Schools must be core affiliated to access the enhanced affiliation

Our Enhanced Affiliation is designed to provide tailored programmes delivered in your school throughout the year. A member of DCCT staff will work alongside an existing teacher/teaching assistant for either half a day (12:30pm4:30pm) or full day per week (9:00am - 4:30pm).

A typical half day can include a lunchtime club, two afternoon curriculum support lessons and an after school club. Activities can rotate on a half termly basis, enabling as many staff and pupils to benefit as possible.

LEADERSHIP

Premier League Primary Stars is a national curriculum linked education programme using the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills.

In partnership with the Premier League, we work with schools to deliver fun, educational sessions across a range of programmes. We are excited to share information about the programmes available at a subsidised price, through the Premier League Primary Stars Affiliation and Bolt On programmes.

Our range of programmes support children to engage with core curriculum subjects, including Literacy, Maths, PSHE and STEM, along with opportunities for pupils to take part in Projects for Positive Change, designed to encourage them to think about how to make a difference in their local communities.

All our Primary Stars programmes are explained in further detail later in this booklet.

Enhanced Affiliation

Our Premier League Primary Stars Enhanced Affiliation is designed for schools who wish to access a range of PLPS sessions throughout the school year, including those focusing on PE, numeracy, literacy, PSHE, social action and girls only football. Funding from the Premier League Charitable Fund enables us to offer these programmes at a subsidised rate, meaning the PLPS Enhanced Affiliation is a cost-effective way of including these programmes within the yearly plan.

In order to qualify for the PLPS Enhanced Affiliation, schools must commit to accessing at least 6 PLPS specific programmes over the academic year, as well as providing monitoring and evaluation data which allows us to measure impact and report back to our funders.

Delivered by specialists, we can offer a variety of tailored in school training to meet your school’s needs in PE, sport, physical activity and health.

PLPS Enhanced Bolt On

Using the world of sport, particularly football, to inspire and engage pupils who lack the motivation to put their writing skills into practice.

Aimed at:

• Intervention for pupils in year 1/2 and year 3/4 (max 16 pupils per group).

• Pupils who do not engage in writing or prefer work presented in an alternative way.

• Pupils who enjoy sport, particularly football.

What it includes:

• 10x one hour sessions covering skills such as: active learning, interactive videos, personal challenges and real life scenarios from the world of football.

• Improving enjoyment of writing.

• Increasing knowledge of different writing skills.

Magazine Team

PLPS Enhanced Bolt On

Created in partnership with the National Literacy Trust, this 10-week programme focuses on four key article types – Debate, Review, Fact file and Instruction, whilst supporting pupils to create their own magazine.

Aimed at:

• Intervention for pupils in year 5/6 (max 16 pupils per group).

• Pupils who do not engage in writing or prefer work presented in a different way.

• Pupils who enjoy sport, particularly football.

What it includes:

10x one hour sessions where pupils will:

• Consider magazine design.

• Discuss and review a range of writing types.

• Identify purpose and audience.

• Learn how to source information for their articles from trusted sources.

• Learn how to draft, edit and revise writing.

• Learn how to work as a team and create their own magazine!

PLPS Enhanced Bolt On

A reading intervention for pupils who are reluctant readers. Developed in partnership with the Premier League and National Literacy Trust, the programme gives pupils the opportunity to practice their reading skills and engages pupils using the world of football.

Aimed at:

• Intervention for pupils in year 3/4 and year 5/6 (max 16 pupils per group).

• Pupils who are not motivated to read or prefer work presented in an alternative way.

• Pupils who enjoy sport, particularly football.

What it includes:

• 10x one hour sessions covering skills such as: active learning, interactive videos, personal challenges and real life scenarios from the world of football.

• A variety of reading materials such as matchday programmes, newspaper articles etc.

Key outcomes:

• Improving enjoyment of reading.

• Increasing knowledge of reading preferences.

• Increasing reading frequency.

• Increasing reading confidence.

PLPS Enhanced Bolt On

A numeracy intervention for targeted pupils, using physical activity to engage and motivate pupils around key numeracy skills.

Aimed at:

• Intervention for pupils in year 5 and/or 6 (max 16 pupils per group).

