In-State Transfer

Virginia’s community colleges offer students more than the opportunity to earn a degree or certificate. They provide a gateway to the commonwealth’s fouryear college and universities. Through system-wide agreements, students who graduate from one of Virginia’s 23 community colleges with an associate’s degree and a minimum grade point average may obtain GUARANTEED admissions to more than 30 of the commonwealth’s colleges and universities.

Out-of-State Transfer

Considering transferring out of state? Not a problem. DCC is regionally accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Regional accreditation plays a crucial role in higher education for several reasons, including transferability. Credits earned at regionally accredited institutions are more likely to be accepted by other colleges and universities, both within the region and nationally.

Phi Theta Kappa is the world's largest and most prestigious international honor society for two-year colleges. The Upsilon Phi Chapter follows an honor theme and has fundraising and service projects each semester. The hallmarks guiding the chapter are scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship.

The Student Government Association is made up entirely of DCC students. Its purpose is to promote a better understanding between faculty and students, to regulate and encourage activities beneficial to the morale of the students and the welfare of DCC, and to act as the official voice of the student body. The SGA works to provide the leadership necessary for the responsibility of initiating new policies, services, and activities for the benefit of the students.

The Cyber Knights focus on helping students understand material presented in the Network Engineer curriculum as well as other network-related information that may not be presented in a classroom environment. The club is a place for students to come together, learn, help, and have fun while exploring the world of networking with veteran enthusiasts and beginners alike. DCC offers Cybercrime and Cybersecurity students opportunities to compete in regional and national competitions. We strive to give our students every chance to test their skills and earn experience relevant to their chosen careers.

College is more than just classes and coursework. It's a time to build friendships, discover passions, and create memories that last a lifetime. At Danville Community College, student life is vibrant, inclusive, and full of opportunities to grow outside the classroom. Whether you're interested in leadership, service, creativity, or just having fun, there's a place for you at DCC.

Real Alumni Stories. Real Community Impact

“I’ve been all over the country and have gone through many different courses. The foundation that I got with Dr. Balfour in his anatomy and physiology class has stayed with me everyday. The scientific background that I got at DCC really set me up for success in being able to gain further knowledge and bring that knowledge into my facility where I can share it with our community.”

Trey Belcher

Strength and Conditioning Coach and Owner of Trey Belcher Training LLC.

“My experience at DCC has felt liberating. It’s the first time I have really dedicated my time to something. I feel privileged as I am given the opportunity to speak to many of the students. As someone who has not had many friends in the past, I have made so many in my time here.”

Koda Thompson, Class of 2025, former SGA President

“Coming back to DCC to get my fire science credential did a lot for me. It has made a difference in my career, my salary, and the things that I do here in the city - it's because of DCC. They have the slogan ‘DCC is the place to be’ and I truly believe that.”

Shelby Irving

Division Chief for Danville Fire Department

"DCC impacted my life a lot. It gave me a chance to spend time with my son and daughter while we were attending college. During that time, my son passed away from an automobile accident. We started a scholarship called the Sinatra Isaac Isaiah Banks, Jr. Memorial Scholarship and it’s still active today. It gives me good vibes that he is remembered in a positive way." - Renee Banks
