Several delayed in receiving vaccination
DE AAR: Elderly citizens and those with co-morbidities in the Northern Cape were delayed in receiving their vaccines. A survey at the start of June showed that only 10% of the senior population in the province received their jabs. The province is now gearing up to vaccinate teachers and support staff, with 556 schools targeted in the rollout. Education MEC Zolile Monakali said vaccinating staff in the sector was vital “to make sure we get our teachers and schools ready, so we can get back to normal, especially our primary schools”. The Northern Cape province is experiencing
a shortage of funds, nurses, and specialized staff to operate ventilators, the DA claims. “The Northern Cape province doesn’t even have enough staff or funds to ensure that Covid19 testing is done seven days a week at all testing facilities. This was recently exposed at the De Aar clinic in town where testing is only being done on Mondays and Fridays.” Given that less than 1% of the country’s population has been vaccinated, DA leader John Steenhuisen said South Africa’s vaccine program had been a “disgraceful, unforgivable failure so far”.

NC province is ready for Educators and supporting staff NC: The Northern Cape Department of Education and Health has finalized plans for the vaccination of educators and support staff. In a media briefing on Tuesday last week, the MEC of Health, Maruping Lekwene, together with the HODs of the Departments of Education and Health, announced the province's readiness to distribute vaccines to vaccinate a total of 16 100 persons over the next 14 days. The roll-out commenced on Wednesday 23 June 2021 and will continue until Thursday 8 July 2021, a day prior to the closure of schools marking the end of the second term. Northern Cape MEC of Education, Zolile Monakali, says the registration will be done via the Elenic Vaccination Data System (EVDS) system of Health, based on the Personnel and Salary System (PERSAL)
information provided. All staff is required to take along their identity documents and medical aid information, where applicable. Monakali says there are 29 vaccination sites identified in the province. Monakali further adds that those eligible to get vaccinated are as follows: •All PERSAL Staff (as of April 2021) in DBE (educators, administrators, and support staff) at all public schools; irrespective of their age. •School Governing Body appointed teachers and those teachers employed by independent schools registered in terms of the South African Schools Act. DE AAR: The Hawks have appealed to the public to assist them to find six men suspected of abducting a Post Office Branch Manager in De Aar in the Northern Cape and stealing social grant cards worth R1 million. The suspects forced the Branch Manager to open the post office after hours and stole 500 social security agency cards. Provincial Hawks spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi says the suspects approached the Branch Manager at his residence. “It is alleged that in February 2020, six armed unknown suspects approached the Post Office Branch Manager at his residence and demanded office keys. Three of the suspects allegedly drove off with the Branch Manager to the Post Office whilst the other three suspects remained in the house and held the family hostage. The Branch Manager was instructed to open the Post Office and was forced to hand over 500 South African Social

Meanwhile, the DA says the closure of 130 Post Offices across the country could have serious consequences on social grant recipients. The Post Office has confirmed that it’s in the process of closing some of its offices across the country mainly due to financial challenges. CEO Nomkhitha Mona says the majority of the offices that are earmarked for closure have already been vacated. DA Shadow Social Development Minister Bridget Masango says the party will submit Parliamentary questions to the Departments of Social Development as well as Communications on what contingency plans have been put in place to ensure that the closures do not affect grant recipients.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on Monday said it had not yet made a decision on whether the local government elections would be free and fair. He said the inquiry was established after concerns about the elections were raised by political parties. “Concerns have been expressed by some parties that the elections this year may not be free and fair given the impact of COVID-19 as well as the measures government has undertaken to curb the spread of the pandemic.” As far as the fairness of the elections was concerned, Mamabolo said the jury was still out. “No such decision has been reached at this point on the side of the commission. We are eagerly awaiting the final report.”

As jy bang en verskrik, bekommerd en angstig, bevrees en onrustig is, is die rede dalk omdat jy twyfel aan die Here se beloftes van voorsiening en beskerming en hulp, omdat die geloof en hoop in jou hart opgeraak het of doodgedruk is deur jou vrees. Aan die ander kant: as daar twyfel in jou hart is en jy nie meer die Here kan raaksien in jou lewe nie, as jy nie glo dat Hy in beheer is en alles ten goede sal laat meewerk nie, gaan bekommernis en vrees jou gedagtes oorheers en jou angstigheid buite beheer raak. As Jesus vandag langs jou kom staan en vra: “waarom is jy so verskrik?”, dan mag en kan en moet jy al jou bekommernisse by Hom kom afpak. “Werp al julle bekommernisse op Hom, want Hy sorg vir julle.” (1 Pet. 5:7) As Jesus vandag langs jou kom staan en vra: “Waarom is jy so verskrik?”, hoor dan terselfdertyd sy oop uitnodiging wat sê: “Kom na My toe, almal wat uitgeput en oorlaai is en Ek sal julle rus gee.” (Matt. 11:28) As Jesus vandag langs jou kom staan en vra: “Waarom kom daar twyfel in jou hart?”, hoop ek jy sal die twyfel kan uitdoof en met geloof en vertroue sê: “Die Here is my helper, ek ken geen vrees nie.” (Heb. 13:6) ~ Wilna Botha

What is Epilepsy? Epilepsy is a chronic disorder, the hallmark of which is recurrent, unprovoked seizures. Many people with epilepsy have more than one type of seizure and may have other symptoms of neurological problems as well. Sometimes EEG testing, clinical history, family history and outlook are similar among a group of people with epilepsy. In these situations, their condition can be defined as a specific epilepsy syndrome. The human brain is the source of human epilepsy. Although the symptoms of a seizure may affect any
part of the body, the electrical events that produce the symptoms occur in the brain. The location of that event, how it spreads and how much of the brain is affected, and how long it lasts all have profound effects. These factors determine the character of a seizure and its impact on the individual. Having seizures and epilepsy also can also affect one's safety, relationships, work, driving and so much more. How epilepsy is perceived or how people are treated (stigma) often is a bigger problem than the seizures. A person is
diagnosed with epilepsy if they have one or more seizures that were not caused by some known and reversible medical condition like alcohol withdrawal or extremely low blood sugar. The seizures in epilepsy may be related to a brain injury or a family tendency, but often the cause is completely unknown. The word "epilepsy" does not indicate anything about the cause of the person's seizures or their severity. Chicken Normandy INGREDIENTS: 200g bacon bits 1 pack salt 1 pack pepper 1 onion, thinly sliced 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped 3 sprigs thyme 15ml flour 250ml cider 150ml chicken stock 150ml cream 4 golden delicious apples, sliced into wedges 15ml olive oil roasted potatoes steamed tender-stem broccoli
the fat has rendered and the bacon has a beautiful colour, remove it from the skillet. Don’t discard the fat. Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper. Turn the heat up to medium high and add the chicken skin-side down, browning it in the bacon fat. Remove from the skillet. Turn the skillet down to low and add the onions, garlic and thyme. Tannie is baie betrokke by die community en so ook by die gesin waar 'n pragtige jong adonis, 6 pack, bruin gebrande bene, bonsmara bul boude, grasgroen oë en spiere wat soos die Vrystaatse berge bult ook bly.
