One Spotlight Town

A NOTE ABOUT THE PLAY One Stoplight Town is a story about people from a town so small that you might drive through without taking a second look. But if you stopped for just a moment, you might see a young boy and girl fall in love, a cantankerous grocery store owner coping with change, a daughter returning home while another daughter thinks about leaving, a beauty queen and a drum major striking up a friendship, and a handyman taking it all in while he fixes what is broken. These stories and more are filled with fun characters, lots of humor, plenty of heart, and the theme that change comes for us all, whether we are ready or not.

Emily Van Kell - Sophomore (Protestor, Waitress): This is Emily’s second show here at Belvidere High School, her first one on stage, and definitely not her last. Emily would like to thank her mom. Her mom is her #1 supporter and the loudest in the crowd!

Hailey Hughart - Freshman (Drag Race Kid/Teen): This is her second show with Belvidere High School. This is her 6th show in total. She is so happy to be in another show and ready to do her best. She hopes you like the show.

Addye Anderson - Senior (Drag Race Kid/Teen): This is the second show of Addye’s last year at BHS. She would like to thank the cast and crew, as well as her friends and family for believing in her and giving her the confidence to be on stage again.

She hopes everyone who comes to see the show has a wonderful time and enjoys the show.

Yakelin Santana - Junior (Protestor 1): This is Yaki’ss third show at Belvidere High School. She is a Junior this year. She hopes to continue participating in theatre for the rest of her life. Yaki hopes to have encouraged you to shout.

Sheyann Carpenter - Sophomore (Kid/Teen 4): This is her third show at BHS. She is starting to get over her fear of being on stage! She wants to thank her friends and family for supporting her with everything she has done. She also wants to thank the new friends she has made along the way for helping out in every way possible.

She hopes everyone enjoys this show as much as she enjoys being apart of it.

Michaela McClain-Smith - Freshman (Kid/Teen 3): This is Michaela’s 2nd play with BHS, her 3rd play overall. She loves theater, Girl Scouts, and helping the environment. She is so glad that her family and friends support her in all she does.

Meagan McVey - Junior (Girl/Teen Girl): This is Meagan’s third show at BHS and she is very excited to be apart of it. She has had a lot of fun being apart of this show and becoming friends with the amazing cast and crew. She hope she you enjoy watching the show.

Gabriel Yates - Freshman (Kid/Teen 1): This is Gabriel’s second performance with BHS. He is excited to perform on stage with this amazing cast. He would like to thank his family for all the support, and hopes you enjoy the show!

Jacob Thiede - Senior (Tom): Jacob Thiede is very excited to be in his last play at BHS. This is Jacob’s 11th show at BHS and 13th show overall. He would like to think his family and friends for supporting him and the directors for keeping the whole show together. He hopes you have a wonderful time and you enjoy the show.

Sophia Yates - Sophomore (Green Bean Queen): Sophia is super excited to be in this show this year. This will be her second year of productions at BHS as a high schooler. Sophia hopes you enjoy the show!

Jasper Floyd - Junior (Kid/Teen 2): This is his first show with an acting role. He’s very happy he was able to be a part of theater and he hopes to continue being in as many as he can. He would like to thank his friends and family for inspiring him to act so much, and he hopes you enjoy the show!

Emma Cordray - Junior (Runaway): This is Emma’s 7th show here at BHS and her 17th show overall. She is extremely excited to get back into the space after winter break and would like to thank her family for being so supportive and the cast and crew for being amazing friends.

Paige Niemiec - Freshman (Emma/Townsperson): Although this might be her first time performing at BHS, she took part in every performance the middle school had to offer. Now she is ready to continue her theater journey throughout high school.

She thanks her supportive family and the cast for making acting a fun experience!

Jasmin Camargo - Senior (Townsperson): This is her first time ever doing a show.

She’s thankful for the cast for making the experience really fun as well as her friends for supporting her through this! She hopes the audience will enjoy the show as much as she does!

Angelica Rodriguez - Freshman (Police Officer): This is their first official show at BHS. They are very excited about the oncoming shows and the memories to be made! They want to thank their family and the cast for their support during the making of the show. They hope you enjoy the show!

Beau DeGennaro - Senior (Prodigal Daughter): Beau’s happy to be in one of her last shows at BHS, especially since this is the first show she gets to share with her sister, Gigi. She is also excited to see lots of the newer theatre students in the show, and who the theatre program will be in the hands of next year. Thank you, and enjoy the show!

David Williams - Super Senior (Clarence): This is his (Insert Number That He Isn’t Willing To Count Up To)th show with BHS and his (Insert Larger Number Than The Previous One. If He Won’t Count The First One, He Definitely Won’t Count This One)th show overall. He likes things. Like, you know, stuff. Oh! And what-d’you-callits! He for sure likes what-d’you-call-its! Enjoy the show!

