium Multiple courtyards were created to facilitate recreational activities throughout the hours of the day and to connect the nexus of the multiple buildings, to impart an organic and intuitive flow of spaces.

Within the campus, there is an Auditorium designed to serve multiple functions. Inspired by deconstructivism, it accommodates 800 people and seamlessly blends the orthogonality of the academic block with diagonals that traverse the site, connecting the rhythmic courtyards. As such, it serves as a vertical embodiment of the design principles applied to the overall layout of the buildings on the site. The combination of concrete and glass in the auditorium imparts a sense of monumentality, establishing it as a significant educational landmark for the city.

Intended to serve as the secondary terminal for Indore city’s airport, this building sits adjacent to the current airport on the same site and is linked to the superhighway and metro station underpass.

The two-level terminal structure, with a peak-hour passenger capacity of 2000, is organized into three floors, each designated for specific functions. This layout is designed to ensure a streamlined, transparent, and intuitive flow for efficient operation.

Design elements

Primary structural element with a depth of 1.8M allows a large span of over 25M, efficiently transferring load all the way to the ground, ensuring rigidity and stability.

The branched columns ensure the best utilisation of space, adding more support points for horizontal load bearing. This reduces the overall material requirement and weight of construction.

The tourist home sits next to the Bhimakali Temple complex, in a small serene town of Himachal Pradesh, embodying a harmonious fusion of traditional charm and modern comfort.

The project aims to create a relaxing and peaceful space that complements the spiritual ambiance of the nearby temple, conceived as more than just a lodging facility; it is an architectural ode to the rich heritage and natural beauty of the region.

The design had been conceived in response to the extensive contours of the site. Consequently, three major segments were created, whrein the floor plan smoothly follows these contour lines, effectively preserving the existing natural context of the site.

The layout of the tourist home emphasizes over communal spaces designed to encourage interaction among guests. The central elevated garden serves as a gathering space, offering a serene atmosphere for relaxation and shared experiences.

The incorporation of gardens and outdoor seating areas complements the surrounding natural beauty, inviting visitors to explore the complex and unwind.

Timber structural system of the lodging units

The spatial planning entailed the separation of private and public zones. The eastern zone includes crucial public areas such as the main entrance, waiting hall, cafeterias, restaurant, and other communal spaces strategically placed along the main connecting roadway.

Conversely, the western zone functions as a more private domain, hosting guest rooms surrounded by an apple orchard to the north and mountain ranges to the south. A central gathering space serves as a dividing element between these two constructed masses.

Conceived as an integral component of Ahmedabad’s proposed Central Business District (CBD), Initiated by the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA), the project serves as their redeveloped office headquarters.

Designed as a mixed-use mid-rise tower, it seamlessly integrates retail, commercial, and residential functions, adhering to a maximum height limit of 100m.

Ahmedabad, renowned for its rich architectural heritage and a nucleus of modernist structures, inspires this project, drawing influence from luminaries such as Le Corbusier, BV Doshi, and Hasmukh Patel.

ANATOMY OF THE DESIGN Rising to 85m with 24 floors, the lower section features recessions, creating inviting niches that guide visitors to the grand entrance. The structure tapers inwards for optimal external visibility and strategically places service cores on the northern facade for riverfront views and southern facade for natural daylight.

The form maintains orthogonality but subdivides through diagonal arteries for panoramic views. A central office courtyard harnesses natural daylight, serving as a multi-level interactive buffer space, enhancing the overall office experience.

In designing this residence, the aim was to establish a contemporary, interactive haven that serves as a sanctuary offering solace to a multi generational family of 5, in the midst of the challenging times imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The site is located in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, within an existing residential township, designed to accommodate three generations of a family, this house comprises four levels, featuring four bedrooms, a double-height living room, a gym, a home theatre, and a study. The sectional layout incorporates varied heights, creating a dynamic interplay of volumes throughout the residence. The bedrooms maintain a uniform volume, while the open, integrated kitchen and dining area contribute to the overall spatial diversity.

The house is enveloped by an orthogonally designed facade

Deeper recesses on the garden-facing sides enhance the overall design, providing sheltered open areas for each room. This envelope serves the dual purpose of significantly reducing heat gain and offering a series of interconnected, sheltered spaces around the house.

The design began with the goal to create a landmark commemorating a cause, telling a story of human resilience, survival, and triumph. We introduced the concept of kintsugi, symbolizing optimism, the golden thread connecting fates, and the light after tragedy.

Kintsugi lead us to Japan, a land plagued by natural disasters throughout history. Thus emerged a museum that celebrates the strength and perseverence of the human spirit.

The design revolves around two psychological perspectives of trauma survivors: succumbing to despair or overcoming adversity with determination. Two paths in the museum represent these experiences through sensory engagement, utilizing auditory, visual, and olfactory elements. This design aims to convey the essence of these philosophies by playing with light and dark spaces, captivating color schemes, and incorporating sounds like clinking broken glass and ocean waves.

The smell of cherry blossom binds the entire experience together, creating a unique and impactful journey.

THE LABYRINTH OF GRIEF The place initially seems tempting and short at first, but it takes you through a perilous journey filled with constant cracks, the sound of broken glass, and an eerie atmosphere as you move on in an endless spiral. Occasional whiffs of cherry blossoms offer fleeting comfort, symbolizing hope just out of reach. The path mirrors the challenging journey of overcoming trauma.

HORIZON OF HOPES Another opening reveals a seemingly longer but straightforward path, symbolizing patience. Visitors following this route find themselves on a sky bridge with a golden handrail, offering a panoramic view through transparent walls. The experience emphasizes the power of nature as the ultimate equalizer, but rising above it brings a sense of tranquility, accompanied by the soothing sound of ocean waves.

At the end the visitors would reach the final central installation, leading them to the end of the circle of life.

This leads to hollow victories and heartbreaking tragedies. Thus, there arises a crucial need to remember and honor the sacrifices of these fallen bravehearts.

Bringing the youth together for education and reflection, fostering respect and drawing inspiration from the burning patriotism of Indian freedom fighters becomes imperative. So, the edifice aims serves the purpose of perpetuating the ever-blazing glory of Indian martyrs for future generations.

The voronoi shards sprout up from the ground, lifting up our spirits and bringing life to the 3 main aspects of the project, • With kaleidoscopic views of the vast, peaceful bright blue sky, this installation reflects the tranquility of these peaceful times.

• The unruly pathway of Voronoi veins signifies the agony of the souls buried beneath this holy land.

• The sharp geometry of the form resonates with the layout of its city of origin, Chandigarh, while the spontaneity of lines creates a visually versatile web.

• Interactive spaces attract the public, promoting viewing and fostering empathy with the existing war memorial’s architecture.
