1. Wh- questions - Câu hỏi với từ để hỏi
Wh-questions bat đầu với các từ đế hỏi như: what, when, where, who, whom, which, whose, why và how. Chúng ta dùng chúng để hỏi lấy thông tin.
Các từ để hỏi thông dụng
Who: ai? - được sử dụng để hỏi về người (thường hỏi về chủ ngữ hoặc tân ngữ).
a. "Who" dùng để hỏi về chủ ngữ.
Who is calling?
(Ai đang gọi vậy?)
Who sent me this letter?
(Ai đã gửi bức thư này cho tôi?)
b. ''Who" dùng để hỏi về tân ngữ
Who did you talk with last night?
(Bạn đã nói chuyên với ai tối qua?)
Who will you go with?
(Bạn sẽ đi với ai vậy?)
Whom: ai? - được sử dụng để hỏi về người (thường hỏi về tân ngữ).
Whom did you call last night? - I called Mr. Jack, my English teacher.
(Cậu đã gọi cho ai tối qua vậy? - Tớ gọi cho thầy Jack, giáo viên Tiếng Anh của tớ.)

- được sử dụng để hỏi về sự sở hữu.

When: khi nào?
- được dùng để hỏi về thời gian.
When will the film start?
(Bộ phim chiếu lúc mấy giờ vậy?)

How long: bao lâu?
- được dùng đê hỏi về độ dài thời gian.

2. Conjunctions in compound sentences: and, but, so - Liên kết từ trong câu ghép: and, but, so
Định nghĩa câu ghép:
Câu ghép là câu được hình thành bởi 2 hay nhiều mệnh đê độc lập. Các mệnh đề này được nối với nhau bởi các liên từ kết hợp như: and, but, so... hoặc dấu chấm phây (;).
Dưới đây chúng ta sẽ được học về liên từ nối AND, BUT và SO

Cách sử dụng thì quá khứ đơn
- Diễn tả một hành động đã xảy ra và kết thúc tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ.
I bought this book last night.

Jack used to live in London.
(Jack đã từng sống Ở London.)
- Diễn tả một loạt các hành động xảy ra trong quả khứ.
She came home, switched on the computer and checked her e-mails.
(Cô ấy đã về nhà, bật máy tính và kiểm tra email.)
She turned on her computer, read the message on Facebook and answered it.
(Cô ấy đã mở máy tính, đọc tin nhắn Facebook và trả lời tin nhắn.)
- Diễn đạt một hành động xen vào một hành động đang diễn ra trong quá khứ. When I was having breakfast, the phone suddenly rang.
(Khi tôi đang ăn sáng thì điện thoại đột nhiên reo lên.)

Ex 1: She walked to school yesterday. (Hôm qua cô ấy đi bộ tới trường.)

Ex 3: Did she walk to school yesterday? (Hôm qua cô ấy có đi bộ tới trường hay không?)
- Yes, she did./ No, she didn’t. (Có, cô ấy có./ Không, cô ấy không.)
Chú ý:
- Với động từ thường khi chia ờ thì quá khứ đơn ta có 2 dạng: bất quy tắc (cột 2 trong bảng động từ bất quy tắc) và theo quy tắc là chỉ cần thêm “ed” sau động từ. Quy tắc thêm đuôi “-ED” vào sau động từ theo quy tắc.
1. Thông thường ta thêm “ed” vào sau động từ. turn - turned need - needed talk - talked
2. Động từ tận cùng là “e” chỉ cần cộng thêm “d”. type - typed smile - smiled agree - agreed
3. Động từ tận cùng là một phụ âm, trước phụ âm là một nguyên âm ta nhân đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm “-ed”. stop - stopped knit - knitted
4. Động từ có hai âm tiết, tận cùng là một phụ âm, trước phụ âm là một nguyên âm, trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ hai ta nhân đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm “-ed”.
5. Động từ tận cùng là “y”
- Nếu trước“y”làphụâm đổi“y”thành “i”sauđó thêm
“-ed”
- Nếu trước “y” là một nguyên âm (a, e, i, o, u) ta thêm
“ed”.
Dấu hiệu nhận biết thì quá khứ đon.
Trong câu xuất hiện các trạng từ chỉ thời gian sau:
- Yesterday: hôm qua
commit - committed prefer - preferred
study - studied cry – cried play - played stay - stayed
- Last night/ last week/ last month/ last year: tối qua/ tuần trước/ tháng trước/ năm trước
- Ago: cách đây (two hours ago, two weeks ago ...)