• Pupils who do not engage in numeracy lessons or prefer work presented in an alternative way.

• Pupils who enjoy sport, particularly football.

What it includes:

• 10x one hour sessions covering skills such as: place value, time, data handling, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing..

• A range of activities delivered through active learning and classroom based learning.

Key outcomes:

• Improving enjoyment of numeracy.

• Increasing confidence and knowledge of numeracy skills.

• Increasing awareness of numeracy skills in the real world.

Resilient Rammie

PLPS Enhanced Bolt On

The Resilient Rammie programme has been developed in line with PSHE statutory learning outcomes. It gives pupils an understanding of how to develop resilience, build self-esteem and work co-operatively as a team using football to engage pupils.

Aimed at:

• KS1 and KS2 (year 3, 4 or 5).

• The programme can be delivered to a full class or as a targeted intervention.

What it includes:

6x one hour sessions covering topics such as:

• KS1: Feelings, understanding resilience, identifying your superhero, working towards goals and teamwork.

• KS2: Helpful and unhelpful thoughts, building self-esteem, identifying skills and strengths, step coping plans and understanding your team.

• Pre and post impact measurements.

Key outcomes:

• Increasing awareness of recognising feelings and increasing their vocabulary to describe those feelings.

• Increasing understanding of uniqueness and respecting similarities and differences.

• Identifying skills and strengths in themselves and others.

• Increasing understanding of where we have different teams within our lives.

Winning Minds

PLPS Enhanced Bolt On

The programme takes a holistic approach to address emotional health and wellbeing around key milestones within year 6. Winning Minds supports pupils with highpressure moments, addressing issues directly and sensitively.

Aimed at:

• Year 6 pupils.

• The programme can be delivered to a full class or as a targeted intervention.

What it includes:

This programme runs throughout the academic year, with two key elements being delivered during Spring 2 and Summer 2.

Spring Term:

• Block A SATs/Wellbeing (6x one hour sessions).

Summer Term:

• Block B Transition (minimum of 3x one hour sessions).

Key outcomes:

• Increasing pupils’ confidence and development around two key milestones within their academic journey.

• Increased awareness of positive lifestyle choices to improve mental wellbeing and resilience.

Champions for Change

PLPS Enhanced Bolt On

We can work with pupils on social action projects to improve their school or community.

Social action is defined as “young people taking practical action in service of others to create a positive social change that is of benefit to the wider community as to the young people themselves.”

Aimed at:

• KS1 or KS2 pupils.

• Pupils who are passionate about making a change in their school or community.

• School Councils or Eco Councils.

• The programme can be delivered to a full class or as a targeted intervention.

What it includes:

• 6x one hour sessions to support the planning and delivery of your chosen social action project.

• Social action examples such as: antibullying initiatives, campaign promotion and fundraising support.

Key outcomes:

• Inspiring and engaging pupils to have a positive impact on their peers and/or community.

Black, White and Green

PLPS Enhanced Bolt On

We will provide pupils with the chance to create positive change as part of the #iwill campaign, and in partnership with The Woodland Trust.

The 6 week project focuses on climate change, including the impact that football clubs can have on the environment and culminates in a trip to The Young People’s Forest at Mead to plant or cultivate trees.

Aimed at:

• Year 5 and 6 pupils.

• Pupils who are passionate about making a difference in their community.

• School Councils or Eco Councils.

• The programme can be delivered to a full class or as a targeted intervention.

What it includes:

• 5x one hour classroom sessions.

• 1x visit to The Young People’s Forest at Mead to either plant trees or to support the growth of trees (an on-site alternative session available if required).

• Learning about what social action is.

• Understanding how football clubs have a role in supporting sustainability.

• Pupils making a pledge as part of the #iwill campaign to help support positive change within school/our community.

Key outcomes:

• Inspiring and engaging pupils to have a positive impact on their peers/community.

Length of session:

• After school sessions typically run for an hour following the school day (e.g. 3:30pm4:30pm).

• Lunchtime sessions typically run for an hour during the school lunchtime (e.g. 12:15pm - 1:15pm). Please note lunchtime clubs delivered as part of the Enhanced and PLPS Enhanced Affiliation are 30 minutes in length.

