About the Lecture

Each year, the LSU Health Shreveport Department of Neurosurgery invites a renowned neurosurgeon to serve as keynote speaker for the event and a graduate of our residency program to serve as the Alumni Speaker. The speakers provide the local medical community the opportunity to gain new insight and increase knowledge in the field of neurosurgery. The Mary Louise and Ben Levy, Jr. Endowed Professorship in Neurosurgery was instituted by the Levy Family in 2004 as an enduring gift to the community.

Mr. and Mrs. Levy were active in several civic and charitable organizations throughout the Shreveport-Bossier community. The Levy Lecture is a pillar of our residency education program and an opportunity to honor our graduating residents.