2. IMPERATIVES - MỆNH LỆNH THỨC
Định nghĩa
Câu mệnh lệnh trong tiếng Anh là câu được sử dụng để đưa ra mệnh lệnh, lời hướng dẫn, lời khuyên, sự khuyến khích hay sai khiến người khác, nó còn gọi là câu cầu khiến.
Câu mệnh lệnh thường không có chủ ngữ và theo sau bởi từ please. Chủ ngữ của cau mệnh lệnh được ngầm hiểu ở đây là you.

1. POSSISSIVE ADJECTIVE (TÍNH TỪ SỞ HỮU)
a. Định nghĩa
Tính từ sở hữu là những từ đứng trước danh từ để cho biết danh từ đó của ai, của cái gì. Chúng ta gọi nó là tính từ sở hữu vì nó thể hiện tính chất sở hữu của người hoặc vật với danh từ đi sau nó.
b. Bảng đại từ nhân xưng và tính từ sở hữu tương ứng

c. Vị trí đại từ sở hữu trong câu
Tương tự như các đại từ khác, đại từ sở hữu có thể làm: chủ ngữ, tân ngữ hoặc đứng sau giới từ (trong cụm giới từ).
- Đại từ sở hữu ở vị trí chủ ngữ
Để đại từ sở hữu có thể là chủ ngữ trong câu thì câu phía trước đó cần nhắc đến một đồ vật thuộc sở hữu của người khác
Ken’s bike is expensive. Mine is cheaper.
(Xe đạp của Ken thì đắt. Xe của tôi thì rẻ hơn.)
My dress is red. Yours is black.
(Váy của tớ màu đỏ. Váy của cậu màu đen.)
- Đại từ sở hữu ở vị trí tân ngữ Đây là trường hợp hay gặp nhất của đại từ sở hữu.
The book you are reading is mine.
(Cuốn sách bạn đang đọc là của tôi.)
This cell phone is mine.
(Chiếc điện thoại di động này là của tôi.)
- Đại từ sở hữu đứng sau giới từ
I can deal with my problem but I can’t deal WITH yours.
(Mẹ có thể giải quyết vấn đề của mẹ nhưng mẹ không thể giải quyết vấn đề cua con.)
Lưu ý:
Đại từ sở hữu còn được dùng trong dạng câu sở hữu kép (double possessive).
Mark is a good friend of mine.

