NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR
Thank you so much for attending our Fall 2024 productions, The Rehearsal and Oz, both written by the funny and insightful Don Zolidis. We are particularly proud of these shows in that students truly took the lead and grew in many areas through hard work and dedication. In August, we had so many great actors audition that we decided to expand our show to two one-acts, both chosen from a list of plays students recommended in Drama Club meetings. We quickly began our rehearsals, and although students had to work around other sports and activities, they made rehearsal work! Lily Hyser, a senior and our student director, ran rehearsals for The Rehearsal, and in both shows, we took a collaborative approach onstage. While actors were preparing their parts, our backstage crew spent many evenings reorganizing our backstage to make it a safer and more welcoming environment for students, and creating backdrops and props. As you watch, make sure to notice the student-designed and painted backgrounds for the Scarecrow and Tin Man. In October, shortly before Halloween, we took students on a productive field trip, in which students picked out pieces from local shops to create their costumes, working within our production budget. And finally, we are continually impressed by our Tech students who know our light and sound systems backwards and forwards, having learned throughout the years from our Tech Director and resident Jack London expert, Chris Shank. I hope that you will celebrate with us after the performance, to congratulate our students in all of our teams and ask questions about all of their hard work. Enjoy the show!
A special thanks to the members of our North Boone School District Board of Education, our amazing teachers and staff at North Boone High School, including secretaries Shelly Johnson and Jodie Embry, and Head Custodian Jeremy Berg, our administrators Principal Marc Eckmann & Assistant Principal Jeff Corn, and the families who have supported our Drama program, including the Doetch and Rentsch families, the Hyser, Torres, Kloc, Searle, Dixon & Whitlock families and many more! And a very special thanks to you for being here in support of our program! Schedule for the Show

ACT 1: THE REHEARSAL, A SHORT PLAY (40 MINUTES)

A young teacher tries to pull off a production of Guys and Dolls, but putting a musical together is never easy, especially with a megalomaniacal stage manager, a lead who's convinced that Wicked is a much better show, and a girl who is clinically incapable of following directions (she has a doctor's note to prove it). And to make matters worse, there aren't nearly enough guys to be the Guys. A hilarious and poignant look behind the scenes of a drama club production filled with -- what else? -- lots of drama.
10-MINUTE INTERMISSION
ACT 2: OZ (40 MINUTES)

Reeling from her sister's death, Beth suddenly finds herself journeying through a world suspiciously resembling the film The Wizard of Oz. But with the yellow brick road sold to foreign investors after a financial meltdown, the Scarecrow reveling in his ignorant bliss, the Cowardly Lion acting like a paranoid sociopath, and the Tin Man embracing his emotional numbness, Beth wonders what role she plays in this classic story gone awry. A hilarious and heart-wrenching exploration of grief and perseverance on the road to acceptance.
