KA LEIDO SCOPE

I have always wanted to stand out. All my life, I have been a creative - I draw, paint and photograph mind-blowing images. What to create and how to create things are the constant questions I ask myself. I always do things in the most unique ways so intentionality is key to how I create.
Each piece I create is an extension of my personal experiences and my journey through life
I love to see the world in colours - it is the foundation on which my art is built I utilise bright, vibrant colours to depict the magic I see in nature and my immediate environment.
I like to work on several projects concurrently and I do not limit myself to one medium, concept or style. Ideas change. Inspiration changes. Knowledge changes. I believe the further you explore, the better you are as an artist, so I like to pick up new ideas to create every time.
More recently, I have been searching for more ways to create pieces that can inspire the younger generation and charge them to create too I see art as more than just beautiful images It is a means to communicate and tell stories
My most recent body of work “RCVRY”, for instance, is my way of charging the younger generation to regain control of their self-esteem, innate abilities and culture, and to let the world see what they are capable of. I wish to be the voice of the new generation of creatives, an inspiration to many.
Every creative’s journey is coloured with different events and emotions that shape them Every incident encountered opens them to a new level, which in turn makes them who they are
In Kaleidoscope, I paint the complete story of creatives using colours - from finding themselves to becoming whole. It is an exciting work of art that merges many colours to visualize the creative's experience.
For this exhibition, I chose a spectrum of 9 colours and 1 multicolour, making 10 pieces (from red to purple). Each piece has a title with “K” as a constant, to show consistency through each period. Each piece also reflects specific phases I have lived through in my journey.
Blankness and blackness is how most things begin. The first colour a child is exposed to in the womb is blackness We are all believed to begin life as tabula rasas. While some might see this as bleak, we see endless possibilities. The opportunity to create and be formed without restraints, limitations or rules
This is how we open the exhibition, in the blackness and blankess of possibilities.
Right after this, we will bare our audience to their first glimpse of colour, an endless loop of gradients and colours brilliantly contorting and forming on a digital screen. Just as peace cannot be appreciated without chaos, we believe colours cannot be appreciated without blackness As our audience enjoys this first glance, we will also engage their senses of smell with the irresistable aromas of red, orange, mustard, yellow, green, teal, blue, cobalt, violet and indigo, dispelling the notion that colours are only to be experienced through sight At this point, we will begin to engage their hearing with a voice-over that poetically delves into the essence of the exhibition.
As we engage them in the darkness, a glimmer of light shines hesitantly at first, crescendoing into a brilliant and bold shimmer that spotlights each individual piece of the kaleidoscope, declaring the exhibition open. But the delight doesn’t end here. Each artwork comes with a hidden surprise. A treat for the ears in the form of a musical playlist of 3- 4 songs that opens a whole new world of experiencing the artwork beyond sight and touch.
Life is tapestry, each colour fading into the next, each experience birthing the next This is just as true of a creative’s journey to completeness Which is why each artwork bleeds into the next. None independent of the other, but rather a seamless transitioning of colours, stories and epiphanies
We are all creatives. All canvases of skin, painting a beautiful story with the lives we live This story is about you, much as it is about us We see you and applaud you on your journey to completeness… to finding yourself. And at this exhibition, you are the greatest work of art on display. Walking, talking, breathing.
But our completeness can only happen by embracing who we are And sometimes that means starting blank. Blanks sheets. Blank canvases. Blank pages A blankness that screams endless possibilities So come blank Come black and let your true colours shine brighter.
The KALEIDOSCOPE aims to start a movement and platform that inspires talented Millennials and Gen-Zers that love contemporary art

A creative’s journey begins with obsession. Obsession births practice Practice births perfection Dreams only become flesh when it is obsessively pursued and passionately honed.

The only way to keep going is to find joy in the process. Only then will the results come The thrill is in the details.

The ability to see possibilities where others see a dead end is what distinguishes a creative To see the unseeable, hear the unspeakable, and think the unthinkable. This elevates them above reality and confers on them the ability to change it.

The most important tool in the creative’s arsenal is the mind The ability to harness this tool over and over again is how a creative evolves. It’s how they get better with every act.

The creative might become unsure, uncertain and confused and that’s good for peace cannot be understood without chaos. At a point in the journey, it is important to take a step back and brood, till that which is ambiguous becomes clear. This is the refining.

Only when the creative becomes their own greatest competition are they truly secure Only then can they fix their eyes on the goal, undistracted by the sidelines. This begins with trust in oneself. And really, who else is more deserving of one’s trust than one’s self?

At this point in the journey, where new grounds are being gained, it is important to stay fixated on what truly matters. The heart of the art.

Structure doesn’t stifle, It prunes for growth. Only with constraints in place, can a creative scale the hurdle of the status quo and the average.