1. FUTURE SIMPLE TENSE (THÌ TƯƠNG LAI ĐƠN)
a. Cấu trúc
Khẳng định S + will + V-inf
Phủ định S + will + not + V-inf
Nghi vấn Will + S + V-inf ?
Ex 1: My mother will buy a birthday cake tomorrow.
Ex 2: She wont come my house tomorrow.
b. Usage (Cách sử dụng)
- Thì tương lai đơn diễn tả một hành động sẽ xảy ra trong tương lai. Trong câu thường có từ chỉ tín hiệu thời gian trong tương lai.
Ex: I will go to the zoo with Tony tomorrow. (Ngày mai tôi sẽ đi sở thú với Tony.)
- Thì tương lai đơn diễn tả một quyết định được thực hiện tại thời điểm nói.
Ex: - It’s so hot. (Trời nóng quá.)
- OK. I will turn on the air conditioner, (ừ. Tớ sẽ bật điều hòa.)
- Thì tương lai đơn diễn tả một dự đoán không có căn cứ.
Ex: I think they will not come to the party. (Tôi nghĩ họ sẽ không đến dự tiệC.)
- Thì tương lai đơn có thể dùng để đưa ra yêu cầu, đê' nghị, lời mời, lời hứa hoặc một sự đe dọa.
Ex 1: Will you go to the cinema with me tonight? (Bạn đi xem phim với tôi tối nay nhé?)
Ex 2: I promise I will pay you tomorrow. (Tôi hứa tôi sẽ trả tiền bạn vào ngày mai.)
c. Signals (Dấu hiệu nhận biết thì tương lai đơn)
Ta có thể nhận biết thì tương lai đơn qua các trạng từ chỉ thời gian hay các động từ chỉ quan điểm, suy nghĩ.
Nhận biết qua các trạng từ chỉ thời gian
- tomorrow: ngày mai
- next week/ next month/ next year: tuần tới/ tháng tới/ năm tới
- in + thời gian trong tương lai.
- soon: sớm, chẳng bao lầu nữa
Ex: We’ll have a part next week.
Nhận biết qua các động từ chỉ quan điểm
- think/ assume/ believe...: nghĩ rằng/ cho rằng/ tin rằng
- expect/ hope: mong đợi, hi vọng
Ex: They hope they will study in the USA in the future. (Họ hi vọng họ sẽ học o Mỹ trong tương lai.)
2. MIGHT FOR FUTURE POSSIBILITY – MIGHT DIỄN TẢ KHẢ NĂNG TRONG TƯƠNG LAI
Might (có lẽ, có thể) là một động tù khuyết thiếu.
a. Form (Câu trúc)
Khẳng định: S + might + V (bare inf)
Phủ định: S + might + not + V (bare inf)
Chú ý: Không dùng might ở dạng nghi vấn để diễn tả sự nghi ngờ.
b. Usage (Cách sử dụng)
Might dùng để chỉ khả năng xảy ra của một hiện tượng, sự việc.
Ex 1: He might be back at any moment. (Anh ấy có thể sẽ về bất cứ lúc nào.)
Ex 2: The teacher might call my parents. (Cô giáo có thể sẽ gọi cho bố mẹ của tôi.)
Lựu ý:
Might có cách dùng tương đối giống may về việc diễn tả một khả năng nào đó. Tuy vậy may dùng để diễn tả khả năng xảy ra của sự việc có độ chắc chắn cao hơn might.
Ex 1: It’s sunny this weekend, we may go swimming on Sunday.
(Cuối tuấn này trời nắng, chúng ta có thể đi bơi vào Chủ nhật.)
Ex 2: I haven’t seen him come out yet. He may be in his office.
(Tôi không nhìn thấy anh ấy. Anh ấy có thể ở trong văn phòng.)

CÁCH SỬ DỤNG MẠO TỪ “A, AN, THE” TRONG TIẾNG ANH
a. Các loại mạo từ
Trong tiếng Anh, mạo từ (article) được chia làm 2 loại: Mạo từ xác định (definite article) “the” và Mạo
từ không xác định (Indefinite artcile) gồm “a, an”.
b. Cách sử dụng của mạo từ
Cách dùng mạo từ “a”
Mạo từ “a” có nghĩa là “một”. Chúng ta dùng “a” trước các từ bắt đầu bằng một phụ âm.
Ex: a dog: một con chó a cat: một con mèo a pen: một chiếc bút
Cách dùng mạo từ “an”
Mạo từ “an” được dùng trước những từ bắt đầu bằng nguyên âm (dựa theo cách phát âm, chứ không dựa vào cách viết).
Ex: an apple: một quả táo an egg: một quả trứng an object: một sự vật
Chú ý
- "an dùng cho một số từ bắt đẩu bằng âm h câm: an heir, half an hour.
- Ngoài ra mạo từ “an” còn đi kèm với các từ viết tắt:
Ex: an s.o.s: một tín hiệu cấp cứu; an MP: một nghị sĩ; an X-ray: một tia X
Cách dùng mạo từ “the”
Mạo từ “the” được dùng khi cả người nói lẫn người nghe đề u biết rõ danh từ đó, và thường nó rơi vào
một trong các trường hợp sau:

được xem là duy nhất.
- Trước một danh từ nếu danh từ này vừa được đề cập trước đó.

