Mayan Calendar date: 3 Iq’ Dear Relatives, First and foremost, I honor our Mother Earth and her stewards. I honor the ancestors of the Miwok, Maidu, and Nisenan for caring for the beautiful valley and rivers I call home. In this zine, The Decolonization Project community members examined the imposed standards of beauty that society imposes on us daily. This zine is a reflection of the conversation and the celebration of Black, Brown, and queerness.

The Decolonization Project is an is an indigenous­led arts and culture program to unlearn colonial mindsets and practices by relearning holistic and cosmological views of the self to lift, co­power, and create resilient communities. We hope you enjoy flipping through the pages of the zine and join us sometime as we all forge this unknown path of decolonization looking forward, backwards, to our sides, upwards, downwards, and most importantly: inward.
