Closing the Circle - Rachel Gallagher Solo Exhibition 16th September - 27th September 2014 The Daren Baker Gallery on behalf of Wychwood Art are delighted to announce Rachel Gallagher’s solo-exhibition, Closing the Circle. Collectors will have the opportunity to see a new series of artworks that Rachel has produced over the last twelve months. Rachel Gallagher (b.1953) has been a practising artist for over 20 years. Rachel Gallagher’s works focus on concepts of time and space. Rachel’s palette is in dusky hues that buzz with the physicality of her brushstrokes creating an energy that radiates from the surface of the canvas. The paintings consist of many layers and forms of pigment and paint. The works are worked, reworked and excavated producing a tactile, rich and resonant surface that bears testimony to the evolutionary process. Each work portrays a space, not a tangible space, but an imaginative space that seems to ebb and flow from the vast sea of unconsciousness. Rachel Gallagher says her works are “the unexpected links that bridge time and place. Open the door and climb into the dark. You have to find your position to see the beauty revealed. Take time to savour. When you are ready open the door again and come back to the light. Relish the physical change of space and the mental shift of position.” Rachel’s works are collected all over the world and have been sold to private collectors in the United States, Australia, Europe and Ireland. Her artworks are also held in a number of public collections including the Loughborough University Collection. Rachel is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Member of the Chelsea Arts Club. This stunning exhibition of works is on view at the Darren Baker Gallery from the 16th September until the 27th September 2014. Founder and Director of Wychwood Art, Deborah Allan comments

“We are thrilled to be showing Rachel’s remarkable solo exhibition, Closing the Circle. There are 20 works on view in the exhibition and each is as powerful and moving as the next. This is an exhibition not be missed by any abstract art follower.”
