In post-modern-world Maine, Cliff spends the majority of his time living off the land and enjoying his own company. He catches fish from the abundant waters near his modest cabin, smoking and preserving trout and salmon to satisfy his hunger in between trips to the nearby village, where his smoked fish also earns him a living.But during his first visit to the village this year, the local healer calls upon Cliff to cure a child’s mysterious sleeping sickness. The healer asks Cliff to use his boundless connection to the land to find the three rare ingredients needed for a cure.Roads outside of Cedar Falls are unsafe, especially for someone traveling alone or without the special abilities some now have. An evil cult and violent thieves are looking for their next bounty, no matter the cost.Cliff also encounters mutations of plants and animals, making it hard to know what is docile or wild. This journey is as much about survival as it is having a knack for navigating unruly lands.Before long, Cliff learns he’s not on this mission to save one life, but to liberate many, while fighting for his own.