- Đặt trước một danh từ chỉ một đồ vật riêng biệt mà người nói và người nghe đều hiểu.

- The + danh từ số ít: tượng trưng cho một nhóm thú vật hoặc đồ vật.
- Đặt "the" trước một tính từ để chỉ một nhóm
người nhất định.
- "The" đượcdùng trước những danh từ riêngchỉ
biển, sông, quần đảo, dãy núi, tên gọi số nhiều
của các nước, sa mạc, miền.
- The + of + danh từ
- The + họ (ở dạng sô nhiêu) có nghĩa là "gia đình".
c. Những trường hợp không dùng mạo từ
Trước tên quốc gia, châu lục, tên núi, hồ, đường phố.
(Ngoại trừ những nước theo chế độ Liên banggồm nhiều bang (state)
Khi danh từ không đếm được hoặc danh từ số
nhiều dùng theo nghĩa chung chung, không chỉ riêng trường hợp nào
Trước danh từ trừu tượng, trừ khi danh từ đó chỉ một trường hợp cá biệt.
Ta không dùng "the” sau tính từ sở hữu hoặc sau danh từ ở dạng sở hữu cách.

Câu điều kiện loại 1 là câu dùng để nói về một việc có thể xảy ra ở tương lai khi có một điều kiện nhất định.

Dùng để đề nghị hoặc gợi ý.

Dùng để cảnh báo hoặc đe dọa.

d. Lưuý:
- Trong một số trường hợp, “will” có thể được thay thê bằng “can/may”.
Ex: If he arrives early, he can meet her.

- Trong câu điếu kiện loại 1, ta có thể dùng “Unless + Thì hiện tại đơn” thay thế cho “If not + Thì hiện tại đơn”.

SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES WITH SHORT ADJECTIVES (DẠNG SO SÁNH NHẤT CỦA TÍNH TỪ NGẮN)
a. Khái niệm so sánh nhất
So sánh nhất thường được sử dụng để so sánh một sự vật, hiện tượng với tất cả các sự vật, hiện tượng khác trong tiếng Anh. Trong cấu trúc này, trước mỗi tính từ được sử dụng trong câu sẽ có thêm từ “the”.
b. Cách sử dụng
So sánh nhất thường dùng khi so sánh từ 3 đối tượng trở lên nhằm diễn tả một người hoặc vật nào đó mang một đặc điểm nào đó vượt trội hơn hẳn so với tất cả những đối tượng còn lại được nhắc đến.
c. Cấu trúc: S + be + the + adj-est...
Ex:
This dress is the cheapest in the shop. (Chiếc váy này rẻ nhất trong cửa hàng.)
Mai Anh is the tallest girl in the class. (Mai Anh là bạn nữ cao nhất trong lớp)
Chú ý: Ngoài dạng so sánh hơn nhất ta còn có dạng so sánh kém nhất S + be + the least + adj...
Ex: This car is the least safe. (Cái ô tô này kém an toàn nhất.)
Her ideas were the least practical suggestions. (Các ý tưởng của cô ấy là thiếu thực tế nhất.)
d. Quy tắc đổi đuôi tính từ
- Thông thường ta thêm đuôi -est vào sau hầu hết các tính từ ngắn.
- Đối với những tính từ ngắn kết thúc bằng một phụ âm mà ngay trước nó là nguyên âm duy nhất thì chúng ta nhân đôi phụ âm rồi thêm đuôi “est”
Ex: hot the hottest; big the biggest
- Những tính từ có hai âm tiết và kết thúc bằng “y” thì đổi “y” thành “I” rồi thêm “est”
Ex: happy happiest; busy the busiest
- Một số tính từ có hai ầm tiết nhưng kết thúc bằng -le, -et, -ow, -er vẫn được xem là tính từ ngắn.