Our PPA Coaching is delivered by qualified coaches and is designed to enrich the school’s existing PE offer. These sessions aim to increase children’s levels of physical activity, their enjoyment of being active and allow teachers valuable time for planning, preparation and assessment.

WHAT IT INCLUDES:

• Choose from a range of topics and sports including generic themes of invasion games, net and wall, FUNdamentals and striking and fielding, or more sport specific topics such as football, athletics and tennis.

• Typically our coaches work with two classes over the course of an afternoon, however full day options are also available.

• DCCT can provide two coaches to work with each class, or one coach who can work with an existing class Teacher or Teaching Assistant.

• These sessions are typically linked to both our after school club and lunchtime club programmes to provide a full afternoon of delivery.

Derby County Community Trust is working in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust and FA to give girls equal access to football in schools. Affiliating allows your school to access the Girls’ Football in Schools programme, training and resources for free.

AIMED AT:

• KS1 or KS2 female pupils.

WHAT IT INCLUDES:

• Access to the Shooting Stars programme, which includes free training for staff and games resources based on Disney stories. Resources include KS1 and KS2 resources.

• FA curriculum resources.

• Face to face workshops delivered by Youth Sport Trust and England Learning.

• Access to attend girls’ football festivals and competitions, including Shooting Stars festival.

This programme aims to develop non-sports specific movements, skills and understanding that form the building blocks of physical activity and can later be transferred to a wide range of sports or specialisms.

• Coaches can work with a full class of children (alongside existing teacher or TA) or targeted children within an intervention session.

In partnership with the EFL Trust and Ferrero UK, the Joy of Moving programme is designed to help children develop their physical, cognitive and social skills in a fun and educational way.

AIMED AT:

• Year 5 pupils.

WHAT IT INCLUDES:

• 6 sessions covering skills such as: effects of physical activity on the body and mind, recap of the Eatwell Guide, meal planning and hydration.

• Each session will consist of classroom-based learning and physical activity.

• Coaches can work with a full class of children (alongside existing teacher or TA).

KEY OUTCOMES:

• Increasing pupils’ awareness of the importance of being active.

• Understanding the impact of physical activity on the body and mind.

• Educating pupils on the importance of a balanced diet.

• Free of charge (limited spaces on a first come first served basis).

The Physical Literacy programme was developed by Derby City Physical Literacy Partnership, including physiotherapists, to improve the levels of physical development in schools in Derby.

AIMED AT:

• Teachers and Teaching Assistants.

• Pupils from Year 2 upwards.

WHAT IT INCLUDES:

• Training session to understand what physical literacy is, how to assess physical development and run the intervention exercises.

• Initial assessment of 30 pupils by our team and feedback of data.

• 6 week intervention run in school for 15 minutes a day (by school staff) with two mentoring visits from our team.

• Post assessment of intervention children and feedback of data.

• Fast track referral process to the children’s therapy team for pupils who do not make expected progress after two rounds of intervention.

KEY OUTCOMES:

• Improving staff knowledge and understanding to accurately identify children with poor physical development.

• Effectively supporting children to improve their core stability and gross motor skills.

• Increasing pupils’ confidence to take part in physical activity.

rammie’s little movers

Rammie’s Little Movers is a 6 week programme based around the story ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’ which includes a range of games, songs and activities to develop good physical development and knowledge and understanding of healthy eating.

AIMED AT:

• EYFS pupils.

• EYFS Teachers and Teaching Assistants.

WHAT IT INCLUDES:

• 6x one hour sessions for one class covering topics including healthy eating, oral health and supporting physical development.

• Access to centralised training for EYFS staff.

KEY OUTCOMES:

Rammie’s Little Movers supports EYFS outcomes and physical literacy milestones, in particular:

• Support for the physical development early learning goals for gross and fine motor skills.

• Support for the Literacy comprehension early learning goals.

• Improving children’s physical development and knowledge and understanding of healthy eating.

• Increasing staff confidence to improve physical literacy outcomes.

rammie’s munch and crunch bolt on

Rammie’s Munch and Crunch is aimed at schools who want to increase physical activity, health and wellbeing opportunities across the whole school community.

