Welcome to AANT Centre’s 2026
Creative Learning Program - a joyful invitation to spark imagination, nurture expression, and inspire young learners across the Top End.
This program is built on a simple yet powerful belief: live performance has the ability to open minds, stir hearts, and connect us all through story, movement, music, and theatre.

Whether you’re a teacher, educator, or family member, the program offers immersive, age-appropriate experiences that support and enrich young minds. See stories leap from the page in dynamic book-based performances, feel the heartbeat of Country in an interactive First Nations dance on The Playhouse stage, and experience the powerful youth-led storytelling of SLIDE Youth Dance Theatre. These performances ignite curiosity, build empathy, and foster meaningful connections in the classroom and beyond.
We look forward to welcoming you to AANT Centre, where creativity comes alive and young Territorians are empowered to imagine, connect, and grow.

Georgia Hendy CEO, AANT Centre
AANT Centre is for everyone. We aim to make our shows accessible for children with disability, sensory and learning needs.
Accessible performances support an atmosphere where each child can react naturally and implement their own strategies if they become overwhelmed. Audience members can bring their headphones to reduce noise and a designated “chill out space” is available.
Wheelchair spaces are available for all events and a Listen Assist Network is available for most events. Some events presented may be Auslan Interpreted, or Open Captioned upon timely request.
We encourage you to get in touch directly with us to discuss the options for your class.
The following resources are available for the listed shows:
Visual stories help familiarise audience members with the storyline, characters and venue before coming to the show. Room on the Broom
Relaxed performances are open to everyone, but the environment has been adapted so that individuals with disability, sensory and learning challenges, or anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed environment, can access live performance experiences without barriers.
The house lights are dimmed, patrons can easily exit the theatre, the atmosphere is non-judgemental, and noisy enthusiasm is embraced. Where is the Green Sheep 9.30am

A Monkey Baa Theatre Company and QPAC’s Out of the Box co-production
Based on the book by Mem Fox and Judy Horacek
Written for the stage and directed by Eva Di Cesare
An immersive visual theatre experience based on the beloved children’s book by Mem Fox and Judy Horacek. We meet Blue Sheep who loves blue flowers and Red Sheep who loves to cartwheel in the fields, Bath Sheep who loves bubbles and Bed Sheep who loves to bounce... But where IS that Green Sheep?
Blending puppetry and animation, this production invites young audiences to join three farmers on a quest to find the elusive Green Sheep. Co-created with students from Bankstown West Public School, it features their voices as narrators, ensuring the story resonates with young audiences.
A co-production with QPAC’s Out of the Box in association with Arts Centre Melbourne, The Sydney Opera House and The Art House, Wyong.

Garabari is a participatory dance gathering created with Elders and community leaders to share a creation story of water, land and the making of a river. The theatre becomes a shared dance floor where a pulsing techno beat blends with Wiradjuri song. Audiences are invited to join in through call and response and simple movement, gaining a direct sense of what a corroboree feels like today.
First Nations peoples have long used dance and story to pass on knowledge and bring people together. Garabari continues this practice for our time, showing how ancient stories and language stay alive and relevant.
Developed through long term collaboration with Elders and community, the work includes their songs, designs and stories in a gathering that is both rooted in tradition and alive in the present. Garabari invites everyone onto the dance floor to experience culture as a living connection between people and Country.

Ricochet [rik]+[uh]+[shay]
The words you say, they ricochet. They bounce, glance, rebound, skim and skip. They hurt, they heal, they eyeroll, they play… with your head and your heart.
The words you say directly affect the person you meant them for. We have a responsibility to be kind and good, to practice empathy and understand that everyone has a struggle.
How do we embrace resilience to bounce back in a world that throws us more than a few curveballs?
Ricochet is a dance theatre work that celebrates the insight and quiet strength of young people in 2026. It reminds us of the impact of our words and compels us to choose kindness above all else.
Through a seamless blend of choreography, lighting, sound, and storytelling, Ricochet creates a world that is powerful, playful, and profoundly celebrates harmony.
Funny, sad, and above all, brave.

Communities are made up of vulnerable, unique and beautifully flawed people. And that’s a good thing, because it would be boring if we were all the same.
Someone Else’s Story is a sharp, comedic exploration of society’s moral fabric, when an ordinary morning train ride quickly derails and the commuters - a band of misfits - find themselves in a very tricky position.
Collectively they must work together to solve a HUGE dilemma before they reach the end of the train line.
Caught in the crossfire of conflicting opinions, quiet crushes and prickly personalities, Heather is having a difficult day. But sometimes, difficult days are made better when you let good people in.
A reimagining of the 2019 hit, this production delivers hilarious storytelling, bold physicality, poignant characters and mandarin essence.
In Someone Else’s Story, you might see the vulnerable, unique and beautiful parts of yourself…

How the cat purred and how the witch grinned,
As they sat on their broomstick and flew through the wind…
The witch and her cat are flying happily on their broomstick – until a stormy wind blows away the witch’s hat, bow and wand.
A helpful dog, bird and frog find the witch’s lost things, and they all hop on the broom for a ride. But this broomstick’s not meant for five and – CRACK – the broom snaps in two!
When a hungry dragon appears, who will save the poor witch? And will there ever be room on the broom for everyone?
The award-winning team behind The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child return with songs, laughs and scary fun for children aged three and up - and their grown-ups.

In a quiet park in the middle of a busy little town much like Darwin, a single bench carries the secrets of the people who visit. Day after day, layer upon layer of their lives are shared with this garden park, where they feel safe and unseen.
But they are seen.
Today, something feels different in the park, the flowers seem a bit brighter, the breeze is comforting.
And then, there’s the envelopes. One for everyone, with their names beautifully hand written. What is inside and who has left them here?
The Letters is a dance theatre work created by youth, for youth, celebrating their connection to all people, regardless of age. It’s a reminder that life is precious and that sometimes the most unlikely people can add light to your life.
Funny and heartwarming, The Letters is a reflection of connection and respect between generations. A reminder to stay human in a world of disconnect.

Every young Territorian deserves the chance to be inspired and transformed by the arts.
In a country where one in six children live in poverty, AANT Centre alongside The Smith Family, are working together to remove the barriers that prevent young people from experiencing the life-changing impact of live performance.
Your support will help identify the students and schools most in need, and ensure that cost, distance or circumstance are never obstacles to participation.
By spreading the word, advocating for your students, and supporting this initiative, you can help shape young minds and foster a lifelong love of the arts. Together, we can make sure every child has a seat in our theatres and the chance to dream big.
Donations are now open and fully tax-deductible.
AANT Centre thanks Karma Mayfield and Geoff Nourse of Adept Business Accountants for their generous support.
