On behalf of the Dayton Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc, I bring a warm heartfelt THANK YOU for supporting our 2023 Beautillion Militaire Through our program, we have been committed to developing African American Male leaders since its inception Our chapter does this by celebrating academic excellence, sharing our resources for them to provide community service, and conducting a Rites of Passage Program that is second to none
We are proud of our history in the Dayton community, having hosted the first Beautillion, Militaire style, in 1968 With the words and concepts of Black Power echoing throughout the African American community, our former members, a group of innovative and progressive women of the Dayton area, saw the need to give recognition and honor to outstanding black male high school seniors They set the precedent for many militaire types of Beautillions in the years and decades that followed I encourage you to reflect on the tremendous accomplishments of this current outstanding group of young men
They have shown themselves to be scholars and community servants that society says is not prevalent with our young men of color I am elated by what I see and hear from these talented young men I have no doubt that each of them will go on to make lasting impacts on society and I look forward to watching them accomplish their goals To the parents, I thank you for what you have instilled in these young men and I say job well done Thank you for entrusting your sons with us
I am also a proud parent of two previous Beaux, and so thrilled to be able to acknowledge two of our former Jack & Jill Young Men as Honorary Beaux These two beaux, Nikoli Vukasinovich and Jackson Duncan were not able to participate in their final rite of passage and matriculation out of Jack & Jill due to a global pandemic Now we have the opportunity to heal, a moment in time, these two young men and their families so deservingly have awaited
A very special thank you to Chair LaDawn Mims and Co-Chair Samantha Smith-Lowery, you two have overcome all of the obstacles of the past to put together an outstanding beautillion season for these young men Thank you to the Dayton Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc members WE did it ladies! Sit back and enjoy watching what all your hard work and service produces Thank you to all the volunteers and community members who have poured in to these young men and a huge thank you to the Delta Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi for leading our Rites of Passage program This collaboration has proven itself to be what these young men needed
Finally, I must acknowledge the many people who have poured into the lives of these young men We know without your encouragement, and unwavering support, these young men may not have reached this station in life The African Proverb says, "I am because WE are and, since we are, therefore I am " I pray that their paths be full of meaningful experiences, and continued support of the families and communities that surrounded them in love

The Dayton Chapter of Jack and Jill, Inc. is pleased to host the 55th Annual Beautillion Militaire. It is an exciting and rewarding experience that we have shared with the Dayton community. The Dayton Chapter has proudly presented over 1,400 outstanding African American male high school graduates to the community with the Beautillion Militaire which is a formal military-type presentation. Beaux participate in a 12-week character and leadership program that culminates with the Grand Ball.
The Beautillion Militaire program provides a structured environment where young men are enriched through seminars, workshops, teamwork, leadership activities, social and interpersonal building, and community service. The core Beautillion Militaire program activities include:
The Rites of Passage is an ancient African tradition marking the transition from adolescence to adulthood. This six-week program provides mentoring and personal development. The sessions are designed to help build character; learn self-reliance, family values and community responsibility. The program concludes with a ceremony for the young men and their father figures
Becoming a leader also means living a life of service to others. Community service helps participants to learn how to give to others without expecting anything in return. Community service also helps participants learn about the community in which they live.
The leadership workshop helps participants conquer challenges and roadblocks that impede communication, teamwork, success in school, and relationships with peers and family. This workshop helps young men think beyond their perceived sphere of influence as leaders do.
The Etiquette and Dining class is designed to prepare the beaux for everything from a meal with family and friends to a White House dinner. The tools and principles learned during the class help them feel confident and know they are not breaching table and dining etiquette protocol.
Each year beaux tour the Ohio State House, speak with government officials, and see firsthand the legislative process.
