64 Dubois County teens complete 4-H careers Each year the Dubois County 4-H Fair marks a time of happiness mixed with sadness for those graduating 4-H’ers who particiate in the fair for the last time. This year is no exception. The Dubois County 4-H program salutes these young men and women on the culmination of many years of work, service and participation. Be sure to look for a display honoring these special individuals during the fair. Lindsey Aders is a 10-year member of the Holy Family Young Hopefuls 4-H Club. In her 4-H career, her favorite projects included reedcraft and leathercraft. She is the daughter of Doug and Pam Aders. Alexandria Arthur is a 10year member of the Holy Family

Education activities planned Fun educational activities will be happening during the Dubois County 4-H Fair. The activities will be led by Melanie Roberts, the new Dubois County 4-H Fair queen and Purdue Extension summer intern. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Monday and Tuesday, July 16 and 17, in the Clover Pavilion on the 4-H Fairgrounds. Youth can attend one or both days. New activities related to art, science and other crafts will be offered each day. The cost is free for this event. In order to better prepare for each day’s activities, participants will to register in advance. Solid waste district plans giveaways The Dubois County Solid Waste District has a new location for this year’s fair — the Farm Bureau Building. The booth will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. The district has several special giveaways planned. Monday evening is Little Free Book Night. Free, used books

will be offered for the whole family. The district returns on Tuesday evening for Take Back the Tap Night, when county residents will be offered a free USAmade, dishwasher-safe reusable water bottle while supplies last. And on Wednesday evening residents will be able to get a red mini recycling bin. One bin will be handed out per household un-

til they run out. Thursday evening the district is Recycling Down on the Farm while taking part in Family Fun Night at the Clover Pavilion from 5 to 7 p.m. All fairgoers are invited to stop by the booths for free stickers, tattoos, recycled pens and popcorn throughout fair week.
