The New Orleans School of Music and Art was inspired by the site conditions where the trees were a great part of the site. These new trees were chosen based on the Native plants of Louisiana.

The massing first started with all the programs in a simple diagram.
We started by putting a single roof over the programs to see what form we’d be working with.
To incorporate the higher classrooms, we started playing with the shape of the roof.
To make the whole building homogenous, we made the whole roof as such.