AIMED AT:

• Teachers and Teaching Assistants.

• Pupils and parents.

WHAT IT INCLUDES:

Four classes per school. Where schools have three form entry please contact us to arrange delivery to an extra class for a small additional cost.

• KS1: 2x one hour sessions to grow and eat their own vegetables linking with the story Oliver’s Vegetables and key health messages.

• KS2: one hour session to cook their dish and learn about what makes a healthy diet and planning and preparing a healthy meal.

• Rammie’s Healthy Heroes assembly.

• Parent and Child Workshop: choose from ‘Healthy Eating and Physical Activity’ or ‘Healthy Lunchboxes’.

KEY OUTCOMES:

• Increasing confidence of staff to deliver health education and support their pupils and families with a healthy lifestyle.

• Increasing pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the importance of healthy eating for their health and wellbeing.

• Improving parents’ knowledge and confidence to support their children to move more and eat well.

Ranging from penalty shootout events to school based holiday coaching, children will benefit from a fun and engaging activity whilst contributing towards the cost of future activities and sessions.

Rambots is our STEM programme, created to engage pupils through fun, interactive coding challenges using Sphero BOLT robots.

The 6 week programme introduces children to coding programmes including Draw, Block and Javascript and is suitable for both KS1 and KS2.

AIMED AT:

• KS1 or KS2 pupils.

WHAT IT INCLUDES:

• 6x one hour sessions (large indoor space eg. hall required).

• Access to 15x Sphero BOLT robots.

• Access to 15x tablets.

• Coaches can work with a full class of children (alongside existing teacher or TA) or targeted children within an intervention session.

KEY OUTCOMES:

• Increasing pupils’ engagement with STEM.

• Improving pupils’ ability to problem solve and work independently.

• Enhanced understanding of geometry and coding.

Rammie’s Little Plotters

Rammie’s Little Plotters

Designed for children aged 3 to 6 years old, hosted at the Little Chester Allotment. The programme aims to foster children’s connection with the natural world through activities like planting, harvesting, and learning about food growth, also working on fine motor skills.

AIMED AT:

• Children aged 3 to 6.

• Targeted group of 10 children.

WHAT IT INCLUDES:

• 2x 90-minute sessions.

• Sessions held at Little Chester Community Allotment.

• School to provide appropriate staffing support.

KEY OUTCOMES:

• Helping children understand the positive impact of nature on their health.

• Encourage children to explore, investigate and respond to new experiences.

• Teaching children the importance of respecting and caring for nature.

COST:

• School must also cover the cost of travel to the allotment.

Developing children’s skills to support the delivery and organisation of a range of simple mini activities during break and lunchtime.

AIMED AT:

• Develops pupils’ leadership and skills.

To provide Midday Supervisors with resources and strategies to enhance lunchtime experiences for both staff and students, while also supporting their wellbeing.

AIMED AT:

• Midday Supervisors.

• Play leaders.

WHAT IT INCLUDES:

• The training session lasts for 3 hours and includes both theoretical knowledge and practical strategies to support Midday Supervisors in managing lunchtime effectively.

• We would recommend that the sessions can be conducted in a three-hour block or divided into two one and half hour sessions.

KEY OUTCOMES:

• Supports the Midday Supervisor team to help make lunchtimes fun and effective.

• Increases knowledge on behaviour management.

• Provides new, fun and easy game examples.

• Fosters a positive environment and builds rapport through team building and group work.

Lifestyle Programme

Schools can signpost their families to Live IT throughout the year.

AIMED AT:

• Young people aged 5 to 17 with a BMI above the 85th centile.

• Children who are registered to a Derby GP practice.

WHAT IT INCLUDES:

• Access to after school community sessions at various locations around Derby for a year.

• 1 to 1 support as part of regular health reviews.

• Free swimming for participants and discounted family swimming sessions.

KEY OUTCOMES:

• Supporting children and their families to manage their weight by improving fitness, nutrition and self-esteem.

The Active School Programme is unique in that it not only supports schools with delivering a whole school approach to physical activity and healthy lifestyles over a year but also provides targeted support for children who are overweight or obese through our child weight management programme Live IT. The programme is delivered over a full school year.