Ella Yates - Senior (Sally): This is Ella’s last winter play at BHS and is excited to finally share the stage with both of her siblings! While this is her last play, she will be onstage again for Anastasia later this spring! She would like to thank her amazing family and friends for always supporting her!

Christian Rodriguez - Senior (Jim): He would like to thank all of his friends and family for supporting him throughout his journey to his ninth show at BHS, and second to last show of his senior year. It’s been a great time, and time’s moving by fast, almost like the blink of an eye. Now, this isn’t the last you’ll see of Christian, he’s got one last show left in him. Blink and you’ll miss it, he sure will.

Piper Niemiec - 6th Grade (Young Emma): Piper is a 6th Grader at Belvidere South Middle School. This is Piper’s first show with BHS, the third show overall. She is very happy that she was chosen to play Young Emma. She hopes that from this experience she with be one of the first choices if they need a helping hand.

Oliver Rubendall - Sophmore (Townsperson): One Stoplight Town is his third high school show and he is so happy to be a part of it! He is looking forward to the future shows that he gets to be a part of, and is happy to be a part of the theatre program here.

Abigail King - Freshman (Protester 4/Townsperson): This is her first show at BHS. She is very excited to be part of this experience. Abigail hopes that you have an amazing time watching the show.

Brooklynn Clement - Freshman (Flash): This is their second show with BHS, and they’re super excited to be a part of this show! They would like to thank everyone who’s made theatre a fun experience so far. Enjoy the show!

Sophia Adams - Junior (Polly): One Stoplight Town is Sophia’s second show at Belvidere High School. They have been so excited to watch this hardworking cast grow throughout these past weeks, and to put on this sentimental show for their friends and family! And she hopes you enjoy the pep in Polly’s step!

Makkala Thiede - Sophomore - (Protestor 4/Flash Diner): This is Makkala’s third show at BHS. She is super excited for everyone to see this show! She would like to thank her family and fellow cast for making things fun. She hopes you fall in love with this town just like she did.

Jay Mabry - Senior (Melvin): Jay Mabry is enthusiastic to be a part of his 2nd to last production in BHS Performing Arts! His role as Melvin is sure to liven the mood of the melodramatic show. From cracking jokes to making fun of Bob, there’s always a good time with Melvin.

Sophia Myers - Freshman (Drum Major): This is her second show with BHS, her 3rd show overall. She is extremely excited about the shows being held this year.

Technical Crew Biographies GiGi DeGennaro -Freshman (Assistant Stage Manager): This is GiGi’s first production that she is assisting stage managing. She has helped with previous shows in the past. She has helped with costumes on The Litte Mermaid and helped the Belvidere South Middle School with their production of Moana Jr, but this is the first show she is officially working on. GiGi enjoys working with the other two stage managers. They are fun to be around.

Sophie Leese - Junior (Assistant Stage Manager): This is Sophie’s third time doing a show here at BHS. They would like to thank their family for supporting them, as well as the cast and crew for making this show so much fun. They would also like to thank GiGi and Gabe for being amazing fellow stage managers. They are so excited for you to see this show and they hope you love it!

Susan Ogunniyi - Freshman (Running Crew): Susan was a running crew member for Annie Jr. for Belvidere South Middle School. She was on the technical crew for BHS’s production of Trap!. She is very excited to help out with One Stoplight Town.

Ariel Ogunniyi - Freshman (Running Crew): This will be her first time with anything theater-related and she feels it’s a great opportunity to contribute. She is a bit nervous but is willing to learn along the way.

Colton Vanfleet - Sophomore (Videographer): He is excited to be working in tech and helping out with recording the play.

Gracelynn Converse - Junior (Running Crew): Gracelynn is a Junior at BHS. Gracelynn loves working backstage. She was a part of the technical crew for Belvidere North High School’s Puffs. She hopes to make some new friends at BHS. Gabriel Inniss - Sophomore (Stage Manager): This is Gabe’s third show at BHS and his first-time stage managing. He was previously the Sound Console Operator in Trap and Theory of Relativity. He would like to thank the cast and crew for their hard work. It was a pleasure working with them. Gabe would also like to give a special thank you to Sophie and Gigi for being the best ASM’s he could ask for. He hopes you enjoy the show.

Johanna Miralrio - Sophomore (Light Board Operator): For Johanna’s second show at BHS, she is trying out the lightboard. She was previously seen as a Follow Spot Operator for Trap.

Janessa Gray - Junior (Running Crew): This is her first show and she’s very excited for this and future shows. We hope you come and enjoy the show!

Reona Birr - Freshman (Running Crew): She worked on Annie Jr. in 7th grade at Belvidere South Middle School. This is her second show and she’s hoping to work many more in the future. She hopes you enjoy watching the show as much as she enjoyed putting it together.
