For this project, the client wanted a timeless modern farmhouse kitchen. The design features an exposed brick backsplash behind the range, and a striking blue kitchen island, which adds a bold pop of color to the space.
These drawings showcase every detail that went into bringing this client’s vision to life.

The Three Rivers Engagement Center (TREC) is envisioned as a dual city-owned community facility that aims to increase access and engagement with the rivers that divide the cities of Columbia and West Columbia. TREC will feature three elements: two buildings - one in Columbia, the other in West Columbia - and a bridge for cyclists and pedestrians that serves to weave the facilities into the existing network of greenways and riverwalks, while connecting the two buildings to each other across the Congaree River. I collaborated with three other students on the production of this project.
The Congaree River is a defining and often destructive force defining our sites in Columbia and West Columbia. Because the fall line creates a craggy, unpassable river, Columbia built a canal in 1824 to facilitate access to the city for commerce and industry. In 2015, the city experienced a destructuve flooding even that breached the canal and flooded the Three Rivers Greenway that activates the riverfront on both sites.

Master Plan and Site Programming
We studied the flooding both sites experienced to ensure our design responds, reflects, and amplifies the force of this defining body of water by creating safe, calming, and family-friendly spaces adjacent to the Congaree River. Our library on the Columbia site floats above a terracing water plaza and pays homage to the segment of the canal that once traversed the site, whereas water erodes the building envelope of the West Columbia natatorium, where the building floats over an interior-exterior pool.
The West Columbia natatorium creates spaces for personal health and wellness with indoor gym areas, a fully functioning basketball facility, pool areas, and access to the riverfront kayaking facilities.
Our bridge and outdoor spaces create interactive, family and pet friendly zones where citizens of West Columbia and Columbia can come and hang out around the beautiful sites of the Congaree River.
There are cafe/bar spaces on both sites.
The Columbia Cultural Center creates spaces for children and adults alike to come and learn about the history of the Congree River and the sites that sit on either riverfront. Creating spaces such as a library, classrooms, meeting rooms, and cultural educational centers.

Green Gate

Green Gate is the project I worked on in collaboration with a Lanscape Architecture student while we were abroad in Barcelona, Spain during the Fall 2019 semester. Situated in Ciutadella Park, the project was to create a programatic design within Museo Martorell’s existing context to transparently unite the existing neighborhood with the nearby university campus. Since there is so much history behind Ciutadella Park and Museo Martorell is protected by the City of Barcelona, we wanted to keep the history of the existing building while also allowing for it to grow within its program.
Roof Plan
We decided to keep the existing building making only a few slight changes within the interior as well as the centural roof area. We designed a new greenhouse-like structure for the entrance proposal that encouraged ventilation and natural light to flow throughout the space, and removed the existing layout of the museum to accommodate for our proposed program of exhibition and academic spaces.

Based on axial relationships, the main entrance of Green Gate was conceived through spatial analysis in the city scale. In order to connect Ciutadella Park to Passieg de Picasso, the new entrance is repositioned to fit more directly with the existing streets and to provide greater views from either side of the building. The main concept of Green Gate came from creating a new park entrance in the form of a central garden that splits the existing building into two main programs. The two programs are connected by a bridge across the garden where each program of the building is unique; academic or exhibition spaces.
