Dear Student-Athletes, Parents, & Guardians:

Welcome to Rockford Auburn High School and to the 2021 Fall Sports Season. As your Athletic & Activities Director, I am very excited about the start of another great season. Athletic Code of Conduct

Being a part of the AHS athletic program is a privilege and we expect our student-athletes to represent our school and community in a positive and respectful manner. We encourage you to take a moment to sit down and familiarize will all aspects of the policy.

Weekly Eligibility

All student-athletes must be passing at least six (5) classes weekly. If not, the student will not be allowed to participate in events the following week (Sunday-Saturday). All students receiving any F’s during the weekly check will be assigned mandatory athletic lunch tutoring the following week. If a student does not attend, they will not be allowed to participate in events the following Athleticweek.

• A student-athlete who is suspected of sustaining a concussion or head injury in a practice or game shall be removed from participation or competition at that

•time.Astudent-athlete who has been removed from an interscholastic contest for a possible concussion or head injury cannot return to that contest unless cleared to do so by a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches in Illinois or a certified athletic trainer.

•If not cleared to return to the contest, a student athlete cannot return to play or practice until the student-athlete has provided his or her school with written clearance from a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches in Illinois or a certified athletic trainer.

The Fundamentals of SPORTSMANSHIP

GAIN AN UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION FOR THE RULES OF THE CONTEST. Being well informed is essential. Know the rules. If you are uninformed, refrain from expressing opinions to decisions made by officials, coaches, and administrators.

EXERCISE REPRESENTATIVE BEHAVIOR AT ALL TIMES. The true value of interscholastic competition relies upon everyone exhibiting behavior which is representative of a sound value base. Your behavior influences others whether you are aware of it or not.

EXHIBIT RESPECT FOR THE OFFICIALS. The officials of any contest are trained, impartial arbitrators who perform to the best of their ability. Mistakes by all those involved are part of every contest. We should not rationalize our own poor or unsuccessful behavior by placing responsibility on an official. A rule of good sportmanship is to accept and abide by the decision made.

OPENLY DISPLAY RESPECT FOR THE OPPONENT AT ALL TIMES. Opponents are guests and should be treated cordially, provided with the best accomodations, and accorded tolerance at all times. Be a positive representative of your school, team or family.

DISPLAY PRIDE IN YOUR ACTIONS AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY. Never allow your ego to interfere with good judgement and your responsibility as a school representative. Regardless of whether you are an adult, student, player, coach or official, this value is paramount since it suggests that you care about yourself and how others perceive you.
